Struggling Republicans
Politico takes a look at struggling state Republican party organizations, including Arkansas's:
In Arkansas, where Republicans lost the governorship in 2006 and are outnumbered in the state House and Senate by 3-1 margins, state GOP Chairman Dennis Milligan said he is facing defections and malaise.
“Independent conservative individuals just said they were fed up and they said there is no difference [between the two parties],” Milligan said. “We have sent out the message that we are now different. We know it did not fall down in one day and it won’t be rebuilt in one day.”
Not that John McCain is probably worrying much. The latest Rasmussen poll has him ahead of Hillary Clinton 50-43 here, and ahead of Barack Obama 59-30.

Leave it to Demos to screw up a steel ball.
Once again two ego maniacs have screwed the entire party.

I wonder if the Greens could have more candidates running for the Arkansas G.A. than the Republicans. It would be fun seeing them (the R's) as a "third party."

That would be funny. Here's hoping the Greens get stronger!

Fortunately the nation is far from being like Arkansas, a red state who has long provided cover through their right -winged FOB DLC Democratic party operations.. Now that Democrats in America can begin to be Democrats again.. AR may very well go Red... SO be it.. racism in any form and conservatism in its current form must be rejected by the country at almost any cost.. Coddling the South has cost us everything from 800 year old habeas corpus to another torturous needless war based on controlling people and stealing resources for the benefit of our religious extremists and wealthy elite..
Anyone surprised by Arkansas FOB/Pryor Democrats willingness to vote for McCain deserves a wake up call... they have always been pearl clutching Confederate worshiping Republicans at heart.. its well past time America as a whole makes them admit it or change their failed ways.

I'd come closer to believing my penis could witch up a water well than believe that Grandpa McCain could beat anyone at anything other than lying and checkers at the present time. Whatever he once may have been, he ain't now. He's just a sad confused old man who'll be lucky to hold up till election day.
Anyone who could vote for the Bush-hugging, 100 more years in Iraq, Keating 5, girl lobbyist diddler is insane. If ya think John McCain will make us safe and win the war in Iraq, turn in your drivers license, have the State come pick up yer kids, and turn yourself in for incarceration in a nice quiet, padded place in Benton.
The people who take the polls have a big money stake in keeping this a viable election as long as they can so they can collect as many paychecks as possible. They're a lying bunch of polecats and the words dripping from Osama's mouth are more believable.
Jesus......how gullible are we? The country and the world are in ruins and we're gonna send back some more of the same people that got us in this mess? I'd rather have the Red Chinese come a-callin. John McCain my ass! Republican Party 1854-2008 good riddance!

I doubt Arkansas is voting for McCain as much as voting against a black man or Hillary Clinton.

The decline of the Republican Party in Arkansas would be much more comforting if the members of the party opposing it were actually Democrats.

We're so "gullible" that more people can name the 3 Stooges than can name the 3 branches of government!! Not so gullible as L.A..Z...Y - and IF "Clinton's Foibles" could have single-handedly destroyed the moral fiber of the electorate, what has President Dipshit's anti-intellectual, anti-science, pro-Christian IGNORANCE done?!!

Arkansans have always delighted in defying political logic. Remember 1968? Arkansans split their tickets and voted for Wallace, Rockefeller and Fulbright.
So, what will AR do statewide and Congress in November?
Probably McCain, Snyder, Boozman, Berry, Ross, Pryor.
The AR GOP is in shambles 'cause the GOP Gov for 10+ yrs could care less about party building. He was too busy doing the Huckabee's HandOut, and getting his and janet's names put on every possible public building.
Spotted Janet the other day when we were going to Sam's. She was driving a Big New Chevy Tahoe, flexfuel, with an Elk Tag that said AR01 on it. Since the Gov's vehicle always if private tagged, did he get to keep that tag and just renew it when he became a private citizen? Did he get to purchase his former state vehicle for a small fraction of its cost? Or did he and Janet put that on their Gift Registry? Hmmm.
Give her credit ... she pumped her own gas at W-M. Perhaps paid with a Cash Gift Card from some contributor/friend?
Has the former Gov/unsuccessful presidential candidate been hired for a series of speeches at Wal-Mart yet? Wonder what they'd pay him for his thoughts?
