Boozman the torturer

The House passed the bill to stop the CIA from using waterboarding and other inhumane questioning techniques. (As if Congress can tell the CIA what to do.) Even Mike Ross and Marion Berry voted for the bill, along with Vic Snyder. Rep. John Boozman went with most every one of his Republican colleagues to support the torturers.

Comments

It amazes me that anyone would think this technique is anything but torture...

I'll be curious to see what the Bush administration has to say about it. Dana Perino has been waffling all over the place lately...

Of course, she admitted that she didn't know what the Cuban Missle Crisis was...

Republicans love torture. Democrats don't. Simple.

I can use the same vote to argue that Boozman voted to prevent millions in earmarked pork-barrel spending which could go have gone to bolster human intelligence capabilities instead - something that Mike Ross flip-flopped on this afternoon.

I can also use the same vote to argue that Boozman voted to have the intelligence apparatus not waste its time in studying global warming (yes, that is in there too).

Funny how Max failed to point any of that out.

Well, thank God & the Huckster that we have Red around here to keep us all straight & honest.

Wait, Arkansas Red, lemme get this straight: are you one of those flat-earthers who don't believe global warming is reality?

Well, Red....I can go you one better. I can use Boozman's Pro Torture vote to prove that Dinah Shore did indeed have sex with Burt Reynolds back in the 70s. I can use Boozman's Pro Torture vote as the reason Dr. Robert Jarvik invented the Jarvik-7 artificial heart that was implanted in old Barney Clark on December 2, 1982. Bozzman's Pro Torture vote also helped Dr. Robert Ballard find the wreck of the Titanic in 1985.

I personally blame Boozman's Bush Ass Sucking Pro Torture vote to explain my wife's low sex drive.....but does it make it true? Let's call a Republican spade a spade. Boozman voted for TORTURE because his masters in the White House told him to do so. Boozman is hard-wired to Bush's brain and will gladly vote for the killing of our 1st born children if the neo-cons in DC pull Boozman's loosey-goosey chain.

Arkansas's dancing TORTURE twins, Boozman and Mark Pryor are the reason I tell people I'm from eastern Oklahoma. Yes...that's right...I'd rather be known to live in wild and tumble eastern Oklahoma, filled with the lawless progenitors whose ancestors ran afoul of Judge Parker's court, than admit I live in a PRO TORTURE state as one would think by looking at Boozman & Pryor votes.

All I can do is wish Mark Pryor a very bad 2008 and extend my bad wishes to Boozman until he's bounced out of office in 2010. I might agree to change my position and vote for both Boozman and Pryor if they will volunteer to be publicly waterboarded in order to show us it ain't no big deal. I'd be happy to travel to Little Rock to witness such a demonstration. Just let me know.

Arikansas Red must have a real "in" somewhere.

"Most of the bill itself also is classified, .."
Washington Post

I saw none of the things Red listed in the WPO article, which is what Max was reporting on.
Maybe Red will share his national security inside line with Max. That way we can keep it
fair and balanced.

DBI,
What makes you think your wife has a low sex drive?
I think she's...uh...OK. Sure. You're right. I never even MET her.
How the hell would I know?

And, DBI, maybe a little waterboarding of the Chimp in Command would be a good idea, too, if he in fact vetoes the bill.
Which he will. So that he can show he's relevant.

I am not sure what to make of this bill yet. Specifically the torture part. it's my understanding torture is already illegal in our own war crimes laws for one example and the CIA was never exempt from such laws. What I fear is this may be some sort of way of trying to immunize (for lack of a better word) the past few years much like last years military commissions bill.

Will wait to see what the Glenn Greenwalds and Emptywheels, among others, have to say once they review the details of the bill.

But all Blue dogs have been up to not much more good than Boozeman, on this issue for at least 7 years.. i don't trust this on its face, yet.

It time to enforce existing law and prosecute the tortures we have not pretend we are actually stopping a runaway executive and spy apparatus.

I now know we got a little clue into the inner workings of the Cheney-Bush administration when in the email dump the phrase "gum it to death" came out. Unless it's a tax cut for the very wealthy, all other business of this rogue administration is about gumming things to death.

Remember we have laws against torture. America doesn't torture, they tell us that all the time. Yet, all the facts and testimony says America sure as hell tortures and is torturing someone while I type. But we don't torture, Bush has said we don't torture. But we're torturing. Can you think of a bigger, more evil example of gumming something to death?

Cheney-Bush will gum things to death until January 20, 2009 when they hop in the long black limos and drive off to a fantastic life of riches untold.

Just look where we are...did we get to the bottom of how we were lied into a war in Iraq? Hell no!
Did anyone get punished for outing CIA agent Valarie Plame? Hell no!
How about the firing of the US Attorneys? Hell no!
Halliburton corruption....Blackwater murders? Hell no!
Haditha? Hell no!
Jeff Gannon/Guckert? Hell no!
Vitter & Craig? Hell no!
Torture? We don't Torture....ask Pryor and Boozman about that!

As our troops die, as our treasury dwindles, as respect for America evaporates, as our jobs fly away, as our country is hated more and more by more people...the gumming to death of America continues unchecked.

The Democrats have yet to draw the first drop of blood from Cheney-Bush, who cruise on thru the night spreading their evil. Is Obama black enough? What do you think about Hillary's cleavage? Is Mormon Mitt a Christian? Does pretty hair doom Edwards? We are so screwed!

The Sheep Farmer asks me to post his comment:

Perhaps we need a resolution to send a note of apology to the families of the Japanese we executed after WWII for war crimes, including waterboarding. Either it is a war crime or it isn't. If it isn't, than Bush owes an apology to the families as head of state. You can't have it both ways (or at least most of us can't).

Sheep Farmer,

It is a war crime on our own books as well as Internationally in the Geneva Conventions treaty, which are attached to our Constitution as sure as the amendments.

The USA owes the world an apology and should both impeach and prosecute the perps.. starting with Bush and Cheny, add the next 100 or so in line..only then should we start something like a truth and reconciliation process. These people broke so many laws and the countries sacred trust and they did it with intent and reckless abandon..

The more i think about this bill the more I suspect it is nothing but kabuki.. It's time to stop a wrong needless war/occupation in both Afghanistan and Iraq, stop any and all torture, apologize and prosecute.. anything else promotion of it in complicity at best. Republicans torture while gritting their teeth.. half the Dems do it with a smile.

Also note that baseball went to shit on Bush's watch. A new Buick to the first person who can name anything good that has come out of this criminal administration in the last 7 years.

A new Buick to the first person who can name anything good that has come out of this criminal administration in the last 7 years.<<

The news that Republicans are corrupt to the core. They're dopeheads, queers and crooks. Bush is running 30 approval and Darth Cheney at 19% tells us a few, oh hell, several millions have wised up.

Keep the Buick.
.

From Huffpo at my name

The 222-199 vote sent the measure to the Senate, which still must act before it can go to President Bush. The White House has threatened a veto.

The administration particularly opposes restricting the CIA to interrogation methods approved by the military in 2006. That document prohibits forcing detainees to be naked, perform sexual acts, or pose in a sexual manner; placing hoods or sacks over detainees' heads or duct tape over their eyes; beating, shocking, or burning detainees; threatening them with military dogs; exposing them to extreme heat or cold; conducting mock executions; depriving them of food, water, or medical care; and waterboarding.

Good God in Heaven, how did it ever come to this?

Good God in Heaven, how did it ever come to this?

This is what happens when those who love the Lawd are not watched closely 24-7.

JD, the earth is certainly round. But global warming is the greatest hoax of all time! You've got to be mighty arrogant to think that you can do anything to make a difference on the earth's behalf. Al Gore should be tried for treason for smack-talking his own country and then placed in a looney bin for the remainder of his days.

It's been so damn cold out here in California this year, that nearly every single day this fall has brought record low temperatures. And during the summer, we never once came close to a record high. When I was a kid, the weather was a hell of a lot hotter than it is now.

Every time I hear someone say something about global warming, I laugh out loud hysterically. It's the most ridiculous agenda the world has ever seen. But as long as you've got enough money to buy an endless supply of "carbon credits", like Al Gore, you can pollute the atmosphere as much as your little heart desires and get a good night's sleep.

What a bunch of BS!

So, RebelJ, you have shown us now that you don't know the difference between weather and climate. It's as though you think that every place is the same as where you are. You need to study up more on the subject.

Oh, and I notice you changed the subject from torture.

From the beginning I have argued against it against all and sundry. It's the hallmark of sadists and people that want to terrorize the citizens, not people that want to get information.

Uh.....rablib: I have a Master's in meteorology and oceanography.
