Mike Huckabee's record
I tried a while back to use that new program, the Wikipedia scanner, to track who's made changes to Wikipedia entries, including the Mike Huckabee page. I didn't dig deep enough. Gnomes have been at work cleansing his entry of unflattering references. (This is now a better, more detailed link.) On state computers! Mike Beebe has had some cleanup, too.
As a public service against this kind of dastardly activity, I send out for handy Google search reference a link to our prize-winning story on Mike Huckabee's push to release the rapist and killer Wayne Dumond from prison, one of the things the scanner shows has been tampered with (though it's there now, but expressed in a form more favorable to Huckabee, without a reference to his famous letter saying he supported Dumond's release and including a reference to his book's account, which makes factual errors about Dumond's subsequent murder conviction in Missouri.). And here's a link with multiple sources to debunk the "fair tax" espoused by Mike Huckabee. Here's Ernest Dumas' primer on the governors' record. Here's a link to our blog post that broke open the gift registry story. Here's one when the Society of Professional Journalists asked him to reconsider his denial of press services to this newspaper. Here's just one of many articles and comments on his overuse of the state airplane, another touchy subject judging by Wikipedia edits. Since we've had a website change, we'll have to go back and repost our groundbreaking reporting on his expense account abuses at the Governor's Mansion early in his tenure. But we'll do that, so they too can be referenced easily, no matter who edits what from Wikipedia. Somebody would do well to dig up articles rounding up his many trips before the Ethics Commission, too. And an epic catalogue of the gifts he accepted until tighter ethics rules forced an end to the gift grab.

Comments
Max, get off of Huckabee's ass. Why don't you do some groundbreaking reporting on Hillary's cattle futures take while she was in Arkansas or those records that were subpoenaed that mysteriously showed up on a desk in the White House family quarters.

Anyone doing a web search will undoubtedly see a few hits for Arkansas Times. I just googled
Huckabee using "record" "history" "past" and AT came up at least two times on each search
and using "record" AT came up first due to freshness. So perhaps a good idea to insert 'record' in all further Huckabuck posts.

There is a certain hairdresser that use to work at the old Clip Joint, off of the square in Fayetteville that knows a lot about the Clinton's. Especially Bill. Woody, you know what I'm talking about????

There's hairdressers all over Fayetteville who jockey for a " I know a little something about Bill from doing his wife (girlfriend's) hair..."
They're like old suvs, not much good for anything but several of them around.

the only time anybody around here is off hucks ass is when he and his supporters start telling the truth about his record. it will be interesting if national reporters start getting interested enough to start asking around here about this nice guy image he is seeming to cultivate. when he gets mad at papers who actually ask negative questions and bars them may go against his nice image.

Went to the Juckabee for President 2008 website and wrote a piece about problems with the Fair Tax, nothing was said about Huckabee. They ignored it and didn't print it. They'll only print their version of the truth.
Since whatever happened with Clinton has nothing whatsoever to do with Huckabee's line of BS, then LRman is doing a pisspoor job of trying to distract us from the truth about the Huckster. Huck could shoot somebody and LRman would just pop off "Look, there goes Bill Clinton!!" Definitely can't dazzle us with any brilliance (the dim switch appears to be locked in place) and he appears to baffle himself more than us with his bottom shelf brand of BS.
"Honesty is the best policy in the long run, but for the short distance humbug has made pretty good time." - Josh Billings
Let's just say that Huckabee is only good for the short distance. Those lies, overly shaded truths, and "who me?!" coverups will catch up with that sorry peckerhead soon enough.

When told the plan could bankrupt small businesses, Mrs. Clinton sighed, "I can't be responsible for every undercapitalized small business in America."
"I wish Mr. Hsu well in dealing with the problems he's confronting."
In 2000 Independent Counsel Robert Ray issued his final report on Travelgate, stating that Hillary Clinton had made factually false statements but saying there was insufficient evidence to prosecute her.
"The great story here for anybody willing to find it, write about it and explain it is this vast right-wing conspiracy that has been conspiring against my husband since the day he announced for president." Monicagate
Hillary's brother, Hugh Rodham, collected $400,000 from two big-time criminals who got pardons. When the news of the payments broke, the Clintons claimed surprise and demanded Rodham give the money back.
Such "gifts" included $50,000 worth of furnishings that belonged to the White House, which the Clintons had to return, and some $86,000 worth of housewares for which the couple ultimately said they would pay.

By all means and lets not forget the $50 million dollar investigation by Kenneth Starr of the Whitewater affair the conclusion of which Starr found "no evidence of wrongdoing" on the part of the Clintons.

LRman has his accusations, Lwood has the verdict. Guess which golds more weight in a court of law?? In other words, the usual Repub tactics of throwing out accusations but running to hide when the issue lies mortally wounded by the facts. That's a typical Repub "cut and run" action; throw mud at someone, then holler that they're dirty.
LRman you are so transparent.

Once again, here's the Republican platform:
- Clinton did it.
- Clinton didn't do it.
- Hillary is evil.

Wow, if A-Red, LRMan and Wikipedia all say it, it must be true!
When you compare anything the Clintons have even been alleged to have done against all the stuff the Bushies and repubs have unquestionably done, whether relating to sex, fundraising, favors for buddies, pardons for pals, lost billing records, e-mails or destroyed hard drives, it can only mean one thing: the official slogan of the republican party is "Strain at Gnat, Swallow Camel."

you guys should stop attacking each other about candidates with baggage and look at Ron Paul. I used to follow Huckabee until I heard Ron Paul speak in Philadelphia. The media is trying to bury him because he has a good message that they don't want to hear. Do yourself a favor (seriously). look at what he says and think about it without media influence. You'll see that he wants this country to be like the founding father's had intended.
Also how many other candidates do you hear mentioning the super highway that is being built under the radar in Texas RIGHT NOW that leads from Mexico to Canada. Check it out. you owe it to yourself and your country to do so.
Remember, don't let the media make the choices for you. take note of how they are trying.

I don't know of anyone thats in politics that doesn't have some sort of blimish on their record. But, I do have a problem when someone in politics trys to be a dictator. I live in Arkansas and am a non-smoker and I have a real problem when Mr. Huckabee passed a law for all businesses to ban smoking in their faciltiies even if they had seprate smoking rooms. That should have be put to a vote by the people of Arkansas. And consolidation of the small school systems. The only thing that benefited from that was the larger school districts that got the moneies from the smaller schools. The kids did not benefit from it. All his pointed to Huckabee being a dictator. Then Huckabee got on this self ridicuious quest of professing his religion into the political race. Excuse me but isn't religion and state suppose to be kept separated? Folks, if you are going to get into the politics of the political race do the research yourself on the candidates. Words are easy to come by when you want to win at something but the truth of the matter is that promises are broken all the time. Check the records for yourself, don't rely on hear say.
