Here comes the injudicious judge

Blake Rutherford's blog reports that Republican Sen. Shawn Womack has firmed up plans to run for an open circuit judgeship. The Republican senator isn't exactly the most judicious legislator we've seen. And there's the matter of his pork-enabling and run-in with the legal ethics commission. For sure you wouldn't want to be a gay person in his court. Steve Harrelson's Under the Dome helpfully provides a map of Womack's Senate district for the coming race between Rep. Johnny Key and, maybe, Democratic Rep. Monty Davenport.

Comments

Let's head off a problem at the pass. If Judge Griffen is in hot water because his past remarks make Republicans think they can't get a fair shake in his court, what will gay folks think when they stand before Judge Womack? They might get the electric chair for a traffic ticket.

This will be a big problem because as things stand now, there are a whole lot more gay people than there are Republicans, and Cheney-Bush are reducing that number daily. Griffen soon won't have any Republicans appearing before him, while statistics show 10 to 15% of those standing in front of Womack's bench will be gay. Besides, how gay does Judge Shawn sound? No....tain't fittin....tain't fittin!

Surely the Mt. Home area can do better. This man is compromised.

A sad day for the law. Shawn is merely a young man with a law degree, not a lawyer.
