Neighborhood action
A newsletter from the Downtown Neighborhood Association says Trinity Episcopal Cathedral is dropping its request to close the 1600 block of Spring Street for Cathedral School use. Instead, the cathedral's dean, the Very Rev. Henry Hudson, said the school would work on a plan to barricade the block during school hours, from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.. Many neighbors had opposed the closure. Hudson also told neighbors the church could support returning two-way traffic to the street.

Maybe the Downtown Association can work on the DISASTER parking and traffic snarl and wrong way traffic over by Larry's Pizza at i630 a nd Louisiana. You take your life in your hands around there...not to mention all the vehicles piled up on that green (now a dirt lot) space where they shouldn't park. Maybe Larry's can block off part of the street there when the buffet line is long.

Cathedral School is great. Have you ever seen those cute, many even smart, kids at the Christmas Pageant. Wow. Whatever they want is fine, dear.

Yeah, they're true pillars - having fired a terrific teach because she's a lesbian. Pillars.

Not because she was a lesbian, if I remember correctly. Because she felt the need to disclose to her young charges that she was a lesbian and engage them in some discussion, of at least editorialize on it, if my memory serves me.
Maybe all teachers, hetero and gay, should just , to use an expresion, "Just Shut up and teach," when it comes to such things with elementary school kids.
Maybe? Dunno. Just sayin' could be a good idea.
Besides, having a two way street will send the message that gay and straight are both o.k. (To those who see the symbolic meaning in things).
Reparation in a way for past sins such as those you cite? Gosh, that God does workin mysterious ways though.

Larry's is a neighborhood blight. The neighborhood association has tried to rope off the green space but to no avail. He actually encourages people to park there because he has no intention of purchasing a lot nearby for his customers. Surely there should be a city ordinance about that -- heck, you have to have so many toilets per occupancy, parking spots should be equally required. Anyone considering moving here and exiting at Center will think they pulled into a vast urban ghetto where everyone parks on thier lawns. It's not even their lawn they are parking on - it belongs to the community.
I am not holding my breath regarding opening Spring again to 2-way traffic. They send a kind and good man to do the schools bidding - the dominatrix head madame would have eaten the neighbors alive! I still think they should relocate the school to the big Episcopal Campus on Cantrell. Why should we suffer because the two groups don't get along. Heck, if the federal court ruling in LA giving property of a church which departed from the denomination to the diocese; what happens here if these folks decide to up and leave the tradition -- does the Archbishop of Canterbury give a damn about Little Rock's Quapaw Quarter?
The school not only discriminates against "homosexuals" it is the dog Nazi capital of the city. Bright red signs, "NO DOGS ALLOWED". If they get their way with the street we will all be treated to bright red signs saying, "NO NEIGHBORS ALLOWED."

I'm confused why a school seems to think a city street in a neighborhood (I'm assuming) should be closed during the day just for them.

Maybe for the same reason they close miles and miles of LR streets for the Marathon.
