Eggshibition postponed

Eggshibition, the fund-raiser for Youth Home, was scheduled tonight. It has been postponed until 7 p.m. Sunday at the Jack Stephens Center at UALR.

But the Arkansas Times Musicians Showcase will go on. See Rock Candy.

This buys a little more time for Mrs. Big Fun, whose Eggshibition togs are locked up at the cleaners.

Where might charitable folk find out more info about this shindig??

Try the philanthropy/social pub in town, Inviting Arkansas. Their March cover story features this year's event and other upcoming events.

Basil ... Eggshibition has long been my favorite fund-raiser. Youth Home does fantastic work helping kids for whom it really is a last resort, but I must admit that the enjoyment comes primarily from how fun the event is. Brass tacks: $50 ... open bar ... plenty of food ... fairly casual (jeans to khakis to biz casual to suits) ... artist-decorated plaster o' paris eggs that are amazingly imaginative ... about 10 years into this we've got them all over the Fun residence ... great live auction items that don't go for arms/legs. Anyway ... come Sunday and I'll buy you a drink (oh, that's right, they're free).

Now ... the rant continues. Not only is Mrs. Fun's garb locked up in the locked-down Moose Cleaners, but she spiked her cell phone on the tile floor today, so I popped down to Alltel in Riverdale about 3:30 ... only to find it closed. So, with no home phone and Mr. Fun out having, well ... fun, she's incommunicado until they deem the blizzard threat over. Sunday, maybe?

All will be forgiven, she says, if I bring her home a big, hot steamin' Vino's pizza. Arrive at 7:45-ish. Good news. Lights on. People drinking beer, eating. Enter ... only to be told they've just closed because temps are dropping and streets are bound to be treacherous any second now.

Drive home without pizza, trying to remember what's in the fridge/pantry/freezer, on nearly-dry streets. At 8:25 p.m. weather.com says the temp is 34. First hour temps (not roads, but air temps) expected to be below 32, which I believe is the freezing point? 1 a.m.

I'm pissed. Mrs. Fun says I've got to get over it. Not sure I can.

Thanks! I may hunt you down for that (those) free drink(s). Eggshibition sounds like a good cause.

I stand by my previous dry cleaner statment. Bad drycleaners are a pet peeve for me. Moose isn't always the best quality, but I like em okay. I had a bad time with Cuffs a while back and have heard all kinds of nastiness so I prefer Moose. I've heard good Hangers is alright. Moose I like okay though. I know Cuffs has "lost" several very expensive items so I don't go their anymore. I take all kinds of high dollar items to Moose and they get back safe, so they're my go-to place because they are USUALLY open and pretty quick.

Okay, I haven't had any chicken-n-dumplin's in about 45 minutes, so...
