Rehm's Moving

Quarters are usually cramped for the monthly speakers series at the Clinton School for Public Service, but word comes now that an upcoming talk by NPR's Diane Rehm has been moved to Robinson Auditorium in order to accommodate an expected overflow crowd.

Rehm, the host of NPR's "Diane Rehm Show," will speak Thursday, April 3, 2008 from 8:30 a.m. – 9:30 a.m. in the Barry L. Travis Exhibition Hall at Robinson Auditorium. She will sign copies of her book, "Finding My Voice" afterward.

Seats are still available. Reserve yours by calling (501)683-5239 or sending an e-mail to: publicprograms@clintonschool.uasys.edu. All previous seat reservations are still valid.

Cramped space and SRO crowds for a lecture series is a good problem to have -- to some extent. It's sort of a shame that these events have to be moved on such a regular basis, so I'm wondering, when is the trailer-library going to be expanded? Why was the Clinton primary gathering space for such events so small to begin with? Will a separate, stand-alone lecture series building ever be constructed so as not to mess with the integrity of the original structure? Tell us, Skip.

The Clinton School of Public Service resides in the red brick building known as Choctaw (Old Spaghetti Warehouse for those who recall). While it does sit next to the "trailer-library" it is a separate entity. None the less, I agree that bigger lecture hall would be great; although, I would remind you that the school is just a few years old.

How much is the tax payers of this state gonna be out for funding this liberal woman to "speak" at the Clinton School? This is a rediculous waste of our money. We say let the people who want to hear these kind of speakers pay for it themselves, not with our tax dollars. By the way we also believe that if we have to fund this so called "school" then only kids from Arkansas should be enrolled there.

BJ,
You jackass. Not a dime of taxpayer's money is spent on the speaker's program. It's funded by private donations to the college. I've told you that before. please, stfu.

Despite what BJ says, Diane Rehm is an excellent choice. I wish I could take of work and go.

First, define "we." It would be great, because then I would be stressing out alot less about whether or not my application will get accepted, but I appreciate the competition. Why are you so offended by having such a high quality graduate school in our state? It must be the name, because I can't find a LOGICAL reason for your vehemont opposition. You should be proud of the institution. It's nationally recognized and competitive as a top-tier school, they raise tons of private money to provide every student a scholarship (some full, some partial) and fund community programs like this, and the students actively participate in economic development programs throughout the state, country, and world. If you are so blindly conservative that you choose to oppose that school at every turn simply because of its name, then there is no hope for you. It's sad, really. I don't look down on the Bush School of Public Service simply because Dubya's daddy's name is on it. It's a good school (and they're making strides to catch up to the CSPS in the areas where the BSPS is deficient...they will soon be just as formidable of a school, too). You're a pathetic little man, Barrett.

Thank you, Hack. My smart-aleck offerings aside, I love the library and all it has to offer. As for the SRO crowds and cramped space, I was thinking of the "Great Hall" at the library itself and, well, it is actually kinda small. Thanks, too, for setting me straight. Cheers.

Hey, Barrett. You best mind what devilsadvocate tells you. Get back under your rock or he just might sic the rumor mongrels on you.

Pavel,
BJ can say whatever he wants, but he shouldn't expect to not be called out when he's spewing bile from his mouth.

How many bottles of whiskey do you pour into your drowning brain each day? Or is it the meds?

How much did the taxpayers fund for Clinton School for speakers
Karl Rove
John Woo
???

Finally the school is coming back to its origins.
