Legislative race UPDATE
A veteran Capitol observer says Little Rock lawyer John Edwards will join the Democratic race for the District 38 House seat. Jeff Dailey of Little Rock has already announced. This is the seat Rep. David Johnson is leaving to run for Senate. Ed Linck has announced as a Republican.
CHECK THAT: I haven't been able to reach Edwards, but a friend says a declaration of candidacy is premature. He is being strongly encouraged to get in, however.
UPDATE: An e-mail Friday morning from Edwards says he has the race under "active consideration." Also an invite to a Dailey fund-raiser indicates a list of familiar supporters.

WOW talk about a huge step down
Loses in Iowa loses in New Hampshire Loses in South Carolina
Now he wants to run for the State House in Little Rock?
Or is it the television psychic that may run for State House?

Orval Eugene -
To quote Lisa Loopner, "That's so funny, I forgot to laugh!"
On a more serious note, I have known John Edwards since 1970. We went to school in England, AR from grades 3-12 and have remained friends through college, his marriage, the birth of his two sons, his deployment to Iraq, his deployment to New Orleans, up to the present. John is the straightest arrow I know. Ever since elementary school, he's had his eye on a public office to serve the people. I can't think of a better person to be a state or US senator or representative, governor, ambassador, or even POTUS.
If he does choose to run and wins the office, the people of his district will be well-represented.
Run, John, Run!!

He is a great guy, a great story-teller and a very smart guy. I always thought he'd be a good governor. But he's such a nice guy I hate to see him get mixed up with politicians.

John Edwards would make an outstanding addition to the Arkansas legislature. His record of service to our state and nation speaks volumes about who he is and what he stands for. During uncertain times like today, he would be as solid as a rock and someone the district could count on to do the right thing. I will be sure and add my voice to those encouraging him to make this run.

John has the experience, intellect and temperament to be a great public official and asset to any elected office. The constituents of District 38 and the state would be well served and lucky to have him as their representative. He'll always get my vote.

There's no doubt it would be competitive race if John jumped in. I do know that Jeff already has a solid list of supporters already in the hopper. I don't know John, but Jeff will be tough to beat.
Let's see which one is more committed to pounding the pavement. That's where these contests are won.

Edwards and Dailey are top quality people. Either would make an excellent representative for Little Rock. It appears that Dailey has gotten the jump by locking down key support.

All joking aside John Edwards is a great guy
But I honestly did not know he has set up his law shop in Little Rock.
I like and respect Edwards but he is a little too conservative for my tastes
And seems like Dailey has done the groundwork to lock up some big names in the district. I also like the idea of bringing a younger generation into the fold.
Kinda like how Snyder was a better fit than John for CD 2, I see Dailey a better fit for District 38

Seems like Edwards would be better served with a Federal appointment. can't imagine he would use this seat for anything but a stepping stone
I am sticking with Dailey

Orval Eugene -
I'm still not sure if you understand that we're talking about the John Edwards who has lived in Arkansas his whole life - the last 25 or so years in Little Rock. He's always been a lawyer (when he wasn't a soldier, an aide to Senator Pryor, etc.). Something tells me you still think we're talking about former Senator and former presidential candidate John Edwards.
Also, how do you figure he is a " little too conservative for my tastes."
I hope this clears things up for you.
