Will they overcome?

Little Rock lawyer John Walker, co-chair of the squabbling state Martin Luther King Jr. Commission, has called a meeting of the commission on personnel matters at noon Tuesday. Hmm.

Gov. Beebe needs to step up and blow up the whole MLK Commission and start over from scratch. This is a joke. As a citizen, black or white (I'm black), we should all be disgraced that this.
It's a disgrace to Dr. King's memory and a disgrace to the state. We need to implore Gov. Beebe to correct this situation and fast. It's not going to get any better with a hands off approach. This is state agency and it should be ran and treated as such.

Who is he going to sue other this?

Bugeye, you took the words right out of my mouth.

If they are changing personnel in this diverse group, we need to see a little yellow, brown or curdled milk skin color on one of the new members . . .

CBM - I agree.

MLK is the most abused name there is. People think if you tag something with MLK it is somehow supposed to stand for good. ACTING like Dr. King will do that for you. Just tagging his name to something does not cut the mustard. I always though that people that people celebrating MLK day with a day off went against everything Dr. King ever preached about.

Dr. King is looking down and just shaking his head.

Why does this stupid, stupid entity even exist?

Abolish the damn thing.

Don Keyhotay, I agree, the Commission needs to more diverse. I mean, didn't Dr. King want us to transcend race? he MLK Commission should NOT be only about black people. It SHOULD stand for all people and reflect activites of that nature. But it doesn't. Its' heavily focused on black issues. If you are going to go all out on the MLK Holiday, go all out on Cinco DeMayo! Embrace all cultures. My bad, I'm sure someone on the blog will soon question how black I am. Excuse me for thinking like Dr. King and the ideals he represented.......

I saw Governor Beebe on Channel 11 this morning, and when he was asked about the MLK Commission, he said that it is an embarassment that an organization that was founded to promote unity can't seem to get along. Gov. Beebe obviously recognizes the embarassing state of disarray that the MLKC is in, so I wish that some action from someone outside of the organization would take place to get it back to order. Obviously the MLKC members can't take care of their issues internally. Someone on a previous blog post asked to see a list of accomplishments that the MLKC has made and I agreed that I too would love to know what my tax dollars are going toward...I'm still waiting on a list.

I'd like to see the budget of the Commission. Is it audited by Legislative Joint Audit?
Here's its web site:

I say John Walker is the problem. He is lower than dirt. I gurantee you he will sue before its over.

Trivia question for the day: Who has the shortest list of accomplishments:

(a) Hillary!

(b) Obama

(c) MLK Commission

(d) All of the above

DING! We have a winner!

Now, how would you answer for the longest list of NEGATIVE accomplishments?

"Now, how would you answer for the longest list of NEGATIVE accomplishments?" Donkey

Mike Huckabee.
.

Sorry eL - answers are limited to (a), (b) or (c). And, of course, (d).
