Courthouse buzz

Reporters have been circling Circuit Judge Willard Proctor's court today in response to hot rumors that developments were imminent in investigations related to the judge's operation of a highly criticized probation program he set up apart from the state probation system. His fee collection was criticized by state auditors and unorthodox requirements for probationers -- health screenings, for example -- have been cited by others. He fired one employee who claimed health prevented her from attending a required out-of-state retreat he scheduled for staff in Texas, using public money.

Nobody is answering the phone at Proctor's office. So far, no public agency has surfaced with news of any action. The smoke surrounding the subject has been thick for days, however.

Ahhh, rumors. That's some sweet reporting, Maxey baby. Any sightings of the Loch Ness Monster to report? Perhaps Bigfoot?

ARK. BLOG: Not yet. Just two TV crews, AP and D-G. Reporters are asking the same questions of the same people -- FBI and state Judicial Disicipline agency.

Any person that puts on a uniform; a badge, collr or robe etc... has made the most IMPORTANT decision of their life. They have told themselves, their family, friends and the public that THEIR personal beliefs WILL NOT interfere with their job. This particular Judge has walked a fine line between Sheriff, Judge, Jury, Minister and Social Worker. Often, in my opinion, it's as if he mixes the kool-aid and passes it all to who will consume it. These people are all too many times who want help, need help and do not know whee or who to turn to or trust for help. So they drink. And in case you have forgotten thhhose that drank the kool-aid in the past - far too many died. A judge HAS TO HAVE THE ABILITY TO PUT ASIDE THEIR PERSONAL BELIFS AND DO WHAT IS IN THE BEST INTEREST OF THE ACCUSED AND THE LAW. NOT WILL BENEFIT THEM THE MOST FINANCIALLY OR ANY TYPE OF EGO BOOST. When are we going to say enough is enough? When are we as the voters - taxpayers of Arkansas going to say that EVERYBODY has a FAIR AND EQUL CHANCE with the law? If you go before this Judge....Keep in mind his first question to you may well be , "Do you know God/Christ?" If not be prepared to drink the kool-aid.
