Praying for President Huckabee
Matilda's blog has a good one today. It's about a Baptist preacher in California now getting IRS scrutiny for endorsing Mike Huckabee's presidential candidacy in a press release on church stationery and on his radio show. Americans United for Separation of Church and State is on his case. But the preacher, Dr. Wiley Drake, a Southern Baptist Convention vice president who is pictured here with a sign that says he trusts God and Bush and now, presumably, Huckabee, has called in the Big Gun:
Dr. Drake's response to the complaint? According to Pastor Drake's press release he sent to Christiannewswire.com, he said, "In light of the recent attack from the enemies of God I ask the children of God to go into action with Imprecatory Prayer. Especially against Americans United for Separation of Church and State. I made an attempt to go to them via Matt 18:15 but they refused to talk to me. Specifically target Joe Conn or Jeremy Learing. They are those who lead the attack. (You can see their press release attack at www.au.org )"
What is Imprecatory Prayer? A prayer asking God to crush his enemies.
Here is a sample: "Break their teeth, O God, in their mouth: break out the great teeth of the young lions, O LORD."
UPDATE: I just clicked through to the Americans United website, which has more quotes from the good Christian pastor:
In a section of his press release called “How To Pray,” Drake includes a long list of biblical citations that call on God to smite enemies. For example, the alleged enemies of God “shall be judged,” “condemned,” and “his days be few….” Additionally, supporters should pray that the enemy’s “children be fatherless, and his wife a widow,” and “his children be continually vagabonds, and beg; let them seek bread also out of their desolate places.”
“Let there be none to extend mercy unto him,” Drake quoted, “Neither let there be any to favour his fatherless children.”
Zowie. Mike Huckabee is not much on cheek-turning. I know for sure he'd cut you off his news release list. But orphan your children?

Pitiful, pitiful, PITIFUL! If God has a white human face, it's bound to be red right now.

Sounds like another mad Rev Doctor using God and the church to justify spreading hate while evading taxes.. Perhaps he should retire and write the first "How To Be A Talibangelical" book.. Meanwhile a faith based blood presure check might be a good idea there Doc.
These are the potential terrorists we Americans need to be concerned about.

ENDTIMES are near:
..................."Learn From the Fall of Rome, US Warned"
The US government is on a 'burning platform' of unsustainable policies and practices with fiscal deficits, chronic healthcare underfunding, immigration and overseas military commitments threatening a crisis if action is not taken soon, the country's top government inspector has warned.
David Walker, comptroller general of the US, issued the unusually downbeat assessment of his country's future in a report that lays out what he called "chilling long-term simulations."
These include "dramatic" tax rises, slashed government services and the large-scale dumping by foreign governments of holdings of US debt.
Drawing parallels with the end of the Roman empire, Mr Walker warned there were "striking similarities" between America's current situation and the factors that brought down Rome, including "declining moral values and political civility at home, an over-confident and over-extended military in foreign lands and fiscal irresponsibility by the central government."

OK, this guy is an elected....ELECTED...official of the Southern Baptist Church. Baptists and other fundementalists get all bent out of shape when those of us who are not bible=thumping Baptists call them whack-jobs or nut cases or close-minded sheep or god forbid.... hypocrites , but what else can you surmise from this guy's ranting. He is a certifiable nut case. No wonder Baptists have a bad name among religions.

So this nutty preacher prays that all God's "enemies" will die and leave orphaned children and widows.
He denounces his own critics as being enemies of God. What an arrogant and deluded psychopath!
Praying for death and destruction is not a normal Christian response. It identifies these followers as a cult movement based on a "holy" leader's personality.
Perhaps God expects us to turn the other cheek while these cultists crack our teeth and orphan our children.

Imprecatory Prayer....that's the term I couldn't remember yesterday. I might just toss my voo doo doll and pins in favor of this Imprecatory Prayer thing if it works. Look out Mark Pryor!
One must wonder why this California preacher so full of hate and ready to kick some ass.....isn't in Iraq with Mitt Romney's sons? He could suit up, start spouting all this mumbo jumbo and top the hill waving the American flag and shooting everything that moves! Whip one of them Imprecatory Prayers on the towelheads Reverend and get this war won!
Funny how these church people who swear up and down you're life is trash unless you follow God's rules are simply no damn good at following rules themselves. Sorta tells me if I say the right incantation I can have a loving relationship with my wife and pork my neighbor too. If any of my neighbors spoke English I might like to have a little talk with them about neighborly love. How do you say in Spanish, "Hello lady, my wife will be at work all day, I have much Viagra."?
The laws are pretty plain. Yank this bozo's tax exempt status and then he can get his congregation to join in building a statue of his hero Huckabee twice as tall as Ronnie Floyd's crosses. Pay taxes and be one of us, brother! I think this is just more proof that you have to be a nut to be a Huckabee supporter.
Now I have to run, I'm very busy writing a screenplay for a movie idea I have. It's called Huckabees on a Plane. I don't know how to work Samuel L. Jackson into the movie, maybe he can wear a dress and I'll call him Alice. I've got to get done with dinner so I can toss a few of those Imprecatory Prayers at Mark Pryor too. I think my Surge is working!

DBI, try "Hola Señora, mi esposa estará en el trabajo todo el dia, y yo tiene mucho Viagra".

Wait DBI. If you chat her up with Widj's invitation in Spanish, your lady friend will look around to see who you're talking about. But most likely, she might think you have a split personality.
Instead, you must try this: "Yo tengo mucho Viagra!"
Be sure to beat your chest five times as you say the word "Yo" (Pronounce it like "Joe" -- that will be very macho).
Then, just for added emphasis, you should spell out "Viagra" in a really, really cool paraphrased rendition of that popular Mexican radio/TV commercial for Gleem toothpaste -- it spells out the name Gleem:
"Hay! Elay! Ay-Ay-Emay! GLEEEMmmm."
This should be very appealing if you do it with an unmistakable leer.
However, if you smirk it out like George Bush, it will be a certain turnoff.
You must practice this over many times in front of a mirror until you get it right.
Good luck Heroic One. Let us know how this caper plays out.

I don't keep up with Huckabee or this Drake man mentioned here..
People I take it that you do not believe in the God who created you! You sound like a bunch of lost people. How can God show mercy to you? How, if he withholds his mercy from them that believe in Him that calls upon his name how do you think he'll show you any mercy, he won't.
I can tell all if you don't confess your sins(that means confessing you are a sinner) and believe in Jesus as the Son of God you will burn in the lake of fire where the worm dieth not. There was a time when God winked at your ignorance but now he commands every man to be born again. In other words His wrath is, will be, kindled against you. There will NO ONE TO DELIVER YOU FROM HIS WRATH. Think about it. Which way would you prefer? His way or your way?
It is a fact His way is the only way! Go ahead and curse and rant and rave it will be added back to you in the end.
Now I ask how many of you think you'll miss hell and go to heaven? It is not too late to repent.. and believe, be a witness. You could speak in the new tongue.

Coming from someone who has trouble being coherent and logical at times, your new tongue might be subject to recall to fix those problems. You might ask for a check on the steering mechanism because it certainly veers to the far evangelical right; so much so, that it tends to cause you to go around in circles and repeat the same things o'er and o'er.
Drake is a petulant and mean S.O.B. He represents what is truly evil and wicked in this world. Definitely a Bozo for Christ type. (Click on name for picture.)
Here's Bozo Christian favorites:
1. Kill those who are not Christian or Jewish:
You must kill those who worship another god. Exodus 22:20
Kill any friends or family that worship a god that is different than your own. Deuteronomy 13:6-10
Kill all the inhabitants of any city where you find people that worship differently than you. Deuteronomy 13:12-16
Kill everyone who has religious views that are different than your own. Deuteronomy 17:2-7
Kill anyone who refuses to listen to a priest. Deuteronomy 17:12-13
Kill any false prophets. Deuteronomy 18:20
How does this square with that commandment syaing "Thou shalt not kill."?
2. Ignorance is bliss. Christians should not practice free inquiry nor socialize with non Christians:
Don't associate with non-Christians. Don't receive them into your house or even exchange greeting with them. 2 John 1:10
Shun those who disagree with your religious views. Romans 16:17
Hmmmm....so why is chasv breaking these verses to communicate with us and prove he believes in the scripture?
3. Judge other religions for not following Christ:
Whoever denies "that Jesus is the Christ" is a liar and an anti-Christ. 1 John 2:22
Christians are "of God;" everyone else is wicked. 1 John 5:19
The non-Christian is "a deceiver and an anti-Christ" 2 John 1:7
Talk about your rigged games. My god is a narcissist and is proud of it.
4. Here are my two personal favorites:
Everyone will have to worship Jesus -- whether they want to or not. Philippians 2:10
A Christian can not be accused of any wrongdoing. Romans 8:33
So, do all that killing, judging, calling people liars, and even breaking scriptural admonishments to not deal with us heathens and you go to the top of the class. Evangelical Christianity is just an old-fashioned version of The Sopranos.

Maxs, there is no excuse for anyone who's heard the great news to be fatherless, vagabond, enemy of God. Jesus did not come into the world to condemn the world but that the world would have life.
Matthew 6:33, says, "Seek ye first the Kingdom of God and his righteousness and all these things shall be added unto you." What things? I tell ye if you don't know.
What is the righteousness of God? If anyone knows write it right here. If you don't I'll be glad to tell.
As far as the enemies of God go they have no hope. I don't like to think anyone would be an enemy of God.

Jake, Jesus laid down his life so you can be saved. Like a lamb he died on the cross.. What I am getting at is this he went out of this world as a lamb but he is coming back as a roaring lion.
What is it about you that you deny the truth. I know you are smarter than that... but maybe not because you have to humble yourself to come as a little child to recieve salvation. Not only you but everyman everywhere.
Jake are you that enemy that your are talking about. Do you deny Christ?
Romans 8:33, Do you not see what that verse is saying? We are all sinners but with Christ all our sins are forgiven because we are justified and washed clean by the innocent blood that was shed by Jesus for the world to be saved.
I believe the bible when it says that everyone will bend their knee and every tongue will confess that Jesus is Lord. All will confess him now or later. Now is much better because latter will be too late for it to save you.
Jesus is the way the truth and the life that is why if a man deny's him that man is a liar, simple as that!
You said it. What do you call anyone who non christian... everyone knows you call them
anti-Christ.. that is simple also..
As far as you say for them not to associate with non believers Jesus said for his people to go into all the world to preach the gospel to all nations and tongues baptising them and making deciples of them.
God never lost a battle, jake! And never will, jake. Don't fight against the God that created you and made you.. Can't you understand that.
God is love!

Even as intelligent as humans have become to acquire knowledge and facts we always have something unexplainable or impossible to explain which is when we turn to theories, hypothetical ideas and guesses. It's these theories, hypothetical ideas and guesses from thousands of years ago that were used to plug into or explain the mysterious or unknown to form some of today's religions.
Again.. as science proves more things and people continue to rationalize religious views based on new found facts never before presented... I think we'll have more and more people challenge the existence of religions and their mandates.
One large difference between science and religion is this: In science, if the facts don't fit the theory, the theory is modified or tossed out. In religion, if the facts don't fit the theory, the facts are often tossed out. All too often, people reject evidence and the findings of science because they conflict with their religious assumptions. With their minds thus unhinged from the real world, they can have problems distinguishing fantasy from reality.
Because many people's minds are infected with a "god belief," they don't like to question their god's existence. "God belief" causes people to accept irrational ideas with little or no evidence. If I were to say that lemon snow cones could make people invisible, most people would likely ask for a little proof. But, a very old book says that 2000 years ago some guy was born with a ghost as his father and a virgin as his mother; this guy did miracles, was killed and came back to life - and billions of people accept the story seemingly without question.
If humankind were to disappear tomorrow, so would ideas - including the idea of God.
The English language even has a term for this - "reify" - which means "to regard something abstract as real or concrete." The god idea is about as abstract as possible, with no real evidence for existence. However, people have been regarding some god or gods as real for thousands of years.
Where did this "god" idea come from? Humans are pattern-seeking animals. We see patterns everywhere, such as similarities between different types of plants, animals and people. To a great degree, this capability has served us well by helping us understand and adapt to our environment. It also causes us to see patterns where they don't really exist - the man in the moon, clouds, Rorschach tests, and "intelligent" design in the universe. This is where the god idea comes from. Michael Shermer said it best. "The concept of God is generated by a brain designed by evolution to find design in nature (a very recursive idea)."
The philosophy of Secular Humanism declares that humans are most important, not any imaginary gods. We have the power, thru love, reason, science, courage, and vision, to solve our problems. We shape our destiny. We are each capable of personal development and satisfaction. Humanism holds as its highest goal the happiness, fulfillment, and freedom of all humankind.
Religion is about mass control and that is what ought to make you white-knuckled with fear rather than the threat of Hell or divine wrath. The former is there for all to see while the latter is in the fervent imagination of those already controlled. Those controlled by these delusions ask me why do I hate God. The real question should be why do they hate humanity so much.

Here's something for you to answer..
1. Where did man come from?
2. Where does man go when he dies?
I think you know both answers.
If you deny the truth then does that make you a liar.

I am one that can tell you, I told you this before, that I don't imagine there is a God because I saw Jesus and heard him talk to me.. you say there is no God. I can personally say you are wrong. Another thing I saw, I saw satan. He is real just as the word of God said. He has plans for all who are so smart they deny God.He is who the bible says he is. You are the one who's imagining there is no God..
It behooves me to witness to a self proclaimed heathen.

1. Where did man come from?
Mankind evolved from the primates. Documented, researched, accepted as scientifically proven. Evidence based.
2. Where does man go when he dies?
Physically, back into the primordial elements from whence those atoms and molecules came. Dust unto dust, ashes unto ashes, etc. All evidenced by our own eyes. Assuming there is a soul or spirit, nothing has been shown to prove that it continues beyond death other than a certain fearful hope. All answers to that are speculations and are without proof and verifiable evidence.
"I think you know both answers." Most certainly, I do. I believe in facts and reason and base my judgment accordingly. It seems you rely on faith and indoctrination and make your judgment upon that basis. My personal belief is as profound and meaningful as yours. I think men and women should be free to think as adults and not forced by anyone to be a slave to some notion that they are not responsible enough to think for themselves or behave properly without some divine Nanny. The phrase "be like a child" is indicative of the naivete' and unquestioning acceptance required by extreme religions.
Having answers doesn't mean that you know the answers, chasv. You parrot what you've been told to say; you believe what you've been told to believe. You remain like a child and think like a child. It doesn't take much imagination to figure out what would happen to mankind if only children existed.
I prefer to think as an adult, be respected as an adult, and to have an adult perspective on life. If you want to call me heathen so be it. A rose by any other name....
Humans are like flowers. Whether they are hybridized, in garden beds, out in the wild, or considered weeds, outside of human eyes they are basically the same mechanism. All are an important part of the eco-system. All serve a function. All live and die and return to the soil from whence they came. It is humans who want to segregate them into beautiful and ugly, perfect and imperfect, useful and useless, worthwhile and worthless. In reality, the flowers are none of these things unto themselves.
Isn't God like those humans and the flowers? Wanting to segregate us into beautiful and ugly, perfect and imperfect, useful and useless, worthwhile and worthless. If He is a god then why does He act so damnably human?
