Bush in Arkansas -- UPDATE
First report, from Doug Thompson of Morning News. He will be lunching with the Ayatollah Womack in Rogers. Perhaps a little compassionate conservatism will wear off on the mayor.
IDIOT UPDATE: Against broad national consensus in favor of extending health care coverage to children of the hard-working lower middle class, Bush tried to make the case that this is expansion of federal government provided medicine. Yeah, terrible. Like Medicare. What a disaster that has been. It's only been an abiding comfort to tens of millions, lifted the elderly poor out of grinding poverty and administered at a cost far below that of private industry. What we need is Halliburton-style health care. Poor care at inflated prices available only to the lucky few.
And here's updated coverage, if you can stand it.

Comments
Three groups, two from Fayetteville and a small one in Rogers/Bentonville , were poised and ready to demonstrate-assemble in opposition the WPE*. I'm sure Ayatollah Womack (great label!) cooperated with Bush storm troopers to keep up the facade that Bush is somehow without opposition locally. The secrecy was well-maintained. I must give credit to the criminal alliance in our Wht House, who are lousy, corrupt, incompetent, insufficient, idiotic, friggin crazy, about all things of statehood. However they are skilled, knowledgeable and talented at secrecy.
*Worst President Ever.
>>Boozman has said he will not vote to override. As of now, sponsors of the bipartisan SCHIP bill lack the votes needed in the House.<<
Don't you love the way Cheneybush can con some people into building their own coffins?

Ya know the fact that Boozman is a DOCTOR willing to let sick kids go without help....well, Jesus...can it get any worse? Didn't Boozman take a Hypocritical oath or something when they gave him his DOCTOR wings? Must he kiss Bush ass to the point that he turns his back on sick children?
I know he's hard-wired to the White House, but damn.....I thought his better side (FK me for thinking there was one) would come thru when it came to sick children. With the kind of representation Arkansas is sending to DC.....are we in danger of losing our license to be a state?
As far as Bush and Boss Womack.....they probably went out after lunch and shot tame Mexicans from the back of a Jeep. It was the Lunch of the Hard Asses and you know nothing good came from the meeting of those two minds. GIT OUT....I say to Bush and take Ayatollah Womack with ya!

I watched some of Monkeyboy's irrelevant performance (if his crimes weren't so huge/many, I'd actually feel pathos for his farcical 'shows')...and that gang behind was very, very scary. I kept looking for the Christian joy that should have been emanating from their shiny white faces...
With doctors like Boozman/Fritz, I'd just soon take my chances with mother nature. I honestly wonder if there's a shred of compassion/love for humanity left in the GOP.

Ya know the fact that Boozman is a DOCTOR <<
He's an optometrist. They were once the chiropractors for eye glasses. He's never been to medical school. His dead brother, Faye, was an Md who publicly stated that women cannot get pregnant from being raped. sounds like med school didn't help him a lot.

My question is how are we going to pay for $35 billion to fund 6 million more kids?
Or how we can justify gutting 80% of the funding for those 6 million kids by 2012?
The answers lie in the SCHIP bill.
Answer number 1 is tobacco taxes. Do we have enough smokers to pay for $35 billion?
Answer number 2 is to get around PAYGO rules.
Those two tidbits are surprisingly omitted from the current debate.

Aw Red, just get you a few packs of "W" Gum, issued today in Rogers by Streibling.
"W" your pleasure,
"W" your fun"
I'm not joking on that one. They actually did it. An entire case of "W" Gum, in red, white and blue.
Local News is a joke. 14 min of ongoing praise the Bush, one 20 sec message from the opposition and a couple stations didn't even show the opposition.
"Your fixin to see a budget fight"
WPE, Rogers, AR
Wish the Republican Mafia could have had a budget fight 3 years ago when they were running up huge deficits, building $250 million bridges to nowhere, bribing like a junkie on meth, and generally destroying the financial credibility of America.
Where will they get the money to treat sick children Red? Roll back the tax cuts for the upper 10%.

An expansion of federal government provided medicine? Well, sure. Those kids need it more than, say ole King George, who had his last medical check-up at home -- some tests done at the White House and a colonoscopy at Camp David, fer chrissakes.
Oh, but I forget. He's the king. Goes with the territory, right? Any of you remember back in the 50s and 60s, Queen Elizabeth had her children in a delivery room set up in Buckingham Palace? But the next crop of royals were born in London hospitals. The Brits are going one way and King George is going the other. I guess hospitals are only for peons, if, that is, peons can pay for it.

eLwood,
That could be a possibility, but the bill Bush vetoed doesn't have that in it.
The only place the money is coming from is from the tobacco tax, and we don't have enough smokers to make up the difference.
This bill can't be amended (and wasn't even allowed to be amended in the House) because it has already gone to the President.
I would much rather see a veto of a poorly written (and I know GOP from the Senate were involved in this) bill than the passage of one with an obvious and acknowledged fatal flaw. Namely, that we need 22 million new smokers to pay for it - and knowing damn well we will never get them, much less want them.

Wait till Real ID hits you next year Red. It's a Bush mandate for creating the Commie Dream state of every citizen or inhabitant having a National ID. Bushco only funded $75 million for it. It will cost many times more. Guess who picks up the tab? The states, that's who and our good ex-guv had the sense to speak out about it at the Nat. Governors Conference a few years ago. When your '08 drivers lic costs you between $75 and $120 dollars don't blame Hillary. Just blow a kiss to your favorite Monkey Boy.
It's an unfunded mandate. Bush is no stranger to unfunded mandates. NCLB is another unfunded mandate. If we can raise $12 billion per month to fight for Eron, EXXON, Mobil, Haliburton, etc in Iraq, the balance of funding needed for SCHIPS will not be difficult.

Well....it's happened! I've lived too long! First the fate of millions of sick kids are in the hands of new smokers and Red is worried that America can't grow enough of them. Why...back in the 40s when the Japs were on us like fleas...we could grow 40 million new smokers overnight! FDR knew all he had to do was run a few of those fast talking tobacco auctioneer radio commericals....blahblahblahblahblahblah...SOLD AMERICAN!, and kids 8 to 18 would line up at the feed store to buy some of them LSMFT...Lucky Strike Green Has Gone to War.....non-filtered cigarettes!
We smoked those Japs out of 5000 Philippine islands with Old Golds hanging from our lips. We whipped the Germans shooting with one hand while rolling a roll-your-own with the other hand. Nicotine won't stop a bullet, but it by god helps close the hole after yer shot! When they started putting them filters on cigarettes is when America started to go soft.
So don't you worry your red head about it Red. Issue the call and America's youth will step forward with a disposable lighter in each hand. However, if they don't. Won't ya please give up some of your Bush bucks to help out sick kids?
I'm thinking your not worried about not getting 22 million new smokers. I'm thinking you're not worried about the health of 22 million new smokers. I don't think you give a damn about sick kids. I think your just worried about your damn taxes going up. Even a slight tax increase to save the lives of sick kids isn't on your list of thing to ever ever ever do.
But what kind of hollering are you going to do when the bill comes due for the 5000 smart bombs that Bush has ordered for Iraq. Each one of them suckers cost 300 thousand dollars. And they're dropped from 142 million dollar a piece jets. And we're dropping them on people who live in caves, eat sand and don't know what the FK cable TV is. Will you mind paying your share of that bill to help out Exxon? A pox on Dr. Boozman....turning his back on sick kids.

My granddaughter has a rare bladder problem and probably would not be alive today but for the ARKIDS First program. She's five years old.
My husband has many medical problems and all insurance companies turned him down years ago. We have spent all our savings and still owe more than $35,000 in medical bills just during the past year. The latest was a month ago.
Get this: Checked into the outpatient surgery clinic at 8:00 a.m., surgery began at 8:30 a.m., went home at 1:00 p.m. Bill from hospital: Over $14,000. Doctor and lab extra. WTF?
What we need is a health care system that works for all Americans. Actually, the government, when it comes to health care, does a better job in keeping down overhead than the insurance companies I am all about universial health care. Let sinners (including me) pay to the hilt for it.

Poor BlueRidge....we're also living what you're talking about. We had our kids on ARKids for a couple of years, thinking getting them insured was better than none of us having any. During that time my healthy kids stayed healthy and those are the happiest words a parent will ever type. I don't know how a parent lives thru a terrible childhood illness. I really should think of how lucky I am to have 2 healthy kids who have never spent a moment in an ER every time I think of Cheney, Bush, Pryor, Lincoln and Boozman and get all depressed. WWIII isn't as scary to think about as something horrible happening to your kids.
I'm willing to pay 61 cents extra for a pack of cigarettes in hopes of one day seeing some kind of government move that will allow me to have insurance for the first time in 15 years. The only way I am going to avoid crushing medical bills as I get over is for the Rapture to come and I'm not counting on that, plus according to chasv, the Rapture is going to launch all the Christian into space, so that means all those working in health care today will be sitting here looking up in the air.....right beside me.
I've got 7000 dollars worth of medical bills hanging over me. First thing I did was stop treatment. At $262.00 per treatment, for a procedure done for free at any blood bank, one would have to be a Walton to keep running up debt like that. It's pretty sad when living longer only means having more time to try to pay off your gigantic medical bill which will only grow larger the longer you live. Screw them.....I'll die and they can stuff it.
Remember when Americans paid their medical bills? That was back before medical costs went thru the roof. Why can't people pay their medical bills now? Why are 43 million Americans without medical insurance? It's not because we've become too lazy to work. It's not because we've suddenly decided to stop paying our own bills. It's because they've PRICED THEMSELVES OUT OF MY MARKET!
A family living on 40 or 50 thousand a year (miles over the average income of people living in AR) cannot pay 5 to 7 hundred dollars a month for medical insurance. The same family cannot pay $262.00 to have blood drawn every week and then every 2 weeks for a year. Or pay 14,000 for 5 hours in an outpatient surgical unit. WE CAN'T PAY THAT KIND OF MONEY BECAUSE WE DON'T MAKE THAT KIND OF MONEY!
What I'll never understand is why insurance companies appear to happily pay for wildly expensive tests, treatments and supplies. If I had health insurance the treatments I'm skipping would cost my insurance company almost 3 times what I'm paying. If 262.00 pisses me off....why wouldn't 500+ make an insurance company fighting mad? There is an African-American in the woodpile somewhere.....2 natural enemies hugging over my dead body....huh uh.....it ain't right.
Obviously they're in cahoots somewhere in all this. Republicans don't want universal health care.....OK....make you a deal....go force the giant medical systems and giant insurance companies to charge a reasonable rate for their services and I'll stop asking for the government to save my family from winding up under the bridge. I'll be waiting by the phone for your call.
PS Doctor Boozman might look like more of a man if he'd renounce his own free government insurance before he votes to sustain Bush's veto to deny health care to sick kids. That's like the whore calling the kettle black.
