Running for a TV show?
Mathematically, Mike Huckabee can't win the presidential nomination. (Or at least the odds are prohibitive.) So why does he run? For one thing, he's not ready to say he couldn't win a miraculously brokered convention. And, on reflection, I'm beginning to believe he's probably not running for the vice presidency. As he himself said yesterday:
"There's no illusion on my part that if I hang in here and keep running against him he's liable to say, 'Oh, thanks for hanging in there and running against me for so long. I think I'll pick you as my running mate,'" Huckabee said.
So then, what? He runs a cheap campaign -- though not so cheap that it isn't pouring money and other benefits into his family. He shares a national spotlight with McCain. He builds cred for a talk show, a TV pastorate, etc. What else does he have to do at the moment?
On the other hand, Howard Kurtz notes that the media has been wrong before about Huckabee -- and lots more.

If the Huckster runs against Pryor I would give serious consideration to voting for him over Pryor. That's how low Pryor has sunk in my political rankings.

Regardless of the outcome, Mike Huckabee will be an important leader and a voice who will insure our values are important.
But those who believe will continue the fight to the convention. Though we are attacked from all sides, our faith makes us strong.
Cannons to the right.
Cannons to the left.
Boldly they ride.......

The last dollar spent by that campaign will be spent on a Huckabee. He's an out-of-work preacher with an entitlement attitude. He's going to milk it dry.

I think you and DBI need a weekend of Viagra or something. Pryor runs an 80% demo vote. I have no use for his Bushshit pandering on key issues but never should a sane person put a totally useless person like Huckabee into one of our Senate seats. At least Pryor can bring home an ounce of bacon on occassion.
Huck would be so caught up in ethics violations he couldn't represent any body. He would make Tom DeLay look like a saint.

Huckabee has been a professional pastor and a professional politician. from the day he left office Mike is now a professional hustler.
But unlike Rev's Jackson and Sharpton (professional pastor/pol/hustlers) before him, Huckabee's hucking 'Christ' for dollars from those who believe they are victims of discrimination (read: on the losing end of political power and cultural change) for believing that US law should reflect their "faith".
Faith instead of Race, a most lucrative market for his skills.
I expect he'll do well for himself and his family. And that Mike too, will have his own "Tawana" and perhaps a "Nifong" in the future.

Born Red, I don't know if you or I are "born" thinking this way. I tend to think we're taught by somebody.
"Regardless of the outcome, Mike Huckabee will be an important leader and a voice who will insure our values are important."
Guess you're right, if "our" important values encompass the anti-scientific "belief" that the earth is 6,000 years old, evolution is a sham, gay and lesbian human beings are worthy of death, the American Constitution needs to be amended to accord with Huckabee's hateful understanding of "God's Law" (Let's quarantine gays and lesbians), Global Warming is a figment of tree-huggers' imaginations, etc.
And I empathize with your feeling that, "Though we are attacked from all sides, our faith makes us strong."
Facts are tough. Not everybody is like you, Born Red. Perhaps the most glorious, God-like quality if you like, in America, is that human beings of different beliefs can live together and get along in equality.
At least, that's what we used to be able to do in these United States.
Maybe no longer.
If you feel assaulted, as your signature suggests -- "Cannons to the right. Cannons to the left. Boldly they ride" -- and you're fond of war metaphors, perhaps you might examine how your militaristic theocratic "values" are assaulting Democracy and the foundations of America.
Supposedly, there is room for everybody, here in America, to live lives of love, equality and respect.
Including you.
Or, "just" you and Huckabee's followers?
