The hoe squad

Heres's the link to the new database built by the Environmental Working Group that drills down to the names of the actual people who receive farm subsidies. Various news media got advance looks, including the Democrat-Gazette, which had an extensive story this morning on payments in 2003-2005. It noted that D-G executive editor Griffin Smith ($4,638) and financier Warren Stephens ($7,832) were among those receiving taxpayer help to sustain the family farm. Basketball star Scottie Pippen ($78,945) is on the list, too, along with a number of Arkansas politicians such as Rep. Marion Berry. Ought to make good reading when available to all at 11 a.m. today.
