Straight talk express
A quick scan of the wires indicates that Mike Huckabee drew attention at last night's debate for his willingness to depart from Republican rose-colored-glasses orthodoxy.
The debate put on clear display differences on the economy, trade and presidential power. Mr. Thompson suggested that concerns about the economy were largely unfounded, even as he warned that the nation’s long-term economic health was at risk because of increased spending on Social Security and Medicare as the population ages.
“If you look at the short term, it’s rosy,” Mr. Thompson said. “I think if you look at a 10-year projection, it’s rosy. But we are spending money we do not have.”
But Mike Huckabee, a former governor of Arkansas, suggested that the warm view of the economy might be jarring to many Americans watching the debate.
“They’re going to hear Republicans on this stage talk about how great the economy is, and, frankly, when they hear that, they’re going to probably reach for the dial,” Mr. Huckabee said.

"...they're going to probably reach for the dial," Mr. Huckabee said.
Yup, the economy is so bad that we can't even afford modern TEEvees with them there remotes...
Anyway, I'd have changed the channel no matter what....

The Huckster is trying to find any angle he can that'll separate him from the rest of that last pack, and get him any kind of publicity. It's pretty obvious he's running for VP. I wonder who he prefers for the top of the ticket.

The fact that Huckabee may be the best Republican candidate says a lot more about the general shittiness of the field than it does about Huckabee's good qualities.

The Huckster's mouth got him in trouble with his suicide quip.
It's like being the backup quarterback. You are the best quarterback on the team until you actually have to play and throw your first interception.

Trouble all of us face it the kool-aid recipe concocted by Dick Cheney who famously said:
.......DEFICITS DON'T MATTER...................
The Raygun Recession, the deepest since 1958, was fueled by his tax cuts coupled with the largest military buildup since WWII. Raygun's policies spelled sure defeat for Geo H.W. Bush as he struggled to
make ends meet and had to break his vow of no new taxes.
Tell us, Hank Rearend, how much more lower taxes are going to payoff Cheney's HUGE deficits????
Next time we elect a puppet president I suggest some real digging on the puppeteers.
