Come to order, class
Thanks to the Jonesboro Sun for this report on school bus discipline. A Nettleton Schools bus driver, Ervin Franklkin Bowdon, was suspended Friday after students reported he threatened to shoot them.
Student Josh McGinnis, 18, reported that he was trying to stretch his knee when Bowdon threatened him, according to a police report. Police indicated McGinnis recently had knee surgery.
McGinnis reported that Bowdon said he should be respected because he was a former Marine and could hurt him.
“I asked him how,” McGinnis wrote in a statement to police. “He said, ‘I could bring my AK-47 and shoot all of you in five seconds.’”

Good to hear the fellow was fired and that the students took the statement seriously enough to report it. Doesn't such a statement warrant a court ordered psychological evaluation or perhaps the fellow should relinquish his weapons to authorities for a time.

Wonder if that school district lets bus drivers carry students around without a completed background check in the same way Cabot schools let that drunk driver work for them... Used to be parents were asked, "It's 10:00...do you know where your children are?" These days they need to be asked, "Do you REALLY know who your children are WITH?" Of COURSE there should be intervention...this guy could show up and start shooting!

Probably just foolish mouthing, but you can't assume that. Even if it was, it shows a lack of enough sense to ferry mouthy teenagers around.
Looks like the schools are having trouble getting bus drivers. I see signs everywhere looking for them.
Maybe we should eliminate the buses and make the young'uns walk ten miles in the snow to get to school everyday? Might cut down on type 2 diabetes. Then again, their parents might kill the little mutts when they discovered they were skipping school. Guess how I know this . . .

Back in the old day, "wait" here it comes, ya know I had to walk a half mile on a mud road so my daddy could put me in a small boat and paddle me across the creek, to catch the bus that if it didn't hit the bad mud holes maybe got us to school on time, yeah uh huh. The driver of course was like the captain of a ship. By gawd, you behaved or when he stopped the bus to let you off, he got off with you and personally delivered you into the hands of a somewhat irate parent, who immediately began looking around for the nearest bush to pull off a limb or the belt. With that said, I realize that times have changed and that now every little snot nosed shit will do everytihng they can to annoy anyone in postion of authority, simply to show they can get away with it. Think about it my friends, he was "stretching his leg", OK, maybe he should't have said AK-47 but maybe just grabbed him by the nape of the neck abd bitch slapped him a couple of times, that will usually get their attention. The scary thing is that considering mcchimpy's effort to assist vets, this could have turned ugly, who knows what the man has been through.

Don't peope understand English anymore?? He said, "I COULD bring my AK-47 and shoot all of you in five seconds." The use of could implies theoretical intent. He didn't say, "I WILL bring . . ."
The feigned outrage of the public is typical of those who have NEVER worked with today's youth. I doubt that Mr. Bowdon truly intended any harm to anyone. Most psychotic individuals do not warn you of their intent -- they just go get the AK-47 and shoot.
