Hook 'em Hogs

Here's a little payback for that arrogant Texas Longhorn basketball coach.

The official state musician of Texas for 2008 is roots rocker Shelley King. King (pictured above), is a former Arkie, a graduate of Caddo High School in Montgomery County.

There will be a little ceremony honoring King at the Arkansas Texas Capitol at noon today.

Somebody call the Hogs.

(Note: You don't have to be Texas-born to be chosen. Five-year residency in Texas also qualifies. A winner is named each year for musical excellence and commitment to the arts in Texas.)

President Obama has not yet learned this important lesson, to the detriment of his presidency and the nation. Gov. Mike Beebe, a more experienced lawmaker, has it down. /more/
