Your daily dose of David Vitter

Gotta love U.S. Rep. Richard Baker (Republican, of course) defense of U.S. Sen. David Vitter, the whoring Republican family values champion. Better to be a hypocrite says Baker:

Baker took aim at critics who labeled Vitter a hypocrite for promoting conservative views, talking about family values and advocating sexual abstinence at a time when he was in a touch with an alleged call girl service.

"If a man has values and standards, but does not live up to them, it does nothing to discredit the validity or those values and standards, and he is far preferable to those timid souls who, without values and standards, cannot fall short of them nor ever run the risk of being charged with hypocrisy," Baker said.

Other La. Repubs are more guarded.

And speaking of Louisiana politicians: David Treen, Bennett Johnson and others are working to get President Bush to commute the sentence remaining for former Gov. Edwin Edwards, five years into a 10-year bribery sentence and now 80 years old. If Scooter Libby need not do a day, isn't five years enough for Edwin?

WASHINGTON --A woman accused of running a Washington prostitution ring placed five phone calls to David Vitter while he was a House member, including two while roll call votes were under way, according to telephone and congressional records.

Vitter, a Louisiana Republican now in the Senate, acknowledged Monday that his number was on the woman's call list and apologized for a "very serious sin." The married father of four has remained in seclusion since, missing Senate votes and other activities Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday.

Telephone records released by Deborah Jeane Palfrey indicate she placed calls that were answered by Vitter's Washington phone on five occasions while Vitter was in the House, from 1999 through 2001.

" ... he is far preferable to those timid souls who, without values and standards, cannot fall short of them nor ever run the risk of being charged with hypocrisy ... " --Baker

I mean, huh?

Soo...if I've never cheated but don't think cheating is a sin, I'm less righteous than a hypocritical cheater like Vitter??? That explains a lot about the Republican Party.

Generally I support the death penalty almost soley for use in cases where a public official fucks over their constituents for monetary gain, it's a most parasidic form of treason.

But, the guy's 80. So, go ahead and let the bastard out so his kids can pay for his funeral. He's likely racking up a heckuva lot of medical bills the state is paying...

Think, Zelda and widg. Think.
There are no standards and values but THEIR standards and values.
Got it now?

Sorry. widj. widJ.
My values and standards slipped. But I can be forgiven surely. I just lost a dozen or more beautiful tomatoes to water cracks and ants. I'm just not myself.

i remember leaving new orleans once and stopping at mittendorf's restaurant in manchac for catfish on the lake coming home. we have always done that after some told us about it 30 years ago. possibly the best catfish i have ever had. as i was paying the lady taking my money commented on the man in front of me " that was our former governor edwin edwards. he is under indictment. he may go to jail."
i then said to her "down here don't they all" she said" it seems like it."

Sorry for your loss, Doigotta. By "water cracks" do you mean the 'maters swoll up too fast because of all the rain lately and cracked their skins?

One of the few places as crooked as Washington, DC, is Louisiana. This has been so since the beginning of time...will be at the end of time. There's something in the water down there.

Vitter is just the next one up to bat and his Black Sox buddies are coming out of the woodwork to defend him. Notice we've never had a President from that state and never will. Just too damn slimy and crooked.

I doubt anything will happen to Vitter and he'll probably be a lot better representative of the people now that he's been publicly spanked. Hopefully he'll quit pretending he's something he's not. The Bible beaters will have to look to someone else for their fix.

Though I really don't think YOUR sex life is any of my business, nor mine yours, I hope Larry Flint nabs a bunch of these lying assholes because I'm sick of hearing them. I don't know what women want, ask my wife, after 25 years I still don't know what she wants, but all men want sex.....period.

The more powerful and important you feel, the more sex you want and the more sex you feel entitled to. Having sex with attractive strangers is fun and will never go out of style.

We do have a rare opportunity thanks to the Iraq War for Oil. In coming elections we'll get the chance to elect men whose genitals have been blown off. Such men will be able to devote their entire mind to public service instead of poon-tang.

Who knows after a few terms of watching these eunuchs able to concentrate 100% on the job at hand there may be a public drive to castrate all male politicians...especially if the military-industrial complex finds the practice to be good for profits.

It could just be part of the price of entering politics. And they'll be enough men willing to lose their units for the opportunity to live like a king and receive riches untold.

After all, one of the main reasons a man enters politics or buys a Corvette is to make up for a small, underdeveloped penis, so losing the very thing that has been a lifelong embarrassment in exchange for riches is a small thing...no pun intended.

If Mrs. Vitter carries out her Bobbett threat, we'll have next year to judge the success of my theory. If all goes well we could suggest such an operation to Mark Pryor should he win again in 2008.

Any woman who has been married more than 5 years will gladly tell you she's tired of penises, they cause loss of sleep, they're trouble, they're ugly.

If the women of America unite, they'll be no more penises in DC and if that trend catches on....all men are in trouble. But hey....after 6 and half years of Cheney-Bush, my own penis holds little fascination even to me. Maybe it's better to lose one's penis than it is to lose one's country.

Food for thought.

Laugh-aroo there, DBI. Are you sure your Mom didn't know Lenny Bruce? :-)

Oh lord, DBI...I'm torn between wantin' to smack ya and wantin' to hug ya. But I'm LOL regardless.

I agree...'If the women of America unite' the world WILL be a better place (regardless of the state of penis)!

Now DBI, from a woman's prospective, I think you're wrong. I think those little boys will always try to prove they're really big boys, oh, by invading Iraq or something.
Women of the world unite indeed, Zelda, although we might have to keep a special place in our hearts for "honorary women."

And yes, widj, the maters took up too much water and cracked open. Determined to save at least something for the table I picked them only to find that ants had claimed them for their own. Sigh.
