Final bus report

And a closing report from Young Republican Leslie Rutledge and the triumphant Huck-a-Bus riders -- that's Leslie at right in the photo with Jill Cox (left) and Yolanda Hugg:
We're back in the Rock recovering. Yesterday was too crazy to send out emails...time was much better spent registering Huckabee supporters and poll-watching as it turned out.
I personally knew we were in good shape when the local folks were standing in the Huckabee barbeque line for over an hour just to be fed when they could have easily walked up to the Mitt or Brownback tents and been served immediately. The line would have been in the neighboring state if Jennings would have cooked!
I believe Huckabee was the only top 4 candidate that did not bus any voters in to the Straw Poll. We were the only bus and we couldn't vote!We have pics from Mitt's and Brownback's "carnivals" they brought in to entice voters.
Sometimes, Max, genuine hard work and a great candidate just pay more than the dollar bill.
Will send you some more pics and commentary later if you like.
Need to get our bearings...and a shower...
Leslie Rutledge
USA Today figures Huck got the most bang for his buck in straw poll voting.

Surprised nobody's done a FOI on state computers to be sure these young repubs (and likewise demos) who work for the state aren't using state resources and work time to plan trips and campaign. Or...maybe they have and come up empty. Huckabee has so many people who are working for the state whose jobs are thanks to connections in his administration. And we all know there are diehard demos in state jobs.

posted this late yesterday. Maybe it indicates progress towards Huck's real goal:
NY Times, today is mentioning Huckabee as Rudy Giuliani's potential running mate:
"He might need a running mate who is more pleasing to the right than he is. One interesting choice might be Mike Huckabee, the former governor of Arkansas.
This would shore up Arkansas's emergence as a breeding ground for national leaders."
Week in Review, p. 12 Aug 12, 07
Can Huck endorse Rudy's positions on gay marriage, abortion, and overlook that he's the divorce king of the Repubs? Of course he could. It's not about "moral values", "traditional marriage", "culture of life", it's about winning and power.

After watching all the talking head shows today, I must say, that $90,000 was the best money Huckabee ever spent. He got 20 million in free advertising today. Entering this straw poll, that means absolutely nothing, was a brilliant move. I tip my hat to the Huckabee camp. And as I've said before, if a new nakey calendar comes out named The Girls of the Huck-a-Bus....I am so standing in line to buy it!

Puke.
...but I'd be thrilled with a Huck Republican ticket. And pairing him with a closet-full-of-Bernard-Kerik's Guliani would thrill my liberal heart. Between Huck's fundamentalism and Giuliani's, um, 'colorful' past/present the Clinton's should have a field day. Go preacher man; show America why it should elect another president who uses the Bible to excuse any form or arrogance. Go Giuliani; show America how a true-blue Republican lives that family values talk that came so easy when Republicans were crucifying Bill Clinton.
If Diebold doesn't steal another election, the Republicans don't stand a chance in hell of winning the presidency...especially with the current crop of hypocritical losers.

I am proud to be an American when I see the way the straw poll seemed to cut through some of the hype created by the media that was in favor of the over financed candidates.
Back about 1915 or so we had a politician named Woodrow Wilson that accepted a bribe to create the Federal Reserve. They were a group of very powerful bankers and businessmen from around the world at the time. Through the monopoly of being the source of our money and by being outside of our government, or paying any taxes, they have built up a fortune that, I believe, includes owning most of the politicians of the world.
It is going to take a determined, We the People, to restore law and order in our government before we can restore law and order in our once great nation.
"I am a most unhappy man. I have unwittingly ruined my country. A great industrial nation is controlled by its system of credit. Our system of credit is concentrated. The growth of the nation, therefore, and all our activities are in the hands of a few men. We have come to be one of the worst ruled, one of the most completely controlled and dominated governments in the civilized world. No longer a government by free opinion, no longer a government by conviction and the vote of the majority, but a government by the opinion and duress of a small group of dominant men."

Who won the ACTUAL Iowa REpug vote last year? Is that guy president now?
I'll say it again: I think everybody's giving Reverend Huck more credit than he's earning.
Of course, I guess the voters gave Duhhhhhhhhhbyuh more credit than he deserved too.
It's a crazy world, ain't it?
BTW, DBI, I'm willing to shoot that calendar if you can set it up. But for now, I gotta go let the Messikuns feed me supper so I can settle down for "John from Cincinnati" and the big meteor shower tonight. Gawd, I lead an exciting life.

I don't mean to rain on the Huckster's parade, but he seems awfully excited about edging out Sam Brownbeck 18% to 15%. Romney got as much as both of them put together, and everyone else of any consequence avoided the hyped up little strawman poll. If he is seeking humility, he should remember that the last two second place finishers were Steve Forbes and Phil Graham. Remember them?
