Hump night
Here's another opportunity to vent. Abeles: Better manners are in order.
We caught a great cabaret act tonight, pianist/singer Charles Cochran, backed by a pro bassist and drummer. Best song? Stephen Koch should have been there. A fine take on Louis Jordan's "Saturday Night Fish Fry."
I'll do something tomorow, but probably not much. Too much cooking to do.

Sorry I didn't see this open line before I posted this earlier. It's a point-and-click game where you locate world capitals, famous places, etc. Basically, something to do while pies are in the oven.

Nice youtube as always Hugh mann
Well it's not even T day and I stopped counting pie eaten by the slice yesterday.. now just counting whole pies. It a bake-a-thon here on the Kings River where temps dropped about 45 degrees in the last twenty four hours.. Nice to be able to build a fire inside and wear a jacket outside.. All the animals went into instant hibernation mode..
If I were in NY I would have to stop into the Plaza for a drink then hop over to Bergdorf Goodman for the good garments... Most of all just enjoy the long walks in random directions, bar and cafe hopping along the way, then catch a cab back.
Looks like our sailors were heading to Hong Kong for a bit of R&R with family and were turned away by the Chinese Government a few hours ago..

Wonder what the real story behind this might be...

I realize this disappoints DBI more than me..well maybe not:
Judge spares Vitter from testifying
WASHINGTON (AP) -- A federal judge has spared U.S. Sen. David Vitter of Louisiana an embarrassing appearance on the witness stand in a prostitution case.
Vitter was under subpoena to testify about his ties to a Washington, D.C., escort service. Deborah Palfrey, accused of running a prostitution ring, had sought to question Vitter about whether he paid for sex.
But U.S. District Judge Gladys Kessler canceled the hearing today, saying it served no purpose in the criminal case against Palfrey.
Vitter has acknowledged being involved with the escort service, Pamela Martin and Associates. But after issuing brief statements and apologizing for "a very serious sin," he has ducked follow-up questions.

Yeah....for God's sake haven't we bothered this poor Senator enough? What family values Christian hasn't paid a whore to spin on his privates like a shiny top with fake boobs? Poor Republicans....can't 45 minutes pass in a day without a new scandal, a new FK up, more dead on their watch, gay preachers....you name it. They're constantly being embarrassed by those horrible Democrats who scream every time some Congressman gets caught FK'ing someone they're not sposed to, or lying to Fitzgerald, or spinning a new way to kill our kids longer and harder. Longer and harder.....now...I'm not talking about Vitter or Craig....I'm talking about killing American soldiers for Exxon.
I just looked here to see that's it's after 3:30 am....all the hard cooking is done at my house. Everyone is safe in bed and the dogs are snoring. I just thought I'd look one more time to see if maybe Pryor got caught in bed with Lieberman or maybe some kind of Thanksgiving blessing would pop up.....Like Bush & Cheney under arrest or something. We need something good to happen to our country.
We need our justice system to work again. We need the higher ups in our military to pull their heads out of Cheney's ass long enough to remember why we fought WWII and how we fought WWII and how before the Swiftboaters and the politicizing of the military, great men did honorable service that saved us time after time.
Soviet America sucks. Those who've made it this way should be punished.....now, not in 2009. Our Cheney To The Hague turkey, Bush in Prison turkey, Mark Pryor Defeated mash potatoes, Out of Iraq sweet potatoes/peaches, I Hate Neo-cons pumpkin praline pie and cheap Hiland Dairy egg nog are ready for tomorrow's celebration.
I had time to add 3 more homemade pies I've named Bring Back Habeas Corpus Chocolate, Never Torture Again Apple pie, and Justice for Valerie Plame Apple pie....cause I likes apple pie. Oh and I forgot Ma's Restore America Potato Salad she made every holiday since 1949....wifey and I make it now with a little telephonic instructions from the rest home...it's the best in the whole state!
To all of you....have a really happy Thanksgiving today...be good to your family...especially good. If nothing continues to go well for America, next Thanksgiving could be hell. Good luck to us all.

Archaeopteryx, today is turkey day and a happy one it is, you just made me smile a little more, all the best to you and yours. And a special wish for all the military folks, for those in bad places to make it through the day, for others to have a good meal, and for those lucky enough, spend the day with family and friends.

Hugh, thanks for the way cool website. I'm going to have my whole family try this today when the gaming begins (that's board games, BTW). I made it to level 5 with just over 136,000 points. Is that good, bad, or what? Would level 6 (of 12) be about average? Hmmmm . . . This would also be good in geography classes. Oh wait, didn't we do away with those?
I got all my "cooking" done yesterday. The matriarchs of the family won't allow me to be responsible for anything important. I was in charge of a salad and a snack item (I went with seven-layer dip) for the previously-mentioned gaming session. I didn't even have to turn the oven on. I'm surprised I didn't get assigned drinks and ice again; my aunt beat me to that one.
It's cold here in Conway - about 39 degrees right now - but at least I won't have to wear shorts to Mamaw's house for dinner. I may even be able to wear a jacket. Happy Thanksgiving to everyone.

Archaeopteryx has let the cat out of the bag on this bright cold Turkey Day! You sly fox! Pretending this news from Centerton (where the hell is that?) is only of local interest. What Arch has done, ladies and germs, is tip us off to the basis of the upcoming Mark Pryor campaign for reelection!
When the whole Cheney-Bush-Lieberman-torture loving-war mongering-vote with Bush 73% of the time-Pryor record is hung around Mark Pryor's neck, Senator Pryor will use some form of a Centerton-type story about his secret abduction by a stealth gang of Satan worshipers or neo-con Martians or Kryptonite covered Rove-bots. Ohmagod! It's not Mark's fault! It wasn't even him voting for all those Bush appointees. He didn't vote for torture after all! He's a peace lover after all and thought a Lieberman was some kind of liver flush!
I cain't wait to hear how Marky escaped from his cruel captors or the true identity of the bastid clone that took his place as soon as he was elected back in 2002. Today I am so thankful to find out I voted right in 2002....I did vote for a Democrat after all! Ain't my fault or Pryor's that he was abducted by those who hate our troops.....it's the fault of Satan worshipers or neo-con Martians or Kryptonite covered Rove-bots! If only we'll reelect the real Mark Pryor next year....he'll show them a thing or two! Sorry Rebekah! Now that the real Mark Pryor's back....we can forget the past and look forward to 6 years of peace loving, non-torture straight Democrat party line votes out of the real Mark Pryor.
America is saved at the last minute! The news is out! It's not Mark's fault! Oh thank you Arch! I knew there had to be a good reason Arkansas's junior Senator had gone neo-con nuts on us! To the Hague with alien Mark Pryor! To the Hague! Wait till I tell Ma!
