The Hutchinsons divided
Funny squib in Stephens Media coverage of The Huckster.
Support for Huckabee's presidential bid does not run deep in the Hutchinson family.
Jeremy Hutchinson, a former state legislator and son of former U.S. Sen. Tim Hutchinson, is helping Fred Thompson's campaign for the GOP nomination.
His father and his uncle, former congressman Asa Hutchinson, have endorsed Huckabee.
"I wish Governor Huckabee well, he's doing very well, and I'm confident he'll continue to do well," Jeremy Hutchinson said. "I don't think my support matters much anyway. It's not going to affect either one of their fortunes."
Jeremy Hutchinson said he thought Thompson had a broader base of support and could better compete in the general election.
Huckabee, when asked about the younger Hutchinson's endorsement, said: "The more mature, seasoned and experienced Hutchinsons are with me, and I'll leave it at that and thank them for it."

Comments
And you know the more mature, seasoned and experienced Hutchinsons are holding their noses while endorsing Huckabuck. I can personally promise that Jeremy is exactly right when he says his support doesn't matter....as Fred Thompson drops like turd in a swimming pool. I think old Fred is so lazy he probably don't bother to pull his pants back up after a dump.
Huckabee is doing well, rising to the top of a political party that won't be winning any more elections for decades. Being a well thought of loser has certain merits, I'm sure. And there is cash to be raked off into the Huckabee Golden Retirement account, so it's a win-win-lose for Huckabee. Much ado about nothing.

I can think of a lot of things you can be "leaving at that" there, Huck...

Shoot. I thought this was about Tim's new legal battle with his ex. She wants documents to prove he's living up to his financial obligations under their divorce agreement, while he says she should just trust him and his financial advisors. Ri-i-i-ght.

Seriously, how can Jeremy Hutchinson endorse anything? Don't you have to have standing for an endorsement to mean something? He's a lobbyist, correct? Thus, Jeremy Hutchinson endorsing Fred Thompson is rather like a slut defending a whore. They do so, not to save the reputation of the other, but because they know they are guilty of the same sins, if only on a small scale. So Jeremy Hutchinson is endorsing someone? That means something only to Jeremy Hutchinson. I can stand up and proclaim myself king of France and it will have the same meaning as Jeremy's endorsement.
On the other hand, Asa owed Huckabee for stepping out and supporting him during the Governor's race. These two are about as natural of a mix as oil and water. Despite that, Asa is doing the stand up thing and supporting a man who supported him. I think it speaks highly of Asa, as Asa probably doesn't believe Huckabee has much of a shot. Asa is doing it out of loyalty. Say what you will about their political beliefs, but I think this shows character on Asa's part. It would be much easier to jump on the band wagon of one of the other "leading candidates", but he has not. That has to be hard to do and I have to give him kudos.

The following is much better than anything John Brummett has written about the Huckster. It's short.
Huckabee Fever: Catch It!
Mike Huckabee is the closest thing to a rock star here at the FRC's WB. He is the only candidate who actually comes from the evangelical community. (That's actually a Huckabee talking point, but it's true. He's a former Baptist minister, after all.) As I've mentioned before, Huckabee is making a strong pitch for the Brownback votes. His main competitor, Mitt Romney, spoke yesterday.
Huckabee's speech today had an anger and ferocity to it that is well outside the conventional wisdom on Huckabee. The guy who is commonly described as easygoing, warm, and funny seemed seriously pissed that the "holy word of God" is being violated, according to Huckabee, on abortion and on gay marriage. He emphasized that America needs to "make it constitutionally clear that life begins at conception" in order to end the "holocaust of liberalized abortion." Yikes.
He also railed against candidates who "lip sync" the hymnals of the evangelical Right. You listening, Rudy? And he raged against candidates who have more positions on the core issues than "Elvis had waist sizes." You listening, Romney?
After a sea of biblical stories, Huckabee had this core point to make: "I do not spell G-O-D as G-O-P. Our party may be important, but not as important as our principles." He urged the attendees not to conflate their loyalty to their Christian values with their loyalty to the party that most frequently represents them. If the Republican Party doesn't speak for the Christian Right, said Huckabee, stand up, do something, stay true. (When I heard that, all I could think was, "Let's go third party!")
The crowd ate it up. Can Giuliani win this nomination without the evangelical vote? Can Huckabee win it without anything else?

Oh please....even after a wonderful night's sleep and perfect fall weather....I can't swallow any kind words for Asa's character. Let's talk about Asa's penis....at least I'm pretty sure he has one.
And think about it! America so driven to its knees that we're looking up at Mike Huckabee? Please please let all this just be a Pam Ewing dream......in a minute Bobby will walk out of that shower and Bill Clinton will be in the White House starting his historic 4th term, the world still loves the USA and we'll all be drinking that 3 Bubble Up and eating that Rainbow Stew........sheesh!

Ron Paul . . . 14.98%??? I can't figure these people out. This must mean about fifteen percent of them are at least partly sane.
