The choice of pro-lifers UPDATE

Mike Huckabee doesn't merit a mention in a NY Times article today about anti-abortion forces looking for a philosophically acceptable Republican candidate with the potential to win. Huckabee has the credentials. Anybody who'd ignore federal law and refuse to provide Medicaid money for an abortion for a retarded teen raped by her stepfather surely meets the "pro-life" litmus test. The activities of this lobby nonetheless could help Huckabee in the Iowa straw poll, heavily influenced by religious conservatives in years past.

UPDATE: Fred Thompson the dream candidate?
