Arkansas's growing Latino population

A new study shows that the number of Latino graduates of Arkansas high schools will more than quintuple over the next 15 years, a factor for educators to consider as they work on high school and college graduation rates.

Comments

Watching the Latinization of Arkansas will be interesting. More and more Latinos will graduate from Arkansas high schools and go on to college and beyond. They will become mid-level and upper-level managers. They will enter politics and get elected to school boards and quorum courts. They will become city directors and members of the legislature. And they will be bilingual. Twenty years from now, anyone running for governor had better be bilingual. The Latino voting bloc will be a formidable force.

Latinos are having kids at a better than replacement unit pace. No other demographic is doing that. I've been telling everybody for years that if you want your college, business, city, or whatever to grow, recruit Latinos. It's not just about politics and voting blocs. Viva la Raza!

You're right, Whoscrumdown. It is about more than a voting bloc. The influx of Latinos will make our cultural tapestry richer and brighter, and the impact on commerce will also be significant. But I just can't resist tweaking the noses of some of our fellow citizens by reminding them of the coming political influence of Latinos.

>>Latinos are having kids at a better than replacement unit pace<<

Not sure exactly what that means but damn, sounds to me like they're up to something.

That can't be good. We need to keep our eyes on them I'll tell you that right now. I'll take the afternoon shift.

When we are taken over by mexicans we will be called northern mexico. No more USA.
I hate to think we'll be no different than the way Mexico is now... How is that? A president that doesn't care about it's people.. Boy what a future... Mexicans here and blacks there, in control. Will there be to much friction there, don't know.

Chasv-

I'm sure the Mexicans thought the same thing - in 1848 when Northern Mexico was "annexed" by the US.

You probably know it better as "the Mexican Cession."

It's called La Reconquista.

Hello sly, I wasn't around then just like you and I weren't around when blacks were brought here as slaves.
That is in the past but if the lazy whites keeps sitting on their butts waiting on someone to serve them they'll too weak to defend themselves when the takeover occurs.
We don't know the future but we can predict it to some degree..it is closer now than ever. Like the hand writing on the wall.
Besides I wasn't serious. There is too many whites in this country to let anything like that happen.

There's one of those noses already. Tweak, tweak, chasv.

There's one thing about it chasv. God must love those messicuns cause he made so many of them and he is still allowing them to produce more of god's children than whites are doing.
You know chasv, as you've posted numerous times, this messicun takeover wouldn't be happening if it wasn't god's will.
Viva el tiempo futuro de Dios!

Chasv,

Please get an education and learn the significance (or insignificance, rather) of your comments in the history of immigration and bigotry, about the history of assimilation in the US of major immigrant groups, about previous demagoguery of Italian immigrants (in a similar manner to Latinos), etc.

Please see what much smarter people than you have to say about the subject, and why.

If this is anything like what happened in urban districts in Texas like Dallas and Fort Worth, you can forget about the current racial situation in the LRSD in a decade. The real issue will be underrepresented Hispanic students (parents unable to vote) and a deep divide between blacks and hispanics. I used to live in Dallas and the racial politics there in a district long abandoned by whites were far more complex than even ours.

Senator Denny Altes, where are you when you are needed?

Bible said that the meek shall inherit the earth... are these mexs meek.. It looks as thou they are.
See everything we need to know is already been said in the Bible.

Chasv -

You are so right, the Bible tells us a lot:

Proverbs 26:11
As a dog that returneth to his vomit, So is a fool that repeateth his folly.

And it says Prov. 10:13 That a rod is for the back on him that is void of understanding.... Why don't you wise up. There is nothing in the word of God that is folly. So I'll return to it often.
