Financing source for Anti-Huckabee Travelers revealed!

In this week's paper we reported that a group of Arkansas Republicans campaigning against Mike Huckabee in Iowa was getting outside support, but that the anti-Hucksters couldn't reveal their beneficiary. Former state Rep. Randy Minton now says that the moneybags funding the trip is...Ron Paul.  I don't know that it's going to get Paul much above the four points he's polling in Iowa, but guess he needs some way to burn the millions he's collected.

Minton brought onetime candidate for lieutenant governor Jim Holt along with him. They've been hitting up the talk radio circuit, including a show hosted by Jan Mickelson. Minton also reported that the anti-Huckabee crew was lighter than expected: He said a second group of former Arkansas legislators -- this one unaffiliated with Paul -- scrapped plans to go to Iowa to badmouth the Huck.

UPDATE: Credit the Paultards who discredited our first account on this for eating their words. They should have trusted us in the first place.

Knowing that Jim Holt is againist you must mean that you can't be that bad of a guy. Besides, Jim Holt and Ron Paul have condos next to each other at the compound in waco.

So does this Randy Minton fellow have any receipts from this "so called money from the Paul campaign?' I highly think he knows what he is talking about. Ron Paul and his campaign is not about to stoop to there level and start next ad attacks and fund some no name guy to spread the message..... Come on Max, get the facts straight before you start saying these things.....

"...anti-Huckabee crew was lighter than expected:"

So, it's just the lunatic Minton and that insane Holt? What a duo, Jim Carrey and Jeff Daniels need to hurry up with their sequel, this pair would definitely out-dumb 'em.

Sounds to me Randy Minton is just wanting to attack the Paul campaign by accusing them of things they do not do...... Come on Max give some sources or some hard facts. Not some, he told me that his brother said his cousin is doing this.........

Obviously JAHOGS doesn't know what 'sourcing' means, else he wouldn't keep demanding it when it's provided right there in the second sentence of the opening paragraph. "Former state Rep. Randy Minton now says ..." that's the source JAHOGS.

Now, whether you believe Minton (and you'd be wise if you didn't) is an entirely different matter. Or if you want multiple sources, you'd better put down blogs and return to reputable newspapers - oh wait, there are no more of those, only blogs in print.

So it goes.

So now our credible sources are by one person, that everyone knows is not credible? If it would be wise not to believe Minton then why post a blog saying "Former state Rep. Randy Minton now says...."? Your right there are no longer any reputable newspapers and before too long with blogs like this one, reporting what Randy Minton is now saying, there want be too many reputable blogs left.

More and more I keep seeing news articles on the web with completely baseless accusations of wrong doing by Ron Paul's campaign and the man himself. i.e.:

"Former state Rep. Randy Minton now says that the moneybags behind the effort is...Ron Paul. "

You must be kidding... This is a fact? Who is Randy Minton? When and where does he say this? What prompted him to state this? And right after you "establish" this "fact" you analyze it...

People are not that gullible Mr Williams, so if you have nothing factual to report then stay away from the keyboard.

Has everybody forgotten what a blog is? It's a source of unconfirmed rumors and opinions about those rumors. Minton himself says Paul funded the dumb & dumber expedition. I doubt Paul did, he doesn't seem that detestable. But, Minton said it, that's what the blog is relaying to us.

I'd bet that a real reporter for a real news outlet will be working to pin down the facts (not the truthiness) of this blog item. In the meantime, the fun is to be had at the expense of Minton & Holt. Paul doesn't need defending - yet.

I do agree with you then.... But how about another blog once this is proving in correct? Don't think that will happen. Randy Minton is a Fred Thompson supporter according to this article: http://www.arkansasleader.com/2007/12/top-story-lawmakers-are-split-on.html But he is out stomping for Ron Paul, with Ron Paul's money. LOL..... I guess Mr. Williams will fall in the Randy Minton and Jim Holt category, before too long, with more BLOGS like this one....

Posing as Paul supporters...
The real likely suspects? Minions or Giuliani, Romney, Fred Dawg or Tancredo.

Why? Because Huckabee is a "poll threat" to them. They all have illusion campaigns. Lot's of media - skewed poll numbers - no grassroots. Truly smoke and mirrors.

Ron Paul has the only campaign on either side where tens of thousands of, highly educated, passionate, volunteers are driving it.

Obama gets the "rice Christians"... you know like when the missionaries go to Africa and they hand out rice to starving people. But first they get to hear the good news. They just come for the rice. In Obama's case they come for the "O".

Exactly, JA. Before we got sidetracked by the truthiness of blogs, I was gonna say that the political philosophies of Minton & Holt more closely track the Tancredo / Hunter wing of the party. But, Thompson could certainly be in there.

I like Paul, could actually see myself voting for him, and don't believe he's behind this. But, Minton is too stupid by half to pull off some kind of political misdirection blame shifting. We'll soon find out who's paying for all those Motel 6 bills.

Good to hear that you maybe vote for Ron Paul. That is always good to hear. He will be all over the news after December 14th. Tomorrow his supporters have raised enough money to fund a blimp with his name on it to fly along the East coast for a month..... I never thought it would happen but it is suppose to start tomorrow.... Also on December the 16th they are going to have another one of those fund raising days like they did back on November the 5th. That day they raised almost $4 million and Sunday they expect to raise $7 million +...... Can't wait also to see who is paying for all of those Motel 6 bills either, If I was a guessing man it would be Thompson or maybe he is just full of hot air like that Ron Paul blimp....

It's very simple.

From the original article referenced above:
"Randy Minton, a former state legislator and chairman of the conservative Eagle Forum"...

The Eagle Forum is already on record of being anti-Huckabee; see http://opinionjournal.com/diary/?id=110010782

Connect the dots. The most likely suspects in this financing issue is the Eagle Forum, not Dr. Paul. Lots of reasons why:

1. Dr. Paul doesn't play like that.
2. The Eagle Forum does.
3. Minton is part of the Eagle Forum.
4. The Eagle Forum hates the Hickster.
5. The Eagle Forum doesn't care for Dr. Paul either.
6. What better way to smear two-for-one by blaming the smear of one on the other?
7. No independent verification of the claim outside of Minton.
8. If Dr. Paul's campaign is funding this, as unlikely as it is, it'll show up on the Paul FEC expense reports.

So let's see some proof that the Paul campaign is funding this. The circumstantial evidence leads to the Eagle Forum instead.

>>Tomorrow his supporters have raised enough money to fund a blimp with his name on it to fly along the East coast for a month.<<

That will do it! A blimp gets you into the Wh House every time.

And I'm loving this Rwingnut meltdown on here. Pretty soon we can spread it on the RWing bs.

Well the story has already spread far and wide. (at my name)

I agree with eLwood.. watching the pearl clutchers in this thread has been more entertaining than the story itself.

Well, I guess it is true. I am here to apologize for saying it was not true....

Did someone on here say to get in the White House you have to buy a blimp? I don't think so... It is a fund raising grassroots effort to capture media attention towards Ron Paul. Since they want talk about him and when they do they say he is a kook, we will make sure they can't ignore the first blimp for a Presidential candidate.... He has no supporters is what a lot of the media also says about him, but some how he raised $4 million in one day and raised $350K in one week to get the blimp off the ground...

per mikehuckabee.com, MH has raised over 1 million dollars in 14 days (well in sight of his goal of $1.15M by 15 Dec)

and equal to what Ron Paul raised in 6 hours last month. so i guess RP can afford to ferry a few arkies through the ice and snow for a few days worth of 'fact-checking' with a personal touch.

meanwhile WMUR poll in NH, has Huckabee in fourth place with 9%, Ron Paul in fifth with 7%
perhaps the folks in New Hampshire think that "Live Free or Die" applies as much to organized religion as it does to the government?

Well, the Paul campaign has confirmed this as true. So pass the salt, I need to eat some crow for my post above. :(

What I can't figure out, though, is *why* the Iowa office is doing this. It makes no sense to go negative and attack Huckabee at all, since all Huckabee has to do is just show up to have problems. This may be a colossal blunder by the Paul campaign. Dr. Paul doesn't need to go negative, yet his local staffers did this and the main HQ is paying for it, according to the AP.

This makes no sense at all, but as they say, truth is stranger than fiction.
