They must not read Arkansas newspapers
Uh oh. Says here in Washington Post that many presidential candidates are getting heavily into text messaging. Not minutes before kickoff, I hope.
(And on an almost thoroughly unrelated subject: I was reading excerpts from the Supreme Court decision on school assignment plans and came across a passage in Justice Breyer's dissent. Somebody needs to send him some copies of the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette. He's gone and slandered the great Orval Faubus. Wrote Breyer, lamenting the damage done to the Brown decision: "Three years after that decision was handed down, the governor of Arkansas ordered state militia to block the doors of a white schoolhouse so that black children could not enter." Sheesh. He was just trying to keep the peace. Check the 'Crat's clips.)

chas,
If you're going to use "stupid" in a sentence, try harder to get everything right instead of everything wrong.

Hey hugh you post your's and I'll post mine. Meanwhile take it easy it's not the end of the world yet.. but it is closer than ever... Tribulations starts right after the rapture for 7 years.. worry about that if you don't have the ticket to heaven. If you don't have a ticket call Jesus, he has all the tickets.

" . . . standard texting rates apply."
Hold it right there. Although I hope to vote for one of these folks in the presidential election, I have a question: are the pols getting a kickback from the cellphone companies?
Sheesh, sit still for an ad, political or commercial, AND PAY FOR THE PRIVILEGE. (Yes, I'm jumping up and down and screaming. I do that a lot.)
Remember P.T. Barnum? A sucker born . . .? Minute no longer applies. Second, maybe, but I beginning to think the frequency is even greater.
I'll say it again. Sheesh. (Thank you, Max.)

Hey, Chasv, I know a few black christians. In your world, do they get raptured too? Is heaven segregated?
Yeah, I'm feeling cantankerous today. Just realized yesterday that I've become one of those cranky, outspoken old women who used to terrify me. I loudly pointed out to a big ole boy that he was breaking in line and sent him slinking to the back, mumbling an apology.
Hubby told me later that he was getting a little too old to defend me against his type if it came to that. (Actually, he's still a tough old rooster and would probably try.)

Speaking of heaven and the races, something occurred to while browsing the biographies at Barnes and Noble recently.
In an account documented by many contemporaneous records, a biographer of Robert E. Lee recounts how he dealt with two recaptured runaway slaves, a man and woman.
General Lee ordered them lashed so severely that the overseer lost his stomach for the torture and would not continue. Then, General Lee directed that a bucket of brine be splashed on the gaping wounds, to teach the slaves a lesson they would never forget.
By all accounts Lee was a deeply religious man. Reckon he'll make it to heaven? Seriously, I don't have a point, except that I'm glad it's God, and not me, who will judge with love and mercy his self-flawed creations.

Hey Chasv? Where, chpt and verse, does it mention "rapture" in the Bible?
My second question: "How many people do you know who have been to heaven?"
And to get off on the wrong side of Max I don't see how SCOTUS damaged the intent of Brown v. Board of Education. It will still be unlawful to disallow school attendance based upon race.

Interesting point Knoc Knock.
NPR correspondent Juan Williams has a NY Times op-ed piece arguing that it is time to both "praise" and "bury" Brown v. Board.
Williams argues that moving children based on race was essential when "separate" was inherently "unequal," mainly because of discriminatory decisions by school boards on where to apply resources.
Now, says Williams, it is time to focus on improving the capabilities of predominately black and Hispanic urban schools, rather than trying to force more whites to attend there.
Haven't made up my mind, but it's a point worth considering. Click on TAP for the link.

chasv hint: don't waste too much time searching for the term "rapture" in the Scriptures. It's not there. The idea of "rapture" was made up by an 1890s evangelical.

Mark 13:32
"No one knows about that day or hour, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father.

Wow, Glad to see all the replies,,, Well, Doigotta, no segregation that I know of,, everybody will have a new body.
Knoc knock one place to find how many is in the seventh chapter of Revelations....and blacks are included when the rapture occurs.
Yes, Knoc knock it doesn't say the word but it means the same as saying we'll be caught up in the air. See the Church will be caught up when the lord comes back. The Church is made up of everyone who has been born again. Have ye been born again?
No, No one knows when but we do know that when Isreal became a nation again that that before a generation has past the end will come. End meaning the end of the church age or gentile age both are the same then tribulations starts for seven years.. going to be like hell on earth for 7 years.

I will never mock anyone's faith. And I, too, have been taught we will all have new bodies, and not these frail and corruptible things we have now.
It makes no difference to me, but I wonder if the new bodies will have the same color outer coverings as the old ones? Or will God pick a middle ground, say the color of many Polynesian folk? Or will The Lord drive home the point that we are all his children by making *all* the new bodies black...or white? Maybe it will be beyond the power of human minds to conceive...a color unknown to mankind. Maybe we will be able to change color at will...but if we do, wouldn't that show we brought along something we should have left on earth?
Will God allow me into heaven if deep in my heart I would be unhappy about having fair skin and blue eyes when I get there?
I'm not trying to make any points, here. My focus is on trying to have a good relationship with God and getting his help and guidance while I am here. I don't think that much about the next life, so these questions never occurred to me until today. And, the answers don't matter to me.

Wouldn't it be something if God forgave Robert E. Lee for his murder and torture of his fellow human beings, but gave him a new body that looked exactly like Samuel L. Jackson's -- just to make sure Gen. Lee didn't think what he did was okay?

Okay chasv.
I didn't mean *you* were mocking someone's religion.
I was trying to say that, by asking the questions I didn't mean to mock *your* beliefs.
I have heard about the scriptures you are referring to. But I had thought we would know them because our perceptions would be heightened -- not that I'd know my grandpa because he'd look like the sick old man I knew (maybe he'll look like he did when he was 25).
So I had thought we'd know each other even if we looked completely different -- whether because of age or color. Our eyes would be opened.
But again, I haven't studied this point as you have. I am just asking questions.

I have one more question for you, chasv.
Do you believe in "The Curse of Ham?" That is, that black people were destined to slavery and suffering because Ham disrespected his father Noah, who then cursed Ham's son Canaan (supposedly setting the stage for Canaan's black descendants to serve others throughout the earth age)?
If you do, be assured I am not going to debate the point with you. In fact, I probably would not debate anything else you say.

June 30, 2007 04:15 PM
Tap. you read it. There is never a debate when it comes to the reading of God's word. Just try to understanding.
IN Genesis 9:22, 23 When it said that ham's two brothers went backwards to cover his father's nakedness didn't mean it was Noah they covered up.

I think you are right on course. Not only will we know them but we will see them in their new body, in which there will be no more sickness or pain or death. Hallelujah, amen.
Tap, I know you weren't mocking. I love to talk to anyone about the bible.
Rackensacker Nothing but hell will be as bad as the seven years of tribulation.
Thanks Max.

Okay chasv. I imagine the others grow weary of me turning this into Saturday evening Bible study.
My New Living Translation tells me in verse 24 that "When Noah woke up from his drunken stupor he learned what Ham, his youngest son, had done."
I am not sure what you are telling me, but it probably will be more polite to the others if I post my home e-mail so that you can enlighten me outside the blog.
But on my question that *does* relate to the blog remains: Whoever was the son or father of whomever, do *you* believe black people have suffered due to The Curse of Ham?

Knocker up , you can't be save but ONCE! When tribulations starts you'll stop your sinful ways and beg God to forgive you during that seven year period. The first fourty two months won't be so terrible but the last fourty two months people will beg the mountains to fall on them to hide them from the pain because they did not accept the Lord as their God and saviour. People will try in every way to kill themselves but death will not come.
Tap read and take Matthew chapter 6 verse 33 for your memory verse. The original King James Version is the only bible.

'Knocker up , you can't be save but ONCE! When tribulations starts you'll stop your sinful ways and beg God to forgive you during that seven year period.'
CharlieVirgin, you mean the good Lord only forgives people one time! Damn, I used to hear preachers talk about "back sliders" and how they needed to come by to the Lord. Were they wrong? Are backsliders
a hopeless, futile bunch of sinners who, in your judgement, can never enter the gates of Fantasy World?
"The original King James Version is the only bible."
Now that one CharlieVirgin is the biggest howler I've ever seen the likes of you post. The orginal KJV came to us after 4 major revisions.
And toward of the KJV it mentions that one cannot take away nor add one iota to it, including your fictitious "rapture."

"Once saved, always saved" is what I believe Chasv is referring to (correct me if I'm wrong).
And in that philosophy, there's no such thing as backsliding. That's a liberal Methodist concept.
Conservative bible literalists believe that Jesus Christ is a get-out-of-jail-free card. If you've accepted him as your Lord and Savior, you can cheerfully murder your children with an axe and still make it into heaven.
Another way of saying it is "Faith, not works"

Know this people, the bible said, that if you don't come as a little child you shall not enter Heaven.
I Love it when people help me...
The gospel never changes no matter what people say. I should have said that the KJV is what I think is the best translation... use what you want but be sure to be born again before He come back oryou'll fry.

"I should have said that the KJV is what I think is the best translation.."
Boy, come "J" Day and you will realize you should have said a lot of things differently.
And one more thing. Unless you bothered to learn King James english you have no idea of what the Scriptures mean. If you could be time warped back to the 15th century (not a bad idea) I doubt you could 'be learned' to find the pee pot.
