I tuned in for about five minutes. They had a horrible stage. It was orange. It looked like the set from The Gong Show. I expected Chuck Woolery to be hosting.
Hillary wore a Little Dutch Boy pantsuit. Barack Obama was again the most presidential, which I don't expect anyone on this blog to acknowledge.
I did not see the debate; however, during Brian Lamb's interview with Tavis this morning (C-Span), the debate seemed to have been moderated very effectively. And, too, that appeared to be the consensus from those who chose to call in to offer commentaries. I will try to catch the second installment--the republican debate in September (Morgan State).
Richardson ran over with every reply and that got a bit annoying in spite of the fact he had good substantial things to say. Biden uncharacteristically did not run on but probably had the least interest of the Audience overall. Kucinich as always, is a logical sane man of peace who cuts through the bull with clear solutions in mind. Edwards just gets better. Grandpa Gravel remains the old man in the room who has everyones number and is correct 95 percent of the time and for that all the young whippersnappers just ignore him. Dodd is really good on so many things but comes across like an old banker at times.
Hillary and Obama say many good things...have a lot of polish with the least specifics in their suggested solutions and come off like pro car/ Hollywood salesman with the least sincerity in the end.
The debate covered social issues almost exclusively, with more military talk dedicated to Darfur than Iraq or Afghanistan... and Hillary sounded almost like Bush when she firmly listed a myriad of military actions she would order.. and the women in the audience ate it up like a bunch of old neo con men.
I stand in the same undecided position this morning as I did before watching last night with three candidates in the running for my primary vote..
Kucinich, Edwards, Dodd .
All in all, I must say it was the best debate so far and Tavis and PBS did a wonderful job. These debates are a very good thing and I hope at some point a platform for longer answers perhaps with follow up questions comes our way.
I also wanted to mention Hillary finally quit sounding like a faux black person in her speaking manner last night... Nice to hear her nip that in the bud... guess those high priced consultants/ coaches finally earned a portion of their millions in pay.
Since Max doesn't follow the "Fairness Doctrine," I thought I would report a recent poll (since Max also likes to report polls, especially about Mrs. Rodham Clinton) which does not bode well for the junior senator from New York:
WASHINGTON -- More than half of Americans say they wouldn't consider voting for Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton for president if she becomes the Democratic nominee, according to a new national poll made available to McClatchy Newspapers and NBC News.
Link on my name.
ARK. BLOG: It's an issue. But this sort of poll is always weighted to the anonymous perfect candidate. You don't run against an ideal. Bill Clinton had similar negatives. But, fortunately, he didn't run against the perfect. He ran against Bush and Dole.
Nope! Didn't know there was a debate last night. Hopefully I can find the vid on the Internets.
We must remember half the country doesn't bother to vote. Those that do will not be checking any boxes for Republicans. The Democrat who gets the nomination gets the White House...that is unless President Cheney's evil plan succeeds.
If Cheney wins, all 8 of these people will be found dead alongside the road with faces full of buckshot. Strangely, Mark Pryor will live.
You know why? Because spamping yourself as a republican is proof of either insanity, ignorance, or out-and-out criminality.

I guess I am just not up to date, but what is "spamping?"

So the Religious Right wing of the Republican Party won't accept a woman in the pulpit but will accept a woman in the White House.

It was like watching eight monkeys squabbling over a football, only far less entertaining.

If I remember correctly, Bush got crushed by the "Perfect Democrat" in 2000 and 2004. Just saying...

There is not one of them, not one, who wouldn't be a better president than any of the republican contenders.
