The Buzz: Since you asked

Take a deep breath, Tommy Smith fans. He'll be back on air tomorrow.

Can you say publicity stunt?

But I should add that the deep-fried Orson Welles bit (Smith was said to be threatening to quit because of failed contract negotiations) had some listeners in such a panic that Bill Vickery and David Bazzel tamped it down a bit toward the end of the show rather than get advertisers nervous.

Whew! I don't know what I'd do without the sharp wit of Smith and Bazzell together in the mornings.

Only in Arkansas, folks.

If he was off the air for a day, does that mean he has given up his quest for longest continuous bad impersonation of Dave Letterman?

The show would be much better if they didn't start until 7 a.m. The national show from Fox Sports on at 5:00 till they cut it off at 6:00 is excellent. Plus they play the same crap every monring from 6:00-6:15 to give Tommy and Bazzel time to get to work on time which often they don't. I was hoping he was gone. Vickery would have been much better.

The First Team on Fox with Steve Czaban is the show on 5:00 a.m. till 6:00 a.m. We could get two more hours if we didn't have to listen the spoiled brat of radio.

Is Bill Vickery still doing his Bobby Vinton impersonation down at Ciao Baci?

the same joke never gets old does it. they pulled the same thing back in the 80's when he was moving from afternoons to morning. Tommy's not on 105 in the afternoons any more!, did you hear?

Glad it's not true i guess. Where would we go to hear someone eat and talk at the same time, or stammer and cough all morning.

The Buzz hasn't been fun to listen to since they shit-canned Stanley Knox, with the exception of Houston Nutt's on-air bitch out of Wally Hall.

I quit watching Channel 7's Daybreak because of the stupid Morning Buzz segment with the 2 morons. All they seemed to do was scream about inane things. I watch the news for "the news."

Face it, I"m not a fan of Tommy Smith (or local Little Rock radio in general for that matter) but he does the job for the show it is (redneck humor, razorback boosterism). Its on a sports station, and its freaking Guy-Land over there. At least the Buzz isn't running Imus (like it did during 1995-2000) or worse that damn frat-boy Stanley Knox.

As some folks recall, the pre-Tommy Smith KABZ morning show hosts sans Stanley Knox (who mystiously stayed away) nearly destroyed the first Conway Pride with their silly porn-dvd handout back in 2004.

Tommy Smith is such a whiner, and I have to think he comes to work self-medicated on most mornings. He just sounds out of it much of the time. And how many excuses can one grown man come up with for missing work?

But the sad, sad fact is that morning radio in Little Rock isn't much and Buzz options are few.
