Huck's 'tax lunacy'
30 PERCENT SALES TAX: A Brit gets it. Will Iowans?
OPPO RESEARCH: And now comes inspection of his financial disclosure statment, (link fixed) which we've linked previously. As we've noted several times before, Huck took $35,000 from a drug maker that engages in stem cell research. Not that there's anything wrong with that -- to a pro-choice Democrat. A Bible-thumping, home-schooling Iowa Republican might see it differently.

I think Max is a little upset that Huckabee is a presidential candidate while ol' Max is writing for a rinky dink paper..haha....I would bet money max is a democrat. I think Huckabee is a great guy who the media and even the main stream republicans are trying to paint as something otherwise...Anyone remember the tax me more fund? huck never liked raising taxes..he did so out of need. arkansas needed money to fix it's roads and schools...ol' max probaly thinks hillary is a friend of his..not his pawn.

Although those seeking to derail Mike Huckabee's campaign to change America are attempting to create a controversy, it is easy to see why Mike Huckabee was a speaker for a drug maker who says on their website they are "changing the way we care for diabetes" it is obvious that as someone who was able to defeat diabetes through exercise and diet that Mike Huckabee is a role model for those who are fighting this terrible disease that afflicts so many average Americans. It is something they relate to because they or someone in their family fight it.
Although those from the right and left of the beltway continue to try to find ways to slow down Mike Huckabee, his supporters continue to see through these desparate attempts. They know that Mike Huckabee has fine values and morals and will be the type of leader we need for the next century.
Cannons to the Right.
Cannons to the Left.

well lb i thought we had lost you. as a diabetes sufferer i know what you are talking about. the problem is the morals of huckabee. you never answered the question. if he will lie about 1 thing he will lie about many things. how is that explained? a moral person does not lie.

Actually I think the rate is much too high, but the concept isn't that wild.
My neighbor is a teacher. I suspect she makes about $45K a year. If she spends every penny of that she would pay about 15K in taxes. My neighbor on the other sides makes lots more, and he has rent houses, and tax free bonds, and all sorts of tax dodges....but he drives 2 Lexi, travels a bunch, eats out 5 nights a week has a great time, will leave a beautiful young corpse.
Seems like getting rid of his tax dodges, moving him away from his "off the books style" and getting 30% every time he drops $200 at the sushi bar is going to be a plus.
They may both pay 30% but since he spends a ton more, he is going to pay a bunch more.
If you couple that with a tax exclusion (rebate) for the first 25K or so, he is going to pay far more than he pays now and she is going to pay about the same.

Why not make it simple and make a list of who Huckabee HASN'T taken money from? I figure we'll find out he's got some of that Halter porn money in his pocket too. I think he lost that 100 lbs racing around taking money from people he shouldn't in dark alleys on his way to another sucker church for his weekly Love Offering.
Huckabee has 11 or 12 morals which have to do with your private parts and making sure you tithe and neat stuff like that, but as a world class sinner for many years now, I can see that even I have more morals than Mike Huckabee. Can you imagine?
As your President I might seek out and accept a blowjob in my office when no one is looking. I would read every morning briefing about Osama determined to attack within the US while puffing on the first of many Marlboro Lights. Assuming my diabetes wasn't acting up, I'd have a few drinks now and then to loosen up and forget my troubles. I'd cuss when I felt like it and I'd continue to never go to church except to marry or bury someone I knew.
I'd probably not invite Larry Flynt to my office, but I'd also never sit around and listen to some old preacher drone on and on about make up crap. I'd be nice to the common people, especially children and the elderly and I'd work as hard as I could to make America a better place. A better place for you and me, not General Motors or Exxon or Big Oil or Halliburton or Wal-Mart.....they're in business...they're on their own...sink or swim white boys!
Even in DC I could live like a King on 200 grand a year. Unlike Mike Huckabee, I'm not greedy, I got nor want a secret slush fund. I'll also make morals something everyone decides for themselves. Being an honest and decent President is all this country needs. You all deal with your privates as you please and your unwanted pregnancies are your business...not mine, not Congress, not the chasv's & LB's of the world.
The best way to protect America is by making friends, not enemies. By talking your head off, not by clamming up. By being an equal, not a superior. I'd end the war in Iraq. I'd disband the CIA as we know it. I'd make lobbying against the law as I would make religion in pubic schools against the law. I'd start a 5th TV network that was all government and all campaigning all the time. I'd make people running for office use that TV network in equal amounts to get their message out and I'd make private donations to candidates illegal. That would make a level playing field for everyone running for dog-catcher on up. As long as people can sneak around and slip money in Huckabee's pocket....people like Huckabee will do their bidding.....not ours.
Huckabee is Oral Roberts - the healing, + politics....nothing more. He's the Benny Hinn of Presidential candidates. He'll be a HuckaWho by spring.
PS I would entertain a national sales tax if it will do away with the Sword of Damocles that hangs over our heads every April 15th.

Oh, hell. Let's just get down with the truth. Ever since Bill Clinton promised to do away with discriminating against gays in the military, and Bob Dole launched his hateful opposition to Clinton's promise (we're the only original NATO country with the silly / ugly "don't ask, don't tell" military policy), elections have come down to two points.
Punish gays and lesbians for "being" gays and lesbians in any way we can. Dictate women's reproductive decisions. Both, naturally, according to a literal reading of a phony 2,000 year old manuscript compiled in 315 A.D. from myths and folklore and enforced at the point of a sword through still-continuing Crusades.
Forget anything else. Forget rational economic policies, international relations or global resources. Forget science, reason, facts. "God" says gays and women are to be subjugated.
Forget adult politics. It's all about punishing gay and lesbian people and controlling women's wombs. Denying realities, in other words, in the name of "religion."
That's all that matters. The inmates are taking over the asylum.
God, apparently, is an ignorant, hateful bigot. Let's vote for God.

How many of you wingnuts could come up with the extra FORTY SIX THOUSAND dollars needed for a 3 bedroom, 2 ba, double garage home?
You can tell a whopper on here but the problem right now with the housing-mortgage market is that Americans have little or no savings. Tacking on another 23-30% to buy a home will kill that market.
But all this is Huckbullshit. Huck only "supports" the fair tax. He will not and cannot enact it. It's more of the sizzle and a whole lot less steak. Where's the beef?
He's running on the energy of the religio-wacknuts he picked up Sept 17.
By Feb 1st when the credit card bills from one more worship of the Wise Men of Madison Ave hits the great unthinking junk buyers just say goodbye to "who loves jesus the most" profile.
Several thousand more people will be booted out of their homes over Christmas season and fixing the tax structure won't fix that.

A few points that are not addressed in the flatters' promises:
Are services to be taxed - lawyers, hair-dressers, plumbers? Has anybody really defined what purchases exactly will be taxed? Can you imagine the onslaught of lobbyists trying to carve out their own particular exemptions?
Are dividends, interest on deposits, and other types of financial income to be taxed? If not, I can seen the gap between the rich and everyone else widening precipitously.
If the taxes to be collected at the point of purchase, who is going to make sure they are submitted to the government if IRS is no longer? There will be a need for an army of auditors to review every business record from a "Fortune 500" company to a mobile taco stand, ... and every E-Bay account.
The wealthy can more easily make large purchases overseas. Will those countries be required to collect and remit the tax?
After our decades-long battle with a black-market of untaxed cigarettes, can you just imagine the emergence of tax-free black markets of all sorts of commodities? An easy scam would be to set up a non-profit organization where "donations" elicited untaxed goods. Speaking of non-profits ... would they (and churches) be exempt from having to pay the tax on purchases? If so, as I said above, there will be an avalanche of groups vying for exemptions.
Within a short time, the "flat tax" code will be as complex as IRS and employ as many, if not more investigators, accountants, clerks ...........

"However, what Article VI does not do, and was never intended to do, is deny me the right to say, as loudly as I may choose, that I will on no account vote for a smirking hick like Republican presidential candidate Mike Huckabee, who is an unusually stupid primate but who does not have the elementary intelligence to recognize the fact that this is what he is. My right to say and believe that is already guaranteed to me by the First Amendment."

What does Tom Hanks have to do with Huck's bucks? When I click on financial statement in the blog blurb, I get an uncaptioned photo of Hanks and Julia Roberts. The reference is a bit obtuse, if you are linking Huck's "dollar addiction" to the role Julia once played.
That gives me an idea. Print up a bunch of stickers displaying a red light bulb and the caption "Huck's Bucks" or "Buck Huck District" and slap them on the front of his campaign offices and campaign signs.

hcukabee a liberal? i am all for gender/racial equality..when blacks actually create a nation as good as the caucasians without any support from anyone..then they'll be equal..yet in the history of mankind that has never happened..as for women..i love them..i want them to be equal..yet it's just not going to happen...men and women are different..
and as for huck leaning left...i disagree..he's just honest..i think he'll be the next president and repubs/dems are doing everything they can to keep an honest man of the people out of the oval office.....

And when I read sexist/racist crap like that, I thank my Goddess for making me 'different' from the likes of Huck and his mindless clones. Normally I'd ask dirty if he really meant what he said, but given that my mind/memory are still chugging along (despite all that estrogen), I know that Huck and his religious Neanderthal buds actually believe they're at the top of the human pack...actually believe that some dude just like them said 'Hey you're like me so you're in charge of everyone not like me.' (Never mind that men were the authors of their own ascendancy.) Ironically and deliciously it's their own words that reveal them to be at the bottom of the brain pool, rather than at the top.
Furthermore, dirty's flat wrong that in history women have always been secondary to patriarchy. There are many historical examples of women being equal and/or in charge...of course that was before the Jewish/Christian menfolk decided life would be easier if their god put their women in line for them. (I guess if you can swallow that the world is 5,000 years old and that Huck is an honest man...you can swallow just about anything.)

i never said women are second..just that men and women are different. as for racist..facts are facts. give me a black prosperous country..? there are none..nor have there ever been. and if you think people are equal..perhaps you need to look at little rock...umm..last time i checked it's a shit hole overcome with violent crimes perpetrated by blacks..and if you think whites are equally violent perhaps u should go look at the number of people in the adc who committed violent crimes...most are black..that's not eqaulity..i say all are CREATED equal..though not in deeds or accomplishment.and my views on race and women are different than hucks, he'd be unable to be as honest as i am ...

dirtywirt doesn't surprise me a bit. The news that it took until the late 70s for the Mormon church to reverse policy and admit blacks reminded me of something that never makes it into civil rights documentaries. We always hear about sitting in the back of the bus and White Only water fountains, but I remember never seeing a black person in a Baptist church until the late 70s. A buck naked stripper wouldn't have caused the ruckus on Sunday morning like a well dressed black man would have in my all white church.
So no surprise, at least not in Arkansas, that a God loving Republican Bible-beater would have a racist streak a mile wide. And to this day thanks to the Bible, Christian women must be stuck in 2nd place "according to a literal reading of a phony 2,000 year old manuscript compiled in 315 A.D. from myths and folklore and enforced at the point of a sword through still-continuing Crusades", as Norma typed so well.... zelda....according to Huckabee, Number 2 be thy name.
Look around......ain't no country on the planet in more need of a big change than America. The wisdom and guidance of Christian white men for 231 year has failed us, we're sinking in a sea of corruption from top to bottom. Our best bet would be to elect a bunch of Canadians! So be of good cheer, vote like your wielding a razor. It's time again to "bring forth upon this continent a new nation"....

If you support Huck and his brethren's declaration that women are s'pose to be submissive to their menfolk...that women are second to men, and you write this crap: 'i want them to be equal..yet it's just not going to happen,' you're no friend of women. So until you can reconcile your 'lovely' words about females with your not-so-lovely beliefs, save your breath trying to convince us (real women lovers) you're anything but a sexist pig.

it never ceases to amaze me that folks like dirtywirt are always quick to assign credit for achievements like building our nation to white men without regard to the many contributions of women and people of other races that built this nation. but, small minds think small thoughts. to all the women who stood side by side with their husbands, brothers and sons to fight overwhelming odds in order to build a new nation and to all the immigrants regardless of gender and ethnicity that slaved to build the country we enjoy today i say thanks. without your contributions and tolerance of losers like dirtywirt he would have nothing to brag about.

OK..........I'm starting to get scared. The longer this Presidential campaign goes on the less I like any candidate. Time limits need to be set on campaigns.
I'm also scared by the viewpoints contributed to this blog lately. It's hard to believe that in 2007 people can be so uneducated, uninformed, unkind and totally ignorant toward females and those of other races than their own.
Is it the Preachers that are delivering these bigoted messages?
I hope in 2008 I wake up from this nightmare.

fly on the wall you have a great point. i think it is britain that limits campaigning to 2 months with total government financing. that sounds like a dream to me. no listening to all these clowns for 2 years and ads that attack each other for forever. there should also be a rule that says there could only be could be ads that talk about yourself, nothing against your opponet. that would make the tone of the elections a lot different. could you imagine clean elections?
