Friar Huck: There he goes again.

Talking Points Memo reports that Mike Huckabee, in trying to explain his views on how the Constitution should be guided by (his) God's words, he managed to equate homosexuality with beastiality. TPM is right: Not enough people are talking about Bro. Huck.

This is based on a serious interview here with Beliefnet.

Friar Huckabilly may really be plugging for a V-P/win-the-South position with this one as he boldly plays the OUTSIDER, a winning position for a wanna-be :

Huckabee: Outsiders not welcome in Confederate flag decisions
Posted: 02:11 PM ET

MYRTLE BEACH, South Carolina (CNN) - Former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee told South Carolina voters Thursday that the government had no business making decisions over the Confederate flag.

"You don't like people from outside the state coming in and telling you what to do with your flag," Huckabee said at a Myrtle Beach campaign event. "In fact, if somebody came to Arkansas and told us what to do with our flag, we'd tell them what to do with the pole, that's what we'd do."

Later, in Florence, he repeated the remarks. "I know what would happen if somebody comes to my state in Arkansas and tells us what to do, it doesn't matter what it is, tell us how to run our schools, tell us how to raise our kids, tell us what to do with our flag - you want to come tell us what to do with the flag, we'd tell them what to do with the pole."

The Confederate flag has long been the third rail of South Carolina presidential politics - offensive to some, a symbol of Southern heritage to others. The flag is currently displayed on state capitol grounds.

Huckabee is currently barnstorming South Carolina with former Gov. David Beasley, who has called for the flag's removal.

>>my point is, the Constitution was created as a document that could be changed. That's the genius of it. The Bible, however, was not created to be amended and altered with each passing culture.<<

Of course for a man with a 'theology degree' to make such a statement is a bold-faced lie. The bible has been rewritten a few times. Today we have 3 major versions of the Ten Commandments. How many versions of the U.S. Constitution exist today? ONE.
How many versions of the Christian bible exist today? At least FIVE.

Huckabee's 'Constitution/God's Standard' remarks were made monday evening in Michigan.

It is possible that i've missed it, but my searching the internet yesterday and today has not shown it to have been a topic of discussion on Firedoglake or on Keith Olberman's 2 shows since, which strikes me as highly curious.

perhaps the MSM feels it unworthy of coverage, having decided that Huckabee is no longer, or will soon no longer be a factor in the race. but, imo, that is a major disservice to the electorate.

thus, i am ever more glad that the internet and forums like AT Blog exist, where people can combine information, opinion, and ahem.. entertainment, in proper proportions, so that many people can argue, vent, and laugh while learning something useful at the same time.

Looks like El Clinton doesn't like it when he's asked questions about vote suppression.

Very telling. How does he then after the above quote explain falling in line with "no child left behind?"

You know Red I had a neighbor who for years had the cutest spider monkey. It was damn smart too.
Probably not as smart as you. The monkey, Jasper, could hold a book and point to pictures and words
and really grin about them and slap his head. He just didn't understand a damn thing the book was stating. Clinton's interview makes perfect sense to me. No suppression going on, just seeking a level playing field.

It was the playing field his wife's people agreed to in March.

Did anyone happen to check out the God-o-meter on the Beliefnet page? It's worth a look for comic relief. bluename

Hugh, I played an old tape of Armani Ronnie preaching from First Baptist in Chickenopolis to his 17,000 faithful wherein Ronnie urged the faithful to Vote God in '04. After playing that tape the godmeter went so far below ZERO that it's beyond repair. Guess it calls for a new more cynical proof godmeter.

i called my wife and told her that we were going entirely biblical when she got home. she especially was thrilled about the submit part and had a few suggestions for me so maybe we are not going to follow that entire biblical order. perhaps we will not get the mormon version of the bible either and have the many wives to service me, she didn't like that idea either. somebody had better tell huck that there are some problems with his theories. i would like to see him and mitt have this discussion.

Just curious, red, but is there a reason this same post keeps popping up on different topics?

BTW, I like it when Bill he gets justifiably pissed at someone. John Kerry should have gotten pissed, really pissed when those cowardly swiftboat liars insulted all veterans by trashing Kerry's Medals.

Just the mention of Huck and the Constitution in the same sentence makes me shudder.

Yes eLwood...I love how the Bible thumpers act like 'their' particular version of the Bible was handwritten by their God some five thousand years ago (give or take a few years here/there) and not one comma has been changed...sheesh, it's like they're uneducated.

Of course it makes sense to equate homosexuality with bestiality (you spelled it wrong, Max). The misguided psyche of the former is not far removed from that of the latter.

Yep, Confederate, it makes sense to a moron. It's like equating jay-walking with robbery or murder if you want to be realistic. I guess you consider all the times you used the Lord's name in vain the same as the times Wayne Dumond murdered somebody. Give us a break from this BS reasoning based on the idea that all sins are equal or some such nonsense.

It is fallacious reasoning and smacks of philistine prejudice. It's another reason why Huckabee and the Talibaptists are to be feared and kept from power. And, just as one more example of how such connections are illogical just imagine equating Robert E. Lee with the Ku Klux Klan. Both had Confederate connections. Now do you understand why equating homosexuals and bestiality is stupid? That's why such logic is bad, useless, mean, and debasing. It's like saying Jesus and Santa Claus are the same because both are part of Christmas time. You could do hundreds and thousands of such comparisons with this faulty logic and it still appeals to fools no matter what.

The next time some idiot tries such empty reasoning on you Confederate, you just tell them to take their nonsense and get the hell outta your sight. Smite them if they refuse to budge.

What Jake said.

As a Communist, I was inclined to ignore Confederate.

But, Yeah, what Jake said.......and Zelda's second.

Thanks for the dittoes. Confederate can also strap down the idgit galoot making such comparisons. haul out his Junior Extreme Nurse kit, and do a cherry bomb enema. It may not be politically correct but it does help stop this insidious disease from spreading.
