Huck and Hill

The International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers has endorsed both Hillary Clinton and Mike Huckabee for nomination in their respective party primaries. Remember what I said the other day about Huckabee showing up with such regularity?

“Mike Huckabee was the only Republican candidate with the guts to meet with our members and the only one willing to figure out where and how we might work together,” said [IAM President Tom] Buffenbarger. “He is entitled to serious consideration from our members voting in the upcoming Republican primaries.”

ALSO TODAY: Huckabee reports polling gains in Iowa and elsewhere. Same polling group, ARG, shows Hillary breaking away on Dem. side. An all-Arkansas final? A new man from Hope against the old man from Hope's old lady?

Oh the many faces of Mike. Now we get the populist face. South Carolina will get which face? The God-fearing, antiabortionist?
.

McLaughlin and Associates conducted a survey of 500 likely Republican caucus voters in Iowa on August 20th and 21st, 2007.

"The poll found that Mitt Romney leads among the Republican Presidential candidates with 35% of the vote, followed by Rudy Giuliani (12%), Fred Thompson (11%) and Mike Huckabee (11%). Another 10% of voters are undecided."

The majority of caucus voters (62%) agree that America's standing has suffered in recent years. In addition to a strong military, Republicans agree (77%) that America needs a stronger effort to improve diplomatic relations and use foreign assistance to help potential friends and allies around the world. Two-thirds of Republicans agree (66%) that reducing poverty, treating preventable diseases, and improving education in the poorest countries is important to help restore respect and support for the United States around the world. Iowa Republicans agree that America has a moral obligation to help the world's poorest people through foreign assistance. Three in four voters (77%) agree that the Unites States has a moral obligation to address problems like disease, hunger and lack of economic opportunity in the poorest countries because it was built on a solid foundation of faith that teaches us to help others. When millions of children around the world are dying from preventable diseases and hunger, 79% of Republicans agree that we have a moral obligation to do what we can to help."

"The American Research Group (ARG) survey (conducted 8/26-29, n=600) shows Hillary Clinton (with 28%) leading Barack Obama (23%) and John Edwards (20%). And a new survey from Time/SRBI (conducted 8/22-26, n=519, Time story, SRBI results) shows essentially the opposite, Edwards (with 29%) leading Clinton (24%) and Obama (22%)."

Go figure. Huckabee "won" in Iowa due to default of Giuliani and Thompson not running. Hillary is the front runner in one poll , Edwards in another.
It's a long time till election '08.
