Life isn't fair

Prosecutors have decided to drop their appeal of a judge's ruling that allowed thief Tom Coughlin pay for his crime of stealing $400,000 from Wal-Mart by making him go to fancy fund-raisers. Iconoclast decided to do a little comparing of the sentence of the former Wal-Mart vice chairman and mere mortals.

Here's the link to the particular post to which you refer and yes, never steal small.

THANKS, eLwood. Maybe I'll get this figured out before Max gets back. And maybe not! - LNP

VP Spiro Agnew was found guilty of accepting bribes from highway construction companies while he was governor of Maryland. He had to resign, was fined $60,000, put on probation for 5 years and was his won probation officer. He went to California and hob-nobbed with the Hollywood elite. Justice still prevails in America.

Hey, you guys might have it all wrong. If hubby were in Turkey Coughlin's shoes and had to go to a fundraising party, he'd think he'd been handed a death sentence.
But here's the part of the Iconoclast's commentary that floored me:

"Just last month, Keonna Yantize Williams pleaded guilty to theft of property and forgery, both class B felonies, under a plea agreement that got him 10 years in prison for his role in using forged checks to purchase a Sony Playstation 3 and a laptop at the Pleasant Grove Wal-Mart Supercenter in Rogers. Circuit Judge Tom Keith required him to pay $1,420 in court costs and gave him credit for the 156 days he spent in the Benton County Jail awaiting trial."

Hmmmm. Same victim. I suppose you could argue that Williams' crime was worse than Coughlin's because the amount stolen probably meant more to him based on a net worth comparison.
Still, I'd like to know the name of Williams' attorney. Should I ever need representation in that part of the state, I never want to be at the mercy of the court with him beside me.
By the way, just how much will Williams' incarceration cost us taxpayers? And for a non-violent crime?
