I caught "Messiah" at Second Presbyterian last night. The house was packed to the rafters, so I had to stand in the rear for the whole thing. Well worth the cramps in my calves this morning.
Keith Urban looks the part of todays forgettable performers...cheap dirty shirt, jeans with holes cut into them, long dirty hair etc. If you want to see a REAL star there is one coming back to Altell in March. Michael Buble' will bring class, talent and excitment along with a nice suit of clothes and a full orchestra...be there. You will see a young Sinatra playing to a REAL crowd.

From someone who actually went to the show, wow. I'm not a huge Keith Urban fan but the guy puts on a really fun show. Some great banjo and guitar. He was great with the crowd too. He brought up these two little girls on stage who had made a sign for him and were holding it up in the crowd. He asked them their names and where they from. They said they were from Tupelo AR, which was funny to me because it's a small town, population no more than 200, and I have family there. Small world.
Max, based on the above comments, Mr. Urban is way too low brow for the cultured Times audience. In other words, those who went were probably a bunch of GOP voting bible thumpers who drive SUVs, send their kids to private school, and think Vegas and cruise ships are ultimate vacation destinations.
On a somewhat interesting side note, Mr. Urban has an Arkansas connection. The award winning director of his music videos is from Forest City.

Correct you are, Barrett, all three times! And the sainted one and I will be there. I'm also with Cato and jazzy. How I miss the music of days gone by: Buddy Holly, Tommy Edwards, Sam Cooke, Sarah Vaughn, Elvis, The Beetles, Nat King Cole, Mel Carter, The Drifters, Ivory Joe Hunter, and Lenny Welch.
And Frankie Avalon, Julie London, The Beach Boys, Bobby Vee, Gene Pitney, Bobby Vinton, Gene McDaniels, Dinah Washington, Della Reese, Ben E. King, Roy Hamilton, Jerry Butler, Peggy Lee, The Four Preps, The Platters, Jackie DeShannon, The McGuire Sisters, Bobby Darrin, Paul Anka, Fats Domino, Johnny Mathis, Dee Clark, and so many others.
My oh-so-sophisticated 30-something kids and kids-in-law roll their eyes when they hear some of these magnificent artists, exhibiting absolutely no appreciation for good music. But the upside of it is that when we want them out of here so we can have the grandkids to ourselves, all I have to do is crank up my sound system. Works every time.
any thread where the general consensus is that Michael Buble is something special is beyond dissing. it is the greatest collection of thought ever recorded!

Isn't he the guy who gets to see Nicole Kidman naked and the experience is so awesome that he has to go to rehab now and then?
