Winter wonderland
With a high of 82 forecast today, it's a little hard to conjure up, but the Hot Springs Convention and Visitors Bureau will erect an ice skating rink again this year on Hill Wheatley Plaza. It will be open to skaters daily from Nov. 23-Jan. 6, except Christmas. The cost is $8 an hour, including skates I guess the River Market rink remains a thing of the past in LR.

Not that I'll ever strap another pair of ice skates on, but I have to ask....will this be a real ice skating rink with real ice or one of those chemical jell things?

The ice is so real that on warm days they cancel skating for lack of ice.

Global warming.
God I hate idiots who think global warming is debatable.

All I know is that those skaters better not try to step outside the rink in their blades---they'll be risking a beat-down from the po-po.

Ah, winter. That elusive yet wonderful occurance that can bring us cold temperatures, ice storms, and every once in a while a dusting of thin powdery snow upon our forlorn foothills. That chance encounter with windy isolation that ushers us into warm dens and aids us in our abuse of hot cocoa and cider. What a splendid joy. Ever can we hope for such icy nights in abundant companionship, nights to share stories of times of wonder, sharing sips of beverages both proper and not... before disappearing deep within our abodes to contemplate the return of spring from our nests beneath down comforters and fleece throws, wishing for a thaw.
