Asa!
Now this is what we call cutting edge Republican outreach to younger voters -- mercy for crackheads.
Asa Hutchinson, in the news here yesterday for his new 2010 Committee to enhance Republican campaign efforts in Arkansas, is speaking out forcefully against the current attorney general's opposition to a U.S. Sentencing Commission recommendation to equalize drug sentences for those convicted of crack cocaine and powder cocaine crimes. Crack offenders have tougher sentences as it stands
Not only is Asa down with the crackheads, he's BLOGGING about it. Is this a man ready for 21st century politics or what? (Kidding aside, he's right on the issue, too.) He also landed a Washington Times op-ed on the same subject along with J.C. Watts. (Moonie paper -- not cutting edge.)
Clip and save, McDanielites.

Comments
So, by your exhortation to "McDanielites," you are implying that Dustin McDaniel's supporters are for such a racially-biased sentencing guideline? Moreover, you are implying that Attorney General McDaniel is for harsher penalties for African-Americans since they are more statistically likely to be arrested for crack possession than for possession of powder cocaine?
Moreover, are you implying that Sen. Rodham Clinton is for this, since Gen. McDaniel is her campaign co-chair?
I thought you Democrats were against such racially-insensitive things.
Could it be that you are revolting against black community since they are smacking around your Belle du Jour in the primaries?
I suspect the SPLC will want to speak with you, Maxie.

Asa misses the old golden days of Mena airport and hopes to make it easier to rekindle those smuggling moments in his own back yard. No way on earth he actually gives a rats arse about a convict unless it's a personal friend.

I wonder if Asa favors pardoning the California medical mj users and distributors he hounded to hell and back? Would he have a part in restoring their financial lives he ruined? And for what?
Hey Red, don't bogart that joint my friend, pass it around, and the other stuff too. We can all get crazy.

Too bad Marion Crank is dead, wonder what his cutting edge views would be today? Tell us about your email Asa. Tell us what's the damn deal with your former number 2 man, Ron Fields? Suspended with pay while working for you because they thought he was involved in a drug ring and a murder? Then the news about him having sex with young mentally impaired woman? I always thought Ron Fields was a Boy Scout? Come to think of it for a long time I thought Asa was a Boy Scout too. Remind me to get a Boy Scout outfit for Halloween.......
Then came the deal with Rudy and OxyContin at DEA while Asa was in charge. Then the quick flight from Rhineland Security right into the national security consulting business....don't have to be very smart to see how that works. Then King of the Penny Stocks!
And now.....angling once again to get back on the government tit. Why not go back to being a lawyer and chasing ambulances? Asa's time in the sun is over. I push my Snooze Button on him. Good day, sir.

PS The City of Fort Baptist hired J.C. Watts last year to be our DC lobbyist. So far Bush hasn't bombed us, but I think that's all we've got for our money. Isn't it nice to find lots of good jobs for the well connected of the Republican Party. Even cities get into the act and ya know could it be that Asa helped get J.C. these Fort Baptist pennies from heaven?

DBI isn't it strange that Ft Baptist and Fayetteville, both the largest cities in the 3rd Congressional District, must hire lobbyists to bring home the bacon. Seems sooner or later the city poppas would learn that it's time for EFFECTIVE leadership.
