Surprise. Karl Rove lies
Turdblossom has been busily selling -- and media have been eagerly lapping up -- his line that Hillary Clinton's unfavorable rating at 49 percent in a recent Gallup poll is the highest ever by a presidential front-runner, save a 34 percent for Al Gore.
Media Matters did the research. Gallup polled Bush's favorable/unfavorable numerous times in 2003-04 before his second ascension. He was consistently higher than 40 percent in 2004, once hitting 47 percent. He managed to get elected anyway. (If you believe the Ohio vote was legitimate.)
And speaking of approval ratings, Hillary is at 81 percent in New York among Democrats. That means a lot A decent number of Republicans (36 percent and 60 percent of independents) are happy with her work, too, according to recent poll.

Comments
Looks like Media Matters (the unbiased group of folks they are) neglected to consider how GWB was an incumbent in 2003-04, unlike Mr. Gore or Mrs. Rodham Clinton.
Nice stretch.
And, speaking of approval ratings, how's that Pelosi-led Congress doing?

Yes, Max, but unlike Bush, is she going to be a "uniter" not a "divider?"

So what you're acknowledging, Red, is that Mr. Bush's status as an incumbent gave people a greater and more genuine opportunity to disapprove of him than they did/do Mr. Gore and Mrs. Clinton? Poor George, always at a disadvantage!
The current congress would have a much higher approval rating if they would impeach this pack of criminals.
PELOSI for president 2008!
Hank, I gnashed teeth aplenty when the SCOTUS gave us Bush, however I accepted that he was president and was all ears when he said he would be a uniter. Didn't. Happen.
Hell will be full of Republicans, but not soon enough.

Sorry for the confusion, Hugh. I was calling into question the premise of Media Matters' blog post, which Max dutifully posted on this blog. I made no apologies, or qualifications, I just pointed out the fact the comparison being alluded to is questionable due to differences in positions of the principles.
Also, the current Congress would never convict "this pack of criminals." Surely, you know that.

"Also, the current Congress would never convict "this pack of criminals." Surely, you know that."
Hence, the low approval ratings.

the low ratings are for not totally stopping the war and impeaching the liars that red so dearly loves. congress knows they do not have the votes to override dumbass and his veto pen so a vote to stop the war is a waste of time at this point. a lot of people do not understand that congress cannot just pass a bill and just stop it. i still do not understand at least an attempt at impeachment of both dumbass and his handler.

The 81% is amoung Dems and would not include Republicans, according to the posted link.
ARK. BLOG: Correct. The internal numbers show 36 percent of Republicans and 60 percent of independents rate her favorably.

'. . . Well over half (57 percent) say they do not like learning about political issues in other countries,' and 32 percent expressed a lack of interest for homespun politics, the Harris Poll group said."
This might shake the concept of Rove as "king maker," but notice a similarity between die-hard Busheviks and a group in this poll?

We could have Pelosi for President in '07 if Congress would start jailing these missing witnesses hiding behind executive prevledge when they get back from their long vacation next month. Whip a little Judy Miller on Meiers and Rove and watch how fast they sing. White people can't do jail....ask Scooter.
Unless they kill her, Hillary will be the next President, just in time to use all the new super-special-all seeing, all spying powers Cheney has given the White House. If she wants to do the right thing, she'll roll everything back to what it used to be. It's not that I want Democrats to win...I want America to win.
PS after being signed in constantly since 1968, suddenly starting last night I'm signed out every time I go to post. I figure either Huckabee or Pryor is putting the hex on me........

DBI,
fill in your info in all the boxes above this text box. Then check the "Remember personal info?" box
Once I did that the sign outs quit.
Putting the Congressional ratings into perspective, 30% is very high for Congress. As an article in WSJ pointed out last year most people DISAPPROVE of Congress but approve of their Congressman/woman.
Voters wanted something done about Iraq and what they got was a majority going along with the Disaster Monkey. Not good. Somebody is gonna have a lot of explaining to do next Nov.
