Library to seek tax increase
The Board of the Central Arkansas Library System decided Thursday as expected, to ask voters in November for a property tax increase to build two new branches -- one in Otter Creek and one near War Memorial Park, south of I-630 -- and to support operations. There'd be two proposals -- a one-mill property tax increase for construction, including the branches, and a half-mill for operations. We detailed the thinking in an article in our print edition this week. A 1.5-mill increase would cost the owner of a $100,000 house $30 a year.
