Boy, amazing they didn't eat up the sundial all those years ago.

Gee, any centerfielders out there with broadjumping or hurdling experience? If the centerfielder misses the ball and it lands in a sinkhole, would that be a homerun? I haven't been to a game since my father, a devoted St. Louis Cardinals fan, died, but this might be fun to watch, especially with an alligator or two thrown in.
Hmmm. I get the feeling I'd have fit right in with the fans at the gladiator games in ancient Rome. Such a pleasant way to spend a lovely spring day . . .

Anyone have any idea why no pics? Seems like that would be the best part of the story.

Sinkholes often indicate there are fault lines or caves underneath. Sometimes they are like herpes, go away only to return at embarrassing moments.

Ya'll remember now that the playing field is below the water table in that particular area. They probably got a little lax about running the sump pumps over the winter break.

I think this park is jinxed. First, the base coach got beaned and died, and now this. I'm betting the park was built over an ancient Indian burial ground, or a cemetery without moving the graves.
