Both sides now
There he goes again. Mike Huckabee has professed solidarity with striking TV writers. But he'll cross their picket line -- trample them with jackboots if need be -- to get in front of TV cameras filming the Jay Leno show tonight. Comments the NY Times:
Although crossing picket lines might not be unusual for most Republican candidates, Mr. Huckabee has waged an unusual populist campaign on economic issues, stressing his empathy with the anxieties of working people. On Wednesday, he said he identified with the striking television workers as an author himself and believed they deserved a share of the proceeds from the sale of their work.
Mr. Huckabee’s inconsistency about the picket lines outside the Leno show are the latest in a string of missteps that have underscored the ad-hoc, on-the-fly nature of his insurgent campaign.
MORE MEDIA: Huckabee also got bigtime exposure today on the Rush Limbaugh show. Too bad for him, it wasn't good.
STILL MORE MEDIA MADNESS: Here a broadcasting industry writer scratches his head at Huckabee's damaging disdain for Rush Limbaugh at the same time he's cozying up to the far less influential Joe Scarborough.

no one will care. So he breaks the "writer's strike" picket line. Not exactly a burning cause in the minds of most. So a couple of over-paid writers for Lost or Americas Next Runway Model get hacked off at him. I'm sure he will be sweating that out.
Huckabee is the new Teflon Don. Nothing sticks to him. And what pundits and media types think are issues or see as inconsistencies are usually so far removed from the concerns of most Americans that they have little if any bearing on politics in the real world.

I read an article in the Huffington Post where it seems that virtually every candidate in Iowa except for our own Bro Gov is getting slimed by one push poll or another--wonder if Ed Rollins is going behind Bro Gov's back and engaging in negativity anyway? We all know that the self righteous Bro Gov wouldn't stand for such...don't we?

The New York Times bears a huge amount of the blame for enabling Huck in his "ad-hoc, on-the-fly insurgent campaign" by being among the corporate media that helped create the mess they now find so noxious.

Sure the media are culpable for allowing Huck to tread along unscrutinized; but I blame the Republican Party for Huck's creation. Rove et al have stroked the religious nut gang for years. And now the 'nut gang' has grown way too big for the Republican attic and are demanding their promised place at the front table. That's one reason it's so much fun to watch all the so-called country-club Republicans choking on their own prodigy. It'd be more fun if the last seven years hadn't convinced me that the stupidest, most undeserving person in the country is perfectly capable of stealing the presidency...again.

For a man of the cloth, Rev. Huckabee seems to have at times only a passing acquaintance with truth-telling.
For Faith in America's take on Rev. Huckabee's claim that he supports equality for all Americans and does not wish to impose his religious beliefs on the nation, while he stigmatizes gay Americans as "sinful aberrations," see http://faithinamerica.info/blog/religion-based-bigotry-negates-huckabees-sense-of-equality.
Which is it, Rev. Huckabee? Equality or discrimination?
And what is the gospel about, love or hate?
Which side does Jesus stand on, I wonder?
