Better cab service

Yellow Cab has scheduled a press conference to talk about what it says have been across-the-board improvements in its service in Little Rock, from cabs to call center. Welcome news, if true. Now, if you could ride from the airport to Hillcrest for less than it costs to ride from LaGuardia to midtown Manhattan ($24).

Their release is on the jump.

BACKGROUND:
Yellow Cab is committed to changing the taxi cab industry in Little Rock. Since 2004, the company has replaced its entire fleet, and a new telephone system with automatic call distribution provides prompt customer service.  The company also instituted a formal business orientation course for all drivers, which includes passenger assistance training and defensive driving instruction.  For customer convenience all taxis were recently upgraded to include a credit card swipe and a GPS tracking system.
Yellow Cab’s meter rates are established by the City of Little Rock.  It is the only taxi company in the city to be licensed and permitted by the City Board of Directors.  Each vehicle is independently owned and operated.
Yellow Cab drivers service approximately 600,000 passenger trips and transport more than 800,000 passengers annually.  For more information about Yellow Cab and its services visit www.yellowcablr.com or call 501-570-5999.

$24 is the exact same fare from my campus to Lambert Intl. Airport.

Huck is leading Iowa by 3.

And where is Maxwell Smart when you need him?

God, I hate him.

Yellow Cab no-showed on me a couple times when I needed to get from Hillcrest to the airport, and the ensuing mad dashes were too stressful. When I needed to get home from the airport once, the driver smelled of eau de marijuana and got lost in Hillcrest. These experiences confirmed for me that I won't use Yellow Cab again.

If Yellow Cab "is committed to changing the taxi cab industry in Little Rock," they should begin with hiring responsible drivers who show up.

I also see Veterans and another cab company (black & white? checker?) driving around Little Rock with the exact same phone number as yellow cab. Are they all the same company?

You can still *dial* FRanklin 4-0333 to reach the Black & White Cab Co., which is also Yellow. That phone number is probably as old as I am.

I've gotten good service the handful of times I've used the cabs in LR over the last few years.

The press conference went well today...excellent attendance by dignitaries, etc. BUT STODOLA ARRIVED 30 MINUTE LATE AND HELD THE WHOLE EVENT UP UNTIL HIS disHONOR GOT HIS FANNY THERE. HOW RUDE!!!!!
