ABC News' Jake Tapper:
------------------------
l just spoke with a Democratic Party official, who asked for anonymity so as to speak candidly, who said we in the media are all missing the point of this Democratic fight.
The delegate math is difficult for Sen. Hillary Clinton, D-NY, the official said. But it's not a question of CAN she achieve it. Of course she can, the official said.
The question is -- what will Clinton have to do in order to achieve it?
What will she have to do to Sen. Barack Obama, D-Illinois, in order to eke out her improbable victory?
She will have to "break his back," the official said. She will have to destroy Obama, make Obama completely unacceptable.
"Her securing the nomination is certainly possible - but it will require exercising the 'Tonya Harding option.'" the official said. "Is that really what we Democrats want?"
----------------------------------
Yep, Hillary's willing to make the Democratic party go to ruins so that she has a chance at some indetermined point in the future to run for president. I am losing the shriver of respect I have left for her.
Madame picked an odd (bedfellows?) place to change the subject from her Bosnian 'snipe-hunt', at Richard Mellon Scaife's newspaper...
Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton, in a wide-ranging interview today with Pittsburgh Tribune-Review reporters and editors, said she would have left her church if her pastor made the sort of inflammatory remarks Sen. Barack Obama's former pastor made. "He would not have been my pastor," Clinton said. "You don't choose your family, but you choose what church you want to attend."
I guess the cops don't have anything better to do. Two 93 year-old men arrested in a sex sting. Where is DBI and eLwood, anyway? For the story, click on Cato.
CATO, clearly most cops lack any sense of probity or decor. If those two Florida fellows can get it up at 93 years of age (Leno is gonna have a ball with it) no ticket should be issued, only a reward for having survived in America without being killed by a cop, mugger or a Rwing Republican. Indeed they should be a walking promo for American health care, diet and a healthy libido.
We had a friend who was once a macho man, high school coach and married to a knock out of a woman 20 years his junior. When Rick turned 55 his wife threw him a party and that was in '98. I took him a Viagra birthday kit...two popsickle sticks with some bandage tape.
I'm watching Frontline on PBS.... everyone should watch it. I now understand the term "criminal stupidity" Whoever the democratic nominee is, when elected they must.. must... must, undo everything Bush and his minions have ever touched. Our mission should be clear. Vote Democrat. Take back our country.
I'm not sure which is the stronger emotion right now, anger or shame. I guess one stems from the other and there's plenty to go around. Sigh....................
I just watched the blinded with bias CNN
talking heads criticize Clinton for
saying she would have left her church
if her pastor had made hateful statements.
What they failed to tell their viewers
was that she was asked that by a reporter.
They spewed their Clinton hate as if she
was the one that brought it up. They even
suggested she did it on purpose. These
people are either stupid or very dishonest
to report it the way they did.
oddball you hit the nail on the head. these people arguing about which democrat are going to get past the problem and by stupidity lose again. i saw bobby kennedy jr a few months ago give a lecture. he was asked how all of the laws and regulations this administration have undone could be found quickly enough and put back into place? he replied that is easy, get me and some good democrats who have been watching what has been going on and we will show you where they are. bush was not smart enough to be sneaky they just changed things blatently and said screw you rest of the country and most of what they did was by executive order which can be overturned with a signature. at least their stupidity will make some things easy to fix if the democrats don't ruin things before the general election by offending so many voters that they all end voting for perot, much less mccain.
Muleboy people like you and your
comments are going to win this
election of McCain. Don't assume
all us liberal Democrats will
forgive and forget the hate you
and other Obama supporters have
spewed.
At this point, I'd rather see 4
more years of Republican rule than
see Obama win. Sometimes things
have to get worse before the get
better and sometimes the worse they
get the better they get. Perhaps a
McCain victory in 2008 might not
be such a bad thing long-term.
the Clinton's political calculations of 1992 are defendable, in light of 12 straight years of GOP occupation of the White House. (and after all, they did WIN. and as James Carville then put it "they didn't break the GOP electoral lock as much as they 'picked' it)
the Clintons seems stuck in 1992 (and arguably 2002) when obviously, by the delegate count and popular vote count, times and methods have changed.
I had lunch with about 20 Democrats today and all of them say they will vote for McCain before they will vote for Obama. They claimed their reason is because Obama is a Muslim.
I tried my best to convince them that Obama is NOT a Muslim.
That's an excuse. They don't want to admit they are racist SOB's. I saw it, felt it. I X-ed them out of my life forever, because I am done with idiots.
Anybody who would vote for a Republican after what Bush-Cheney has done to this country is a traitor to the United States of America.
I am still pulling for Hillary to win the nomination, and now I am scared to death that if Obama wins it, Insane McCain might win.
Nonetheless, I'm voting for the Democratic candidate. Hell, I'd vote for a snake-charmer before I'd vote for a Republican.
Bold, if you're a liberal democrat I'd hate to see a conservative republican. If you'd change your vote in an election of national importance because someone pissed you off on a blog, that says it all. It's more or less, although on a far smaller scale, what Hillary is doing now.
Is there just no news to report on the local TV channels? If I hear one more time about the change to all digital broadcasts in FEBRUARY 2009, I am going to explode.
There have been endless commercials and now they're making it part of the news program? Why do they need such filler? Aren't there underreported stories that need to be broadcast? How about the drama at Dillards and CDI? Geez, it even involves a missing CFO!
What about the attempts to emasculate the Freedom of Information Act? It seems as if the local news in Little Rock sorely needs someone to keep an eye on the state legislature. There are more things going on there that don't get reported and then we're shocked--SHOCKED!!-- that something is being considered or....dare I say it....enacted into law. I know, I know....the general public has the attention span of a gnat and prefers to hear about the latest news about which Hollywood nitwit is entering or exiting rehab.
not to worry, let not your fears overwhelm your hopes, as 2008 will be the easiest DEM victory since 1932.
the GOP choice (if he lives that long) is John McCain "more of the same" (a knee-jerk "oh HELL NO" response)
the DEM choices are:
Hillary Clinton "back to the old 'more of the same' before the current 'more of the same' (a knee-jerk "oh well, if we have to" response)
Barack Obama "i wonder if he means what he says? maybe, just maybe he does" (a knee-jerk "why the hell not?" response)
and even if another Sirhan should appear this year, and the sour taste of 'BCBC' incline the Convention to look elsewhere, Al Gore would even win by 5-10 % points.
as the electorate begins to seriously consider it's choice after Labor Day, even the most petulant will not opt for "more, or more+" of what they've experienced during the previous 8 years.
So what happened today with Arnell Willis and Crumbly? Does the press not notice that Crumbly is represented by a former attorney for the DPA? Anybody think there is the least intention of giving Willis a "fair" hearing in the Senate?
McCain is already leading Obama
in the polls. His followers have
cited polls repeatedly in arguing
he was more electable. Now
they of course are ignoring the
general election polls.
Obama is not who he says he is.
That's the only reason I'm against
him. He's a phony and a liar.
Of course some opposition to him
is due to his race. Just like much
of his support is due to his race.
If race were the only factor, I'd
support him, but it's not. He is
not ready to be President.
He will lose this election, if he
is the nominee, with or without
my support. Things that Sen.
Clinton and the press won't point
out will be pointed out in the
general election. You don't know
what you don't know, but you will.
This Clinton hatred is so Republican.
Obama's followers even point to the
fact that Republicans hate the
Clinton's as a reason to not support
Hillary. Republicans are loving it.
As usual, they are out playing
Democrats.
I'll not join the argument here but I must ask: what the hell is Hillary doing at the newspaper of Richard Mellon Scaife, the man who spent millions to defame her husband and to defame HER by pushing the lie that she murdered poor Vince Foster? And why are Democrats fighting over which church someone goes to? Why? We have the most villainous opponent imaginable and the country to save here... Scaife himself was at the interview!
"He's a phony and a liar." - The Bold and the Blue
I don't ever remember Obama talking about sniper fire or having to duck his head and run for cover. Sorry. I couldn't help myself. I'm not sure I like any of the three candidates... But a Hillary supporter is in no position to call any other candidate a liar. Well, I guess you could... But something about stones and glass houses keeps popping up in my head.
mag dahling, Run to the right..it's what the Clintons do.. I used to think it was because Bill had daddy issues or some twisted need for abusive authority figures.
Only a fool would applaud the Clinton's for appearing on FOX, running to Rush Limbaugh for help throwing primary votes, and as you point out, sit in the same room, much less allow additional scrutiny by Scaiffe. It's some kind of sickness they have.. and all i can say about them personally is bless their hearts.... politically.. they are beneath contempt. Gollum had more integrity and common sense.
It's bad enough they do this with the media, but it accurately points out their true love affair with right wingers authoritarian types in spite of the years of painstaking abuse.
As for McCain he has his daddy issues too.. his whole military lust/madness.. his willingness to endure, then reject torture..but ultimately embrace in his quest for more power.. his willingness to embrace the wing-nut preachers and so on.. Plus McCains entire campaign is a criminal enterprise at this point in time.. He's jury rigged his campaign finace rules and spent more then he pledged too.. Fortunatley for him, the FEC is supposed to initiate accountability, but do to their being a lack of a majority of FEC positions filled.. they are unable to monitor the election process.. Classic old Republican ploy.... they cannot have accountability in election processes if they are going to be stolen.
McCain is so inept he can't even discern between Sunni and Shia... and he spends enough time in Iraq that he should be semi fluent in Arabic. I don't like to discriminate by numbers but it don't take rocket scientist to see McCain is just hoping to enter the Oval office in as good a mental condition as Reagan was when he left it.. Mccain is too damn old to cut the White House mustard, despite his stupidity.. he's too old.
McCain's toast... but that doesn't mean we don't need to berate his every crumby failing along the way. Nobody in the media is giving him any scrutiny now.. typical republican lovers the MSM is.. But it's also about ratings... Dems are just much more entertaining..and what we decide will be the deciding factor of the next presidency..
So you AR Dems.. keep beating the your redneck friends over the head with facts..and remember AR ain't all of America...neither is the entire South.
Wipe off your fears!! if you aren't mad you aren't paying attention!
I found this back on page EIGHT (8) of The Morning News, BEEBE SAVES GAS COMPANIES...
Majority of wells qualify for exemptions under Beebe's tax plan
Last Update: 3/25 8:29 am
Only 5 percent of the state's wells are classified as wells that would pay the full tax rate that has been proposed by Gov. Mike Beebe as a way to fund additional highway improvements, according to numbers provided by the Arkansas Department of Finance and Administration and the state Oil and Gas Commission.
Beebe last week announced that he would call a special session beginning March 31 to consider raising the tax for the first time since 1957, saying he has more than enough votes necessary in both chambers to pass the tax hike. Beebe's proposal would place a 5 percent base tax on gas-sale proceeds received by producers with lowered rates for some wells. Passing the tax hike requires 27 votes in the Senate and 75 in the House...
bluename
eLwood,
Didn't I tell you months ago that Half-a-Loaf Beebe would sell us out for his corporate friends? (For those who are wondering what "half-a-loaf" refers to, remember that you are still paying sales tax on food.) He had closed door meetings with gas company execs to formulate his severance tax "compromise" disgustingly similar to those meetings Cheney had with oil executives to develop the country's energy policy. Shortly before his announcement, a gas-related corporate headquarters was begun in White County. Appearance of collusion? Hell, Beebe was bought and we were sold down the river.
With Beebe's severance tax, the gas companies will be crying ... all of the way to the bank, because of the sheer weight of all their profits. I hate to say it, but Bob Johnson may have accidentally taken a position in favor of the people by opposing Beebe's proposal.
"Barack Obama has been spending the "long weekend" in the Virgin Islands with his family, including the two children he abandoned to pursue his career (as is Obama family tradition). Then this little white girl found Obama, who probably is having some intellectual breakdown about race now, given all the various colors of children running around."
http://wonkette.com/371424/obamas-dirty-family-vacation-revealed
Jeez, just like our Prez (I'm on Vacation!!!) Dubya.
Don't get cocky big 'O'...It ain't over till it's over..."This is like deja vu all over again."
One last question about Hillary's "under sniper fire" comment - I am confident that any civilian that came under sniper fire would remember most of the details. Maybe they could be a little confused if it happened more than once.
So, if Hillary! is truthful, but confused, there must have been at least one other instance when she came under actual fire. This would be easily verifiable since there would be a reliable security detail and witnesses if she ventured into harm's way.
So, Hillary!, unless you just totally made this up and proved you are a brazen, cheap bold-faced liar - and confirmed you will say anything or invent memories to fluff your importance - and that no world leader should ever give your statements any credibility whatsoever - please end this confusion with a simple response . . .
Name ONE other instance when you came under sniper fire.
Someone earlier mentioned Freedom of Information act in their post. The Log Cabin Democrat in Conway did a pretty decent article this weekend. They sent reporters out to various local agencies and tried to use the law to obtain documents that should be readily available. Overall they were successful, but in one very telling instance, the local law enforcement agency says it will cost $1.00 per page to copy a 300 page manual. You can have the info, it'll just cost ya...
Good to see just how different agencies treat requests for information pursuant to the FOIA. Different agencies, different responses, yet one law. With the Karla Burnetts of the world, a request for a simple police accident report could require an appeal to the Arkansas Supreme Court and a remand to the circuit court to determine whether the landowner of the driveway where a wrecked vehicle pulled off the road had any privacy rights to prevent disclosure of his or her name from the accident report.
There will be attempts in the upcoming legislative assembly to emasculate the best weapon the public has to know what is going on in the people's government.
"That's an excuse. They don't want to admit they are racist SOB's. I saw it, felt it. I X-ed them out of my life forever, because I am done with idiots."-BlueRidge
Thanks for being so upfront about it. It's what I've been tiptoeing around for the past several days....could it be any more OBVIOUS why McCain wins by 30% + over Obama versus a close election the Clinton?
Many Arkansans ARE RACIST. We all know this. We all have bumbling friends who occasionally mutter a racist or quasi-racist comment while we sheepishly grin.
Apologies, bejeeus. Sit down, you're acting as if I personally affronted you.
But do you really think none of your friends harbor some of these racial sentiments at all? If so, I'm truly impressed. You and your cadre constitute and enlightened sect in the state. I rarely encounter your types--anywhere (but especially in Arkansas).
I think it's safe to say that if any of you are friends with very religious, southern-boy/girl types in Arkansas (of which constitute a relatively large portion of the population mainly in rural areas), many of them harbor some sort of racial biases. Even if some are more modest about it. ("I'm not against black people, but I wouldn't want them to move into my neighborhood" type thing.)
The reporter that asked Hillary the question regarding Rev. Wright, was he or she a plant? It was as if she anticipated the question. She was reading from notes. How can she judge Obama to stay with his church and she stayed with Bill and everybody knew what he was doing? It's obvious that she lied about her Bosnia trip, so let it go.
Bloogers unite and file complaint with FEC against criminal John McCain (snip below, full details at my name) Booyah!
Holding McCain Accountable For Campaign Finance Violations
Yesterday, on behalf of a large number of progressive bloggers and activists, Jane went to the FEC and filed an official complaint against John McCain's alleged campaign finance violations. We've been asking a lot of questions about this, and the answers have been less than forthcoming. So, instead of just sitting here and stewing about yet another GOP ethical problem, we decided to put our action where our concerns were.
Blue Ridge said.....
"I had lunch with about 20 Democrats today and all of them say they will vote for McCain before they will vote for Obama. They claimed their reason is because Obama is a Muslim.
I tried my best to convince them that Obama is NOT a Muslim.

You are so right about those fake "democrats"... Actually most of those were probally elderly, unreconstructed "DIXIECRATS" that voted for and supported Orval Faubus, Paul Van Dalsem, and their contemporary fellow travelers: Jack Critcher, Bob "Deathstar" Johnson, Billy Gaskill, and so on.
If I were a betting person (which i'm not), those 20 will be lining up to vote for McCain, sign *and* vote for the Jerry Cox hate petition.
I'm so glad to hear you are sick of the Digital Switchover PSA's (not commericals). This proves that the word is getting out about Feburary 17, 2009. But I'm sure you have cable, Dish, or DirecTV and its not a big concern...thats okay.
Do you know what makes my head explode?
Crain Team car ads (and Car Ads on local TV in general)

general election.

Here is a link to the above story on GAS COMPANIES EXEMPT FROM BEEBE TAX.
It's reassuring to know that Beebe hasn't let this support from the people
effect his corporate sponsoring.
Does anyone wonder why a majority of gas producers were supporting his bill
over the proposed ballot initiative?

Help me understand these numbers.
Arkansans would elect Hillary over McCain by 10 points but would chose McCain over Obama by 20.
This makes NO sense.
I don't get it.

eLwood,
Didn't I tell you months ago that Half-a-Loaf Beebe would sell us out for his corporate friends?

Thanks, Calmwriter!
Thanks again for the article.

Arky,
I'm so glad to hear you are sick of the Digital Switchover PSA's (not commericals). This proves that the word is getting out about Feburary 17, 2009. But I'm sure you have cable, Dish, or DirecTV and its not a big concern...thats okay.
Do you know what makes my head explode?
Crain Team car ads (and Car Ads on local TV in general)
The American Fascist ("family") Association and their fellow travelers
Bush-Chaney
Razorback cheerleading/boosterism on local news
Little Rock area "sports" talk-radio (see item above)

Conservative Democrats
Televangelists
Oh, I could go on about this but its a good start.

They are now the "Red Wolves"..
Where are the NCAA Headquarters located?
Yep, you guessed it, Indianapolis, Indiana.
