Journey's end
Brummett liked the ending of The Sopranos. I get his point. I still would preferred a neater package and more melodrama. Call me low-brow.

Am I the only odd duck who doesn't have a frigging care about the Sopranos? The HBO series on "Rome" was much more stellar than anything the Sopranos could conjure up.

Cato - different strokes for different folks.
Brummett got it right. Couldn't have written it better myself which is why he gets paid the big bucks, I suppose. Given time, folks who were unhappy with the ending will mull it over and change their minds.
David Chase gave true fans of the series a gift -- I'm still thinking about all of the nuances in the finale episode. Very satifsying.

I always thought the Sopranos was about the good and evil that lives in each of us. The movies and Kitty Kelly have done us a disservice. Their bad guys looked bad, acted bad, had no discernible good points.
Look at the people running our country today. Nearly all of them had enough good points, or at least pretended well enough to win the biggest popularity contests in the land. That's all an election is, a popularity contest. But look at our rich white winners....such evil they commit in our name.
Nice looking, well dressed, mannerly (except for Cheney), they love their God and their Flag and their families, yet they rig it so big business can steal all our money. They invade other countries, sometimes without using soldiers.
They kidnap and torture and kill all the while kissing babies, speaking in churches and showing us what wonderful Christian people they are.
What's so different about the Sopranos? We don't know how Tony voted, we just know he paid off a lot of politicians in his time. Look at Tony and look at Richard Armitage.....don't they look like twins?
Tony didn't torture, he just killed. Quick and to the point. If given the chance like Mark Pryor, would Tony Soprano have voted for torture?
See....nice people sometimes aren't so nice. It's best to ignore their words if there is something handy laying around like their voting record. Read it and weep.

Well Sheriff Matt Dillion in Gunsmoke never killed anybody that didn't need killing did he Cato?
But to Matt Dillion's advantage he hung out with Miss Kitty, the town's upright Madame. Back then I wanted to grow up and become sheriff and spend most of my days in the bar with Miss Kitty and I had the idea that Chester would take care of the office.

All of my prediction regarding the finale went down in flames, starting with "Tony must die." Or did they? The blank screen at the end allowed me to insert the conclusions that yes T got popped, maybe Paulie was involved, maybe A.J redeemed himself, maybe those Arab guys from the Bing were behind the hit, maybe the Russian from the Pine Barrens came back to finish the onion rings, etc.
The ending was disappointing, but the more i think about it, the better it gets, except i wish they had picked a better song than Journey's "Don't Stop."
By the way Cato, Rome was great, but it was also just The Sporanos set in, well, Rome.
