Howl out

It's the Wolves for ASU, if the Chancellor and the Board of Trustees go along with the Mascot Selection Committee's nominee. The committee didn't specify which subspecies of wolf the mascot would take; both black and red were under consideration. It's up to the Board to add on, if it wants to. Sounds like it would be best left alone.

Wisely rejected, in our opinion, were suggestions the A's and the Red Dragons.

I would have gone with the A-State Express myself. It would be unique to Division I and the marketing strategies are endless, not to mention how many audio and visual elements you could add to sporting venues. Oh yeah, then there's the history of the railroad in NE Arkansas.
Red and Black conductor hats would sell like crazy, the sound of a the train coming through could be used; why this doesn't trump a freaking wolf I'll never understand.
They should have just stuck with their spirit character "Red". At least then they would be like so many other institutions both collegiate and professional.
ASU should get ready to start corralling a drunken redneck wolf pack at every event. Wait a minute, NC State has already taken the nickname "wolf pack". Maybe they could go with "Get along Wolf Gang".

They should have taken the Gov's suggestion and changed to logo to a snake charmer sitting outside the Taj Mahal and just stayed with Indians.

Surely the NCAA isn't worried about offending those living on the sub-continent.

Wolves are good.. The rabid fans, pun intended, that congregate and wear silly hats could be called The Blitzers.

Curs.

Prescott has The Curly Wolf.

I like that.

Best is Rosebud Ramblers.

/ named after the song Ramblin' Rose I suppose.

The new A State mascot has some potential. I can envision the band on the field playing and singing "Hey There, Little Red Riding Hood" and incorporating a signature howl.
