Gov. Mike Beebe told reporters yesterday that indeed more inspectors were needed at the Department of Environmental Quality to keep up with Fayetteville shale gas exploration. But he has no plans to address it until the 2009 legislative session. Which means no money for new employees until July 2009. In the meanwhile .... if you can't trust gas drillers to protect the environment, who can you trust?

Comments

It's almost like it's purposeful...like Beebe et al prefer soft, caressing hands toward the gas guys...like they care more about money/power than our environment or fulfilling the moral/legal obligations of their offices.

Unacceptable and just plain negligent.. Indeed, Zelda, it's clearly intentional. This will be addressed eventually and how much more will it cost in health and money because we wait and let the polluters fill their coffers now?
