Old-fashioned filibuster

The NY Times is live blogging the all-night Senate debate on war votes. The latest thinking, however, is that the Republican filibuster will be successful and Democrats won't get an up-or-down vote on their Iraq withdrawal proposal.

I have no life. So I spent several hours watching and listening to the speeches in the Senate. The Republicans parroted Cheney talking points and nothing else. The Democrats had the time to talk in detail, some of it was interesting, some of them get it.

There may be some light on the horizon. Senatorial tempers are getting shorter. I think Jim Webb is a week away from socking someone on the other side of the isle and I'd buy tickets to watch that. He should have taken out Strom II Graham on Meet the Press on Sunday.

The Republicans have turned into 2 year olds who cover their ears and holler la la la la la la rather than listen. They aren't listening because they know they won't like what they hear. They won't let Reed-Levin come up for a simple vote because they know they'll lose.

Even Lincoln and Pryor appear to be hanging around the right side suddenly. Maybe that means the message of GET OUT coming from the American people has finally penetrated their ears at long last.

The only way to dry up this war is by turning off the money or violence from the citizens. The first way is less bloody, the latter quicker.

A good start to showing they mean business would be for Democrats in Congress to cause Harriet Miers to be drug from her house by the heels and put under arrest for the duration. Gitmo Harriet and the Republicans might understand we mean business.

Anything is better than continuing the slaughter in Iraq. We've been told this week that Cheney has made us less safe....not more safe. Both Bush and the leaders of the Iraqi government are preparing for a long long vacation. During that time our troops will die. During that time Cheney will continue to work his evil.....Cheney never rests.

Focus the power of your chee on Pryor and Lincoln and hope they'll continue leaning our way.

Poor poor Senate. I am sure all the nurses, cops, firemen, felt sorry for them having to stay up all night.

Well and why not? After all, there's hundreds of billions at stake here for Rw Mafia contractors.
