Damn, even Herr Rove acting on Herr Bush's behalf allowed "free speech zones" until a federal judge threw out the cases and charges associated with being outside a Rove zone. So, if you think Herr Rove and Herr Bush are bad news for democracy, tremble a little before the Hilter of Hope ever gets a chance to wield a little power.

First Amendment says you can say whatever you want.

Doesn't say anything about how people can react to it.

Let me play devil's advocate for a moment here. She admits to being on the clock. Were any of her co-workers holding up McCain signs? I don't want my employees politicking or doing much of anything BUT work when they are on the clock.

In response to Wyle E., she did say in her letter that she was on her break. Most waitresses get one or two fifteen minute breaks during a shift -- and why holding a sign is less permissable than smoking a cig or calling your mom or eating a Whopper is beyond me. As long as she isn't robbing banks or shooting drugs, it's her 15 minutes.

I think it's particularly ironic that this happened on McCain's "forgotten America" tour. I guess he forgot about the girl who worked for seven years a waitress to put herself through school to become a teacher, who just happened to have political beliefs different from his own. What a disgrace.

The real issue here is what a thin-skinned asshole Mike Huckabee is to even talk to the boss about it. Defends Jeremiah Wright with one breath, then throws a hissy over a Clinton sign with another. What sort of perspective does this man have? Judging by this action, the title Huckster is more and more befitting of this cretin who has bamboozled the country into thinking he's Christian presidential material. He appears to be neither very Christian nor presidential with this type of behavior.

I hope the talk show hosts tear him a new one over this, that the talking heads at the noise networks shine mega-wattage lamps on this idiocy, and that humorists and satirists have a field day with this. Micah needs to take this matter and make money off of it since the foolish former governor felt she didn't deserve to have her job and enjoy her break as she saw fit.

The next time, Micah, hold up a sign that says ASSHOLE. It'll be more appropriate for Huckabee.

I should have read the letter sooner. While I absolutely agree that she did nothing wrong, technically neither did her boss. Personally, I don't know that I would have chosen to exercise my right in this situation even though it's entirely legal. I do try to avoid placing myself in situations that could prove embarassing to my employer. To me, that was the ultimate issue here. She embarassed her employer and he addressed the issue by terminating her.

As to the Hucks filing of the complaint. that's unconscionable. Had he not bitched, I'm sure her employer probably never would have known or cared about it.

She didn't do this on the employers property.. isn't an airport public property?

This really just reinforces my perception of the Huckster as the little weasel beeotch who takes it upon himself to go tell the teacher who the kids were who talked while she was out of the classroom. What a dip.

I have eaten at the Central Flying Service once a week for six years - No more. I'm not a big fan of Hillary's. I'm not a big fan of Obama's. I have no problem with McCain. I have a big problem with Huckabee and Central Flying Service taking their political prejudices out on a hard working waitress who put herself through school and was always cheerful and efficient when serving up the daily special. This is un-American. Huckabee should be ashamed of himself. Central Flying doesn't deserve the patronage of anyone who believes in the first amendment and the constitution of the United States. John McCain better hope this outrageous attack on a working woman doesn't percolate into the national media. For shame, for shame.

The Bro. Guv.'s and Micah's stories don't add up. In my experience, I'd trust Micah.

You can see this one coming up main street. The aspiring singer sets up a stunt to get canned and then runs to the media. This has all the earmarks of a bizzare story that will land her on the national news by Tuesday. Then she can talk about her singing and who knows....the stunt helps the career. You folks really need to take a second look sometimes when you jump on some theme here.

I know everyone on this blog dislikes business, but think of it this way. You own a flying service/restaurant that caters to all manner of arriving and departing planes. If one of your employees really went out of the way to bring attention to herself like this, you get rid of her for the good of the business. It really isn't a constitutional issue at all. It's comon sense. It's your business. If Hillary visited the Arkansas Times newsroom and an employee jumped on a desk to wave a McCain sign...would it embarass the owner...sure it would.

Hey you guys, this is THE Micah of whom we are speaking about! First I want to say thanks to all of the support you guys are showing, and also I want to thank those of a differing view.

However, I must address one thing...this is NOT about any supposed aspirations for a music career. I graduated Cum Laude from UALR with a History/ Political Science degree. I'm 29 years old, and well past my prime in music. The Little Rock Star Competition was a boost of self-esteem, as I did not perform publicly for many years before I entered it. (Except for karaoke and church.)

Where as I LOVE to sing......and for that matter......be in the lime light, I have nothing to gain from what happened to me today.

That being said, the facts are the facts, and I have never been one to stop fighting for what is right and just.

In addition, the Holbert's ARE huge Democrats, but it doesn't change the fact that Mr. Holbert might have had a lapse in judgment, like many of you are accusing me of. I think he was responding to pressure from the "phone call," and over reacted. (This is all speculation, but I choose to be transparent.)

I stand by my integrity. The facts will come out in the coming days. Don't pass judgment until the whole story is brought to light. And trust me, it WILL.

When I woke up this morning, I watched an episode that I dvr'd of "Top Chef." I went to work with no political aspirations, or immediate battles to fight.

This whole incident happened in the blink of an eye. I held my sign because that's who I am as a person. I am a very passionate individual, who cares about the political process. This seemed completely normal to me.

It is a situation that became a complete scandal, period.

Micha is an honest and incredibly forthright person. She is a Christian and unlike the former Pastor she has no reason to lie. She is well like and very well known in the community. You absolutely picked the wrong person to get fired Mike. The story is the truth and Mike Huckabee admitted to his close friend on the phone with 2 witness' that he was upset with Ms. Qualls for having a Clinton sign. He found it "tasteless" and was infuriated by her sign. He spoke with her boss on the Tarmac and later on the phone and got her fired. He used his political power to get rid of someone he felt "threatened" by.. a young woman with a sign. How incredibly ridiculous and Unbelievable! The local news station channel 11 interviewed Ms. Qualls before she was fired. Now they know the whole story and so will the rest of the world in a few days. . They have it on video tape. So it's all documented and so is this entire story. It's all on audio and there will be video . There are witness' who over heard Mr. Huckabee complaining about Ms. Qualls to her boss. Be curious to see if her boss lies for Huckabee...what will they do deny firing her? Huckabee apparently recognized her from the restaurant. He called her supervisior very upset and insisted she be fired. Micah's boss was guided to his decision to fire her by a rather insecure bully aka Mike Huckabee. She was on her break and was not disruptive, she was simply holding the sign. Mr. Huckabee called the writer of this blog and denied even seeing her there. Mr. Mike Huckabee you are a liar and unfit for any office. If you will lie about this what else will you lie about ? This was a very unwise move and decision on your part and you will be held accountable! God is watching you and so are we. We know the truth and so do you. If you continue to lie you will bury yourself and may also affect McCain, he would be a fool to have you as a running mate. I bet he ends up distancing himself from you after all of this comes out. This should really bother people. If he would do this to her what would he do to you. So much for protecting the little guys..he will always protect his own ass. His own close friend took him to task for getting Ms. Qualls fired. He reminded Huckabee that she had a first amendment right to have and display the sign. He got upset with Mike Huckabee and Huckabee accused his friend of getting "cocky" with him...the friend said he wasn't getting "cocky" he was just saying firmly that what Huckabee did was wrong. Because it was wrong and now he is choosing to lie about it. Huckabee brought all of this on himself. Micah was not looking for trouble or publicity...she didn't even know McCain was going to be there today. It was a total surprise and a last minute decision to get the sign from her car. Her co workers dared her to display the sign. She did it of her own free will and not in an obnoxious way. She stood there rather quietly. Huckabee agreed to contact Micah's boss while talking to his friend on the phone but he can't do that now since he denied even seeing her there today on this blog. What a tangled web we weave when first we practice o deceive. The other thing Mr. Huckabee does not know is the friend who called him tonight did so because a friend of Micah's was so upset about what had happened to her and shared it with ironically a man at his work who happened to be close friends with Huckabee and that man got on the phone and called him right there in front of Micah's friend..he heard the whole conversation. Huckabees wife picked up and identified the man calling and then got Huckabee on the phone. After that call Micahs friend called Micah and Huckabees friend spoke with her on the friends phone and told her what exactly was said during the conversation..Does any of this sound familiar Mike Huckabee? It does because it is exactly what happened. No one needs to spin this but you because you are the LIAR in this scenario! This story is going to hit the wire and wil go around the world rather quickly. You think you were having a bad day before you got Micah fired wait until tomorrow or the next several weeks. I really hope you learn an imporatant lesson from all of this...Politics and Jesus don't mix... you cannot serve two Masters. And everything comes to light eventually! the Truth will always win out Mr. Huckabee! You owe Micah an apology and you ought to pay for her tuition and get her a new job while your at it. Lisa speaks correctly. This is what happened, and as much as you may not can believe it, I can't believe that Huck would make such a huge mistake, and lie DIRECTLY to a media outlet, when there are witnesses and video footage of me standing directly in front of him, about 20 feet to be exact. In addition, another hard working employee of Central, (a plane greeter and fueler) told me that they overheard Huckabee ask my boss on the tarmac in front of the plane "isn't that one of the girls from the restaurant?"

And let's not forget the act of kindness from a random stranger who called Huckabee WAY before the "after 9:00 phone call" to Max. I guess he didn't realize that his childhood friend, had more integrity than himself and called ME right after that...all while a good friend of mine was standing there....hearing Huckabees voice on this stranger's phone! (There will be MANY more details about this to come out.)

First Admendment rights do not carry over to private business when you are on their time clock on their property. Even though you have a break, you are still on your employers clock. Central Flying service leases that terminal, so it isn't excatly public property. This sounds like a uber-liberial publicity stunt, as why would someone think it is a great idea to advertise another person running for office when you are on the company clock. I know what was going through the employers mind when he fired her, as alot of big time republicans fly their personal jets into that place. Just look at the stephens hanager and imagine what that would cost central flying service if those planes moved to a private landing strip. Huckabee flew into that strip a numerous amout of times, and spent alot of money at that place, as did a some democrats. As for the Lisa7 comments, without real names it doesn't hold water. You first say that Huckabee made direct comments to the boss at the terminal, and then you said that he called the boss. For you communists out there, I am democrat campaign consultant, and I will for sure be advising my canidates not to touch this with a 10 foot poll.

Does the pandering with the arkansas republicans so that a little known democrat can control the state house need to end? Yes! Does Pryor lean right alot of times? Yes! However, in most of arkansas you are never going to get people anytime soon to vote for someone with the views, of Barney Frank, B. Boxer, Ted Kennedy, or the other far left leaners. The best you can hope for in the US Senate from arkansas is someone who is slightly left of status quo. Looking at it from the angle of a business owner, I'd say Central Flying Service made a stupid decision and they're going to lose money because of it.

Huckabee isn't happy, the customers aren't happy, the other employees probably aren't happy, and all that is going to make the business owner unhappy.

Many of you are commenting on the events on yesterday dealing with the firing of Micah Qualls. Let's take some things in perspective. This has been a young lady working for this company for almost 7 years. 7 long years...bringing in and serving many customers at this restaurant without any problems. If her work ethics were so bad, she would have been fired a long time ago. In the past, the restaurant has allowed employees to wear political propaganda supporting which ever candidate that they wanted. I could understand if the owner was to reprimand Micah for her actions (her freedom as an American citizen actions) because of the phone call they had received. But to fire her over this, over the top. This firing has nothing to do with which political party I support, if I am a business owner, if I am a waitress, or I am the president of Uganda (I had to think of another place rather than say the United States, this is what came to mind). This situation deals with the decision of the employers, the fairness of free speech and this lying spirit that Huckabee has that is coming to a head. Huck knows he had something to do with this situation. If he didn't, he would have had no reason to call his best friend in all of Arkansas, Max. Political pull should not be able to interfere with the livelihood of someone trying to make an honest living. All of you just watch how the story will unfold in the next coming days.

Micah, do you remember Roby Brock? You oughta rip a page or two from his playbook. After Roby had the unmitigated gall to criticize the Huckster in a speech, the Huckster put pressure on AETN to cancel Roby's "Talk Business" show. Roby filed suit and dragged the Huck's sizable ass into district court. Eventually, Huckabuck settled with Brock and Roby's TV show resumed. Judicial Watch was on solid ground last year when it added Huckabee to its list of Washington's "Ten Most Wanted Corrupt Politicians." He was on my personal list of such politicians long before that.

I knew a family that lived on the golf course at Chenal. He had a Dole campaign sign in his back yard, facing the course.
One afternoon he found the sign lying flat on his patio. He replanted it in the ground. About 15 minutes later he heard something an looked out a window and saw a well dress man removing the sign (on 100% private property) and putting it back on the patio.

He rushed out and confronted the man who showed Secret Service credentials. "Bill Clinton is playing today and he doesn't want to see any Dole signs" "I don't really care waht Bill wants. This is my house, my sign, my freedom of speech" "Sir, I think there is a good chance you are right, but the fact is, if you put that sign back in the ground, I will arrest you for disobeying a Secret Service agent. I will take you to the LR jail and have you booked. You can argue your Freedom of Speech there and likely get out, but it is going to take you 6 to 12 hours. You decide."

"The real issue here is what a thin-skinned asshole Mike Huckabee is to even talk to the boss about it. Defends Jeremiah Wright with one breath, then throws a hissy over a Clinton sign with another. What sort of perspective does this man have? Judging by this action, the title Huckster is more and more befitting of this cretin who has bamboozled the country into thinking he's Christian presidential material. Lisa 7 - Nice comment for the most part. It will be interesting to find out via AR Times and other fact checkers if the Huckadog is up to his same old tricks. But for goodness sakes, what has being a Christian got to do with it? Not anything against Christians intended with that question.. It's about being a citizen... and whether or not a few documents from the constitution to a few obscure legal angles will protect Michah... Whether or not the ground she spoke freely upon was public or ground her employers control is probably the deciding issue.

If my employee took a break and went over to protest Choice in front of a clinic, I would be steamed, but firing them would never cross my mind.. and if some Goverator or Ex Governator asked me fire someone over something like this it would be real difficult for me to not laugh in his face. I hope the employer is very ashamed of him or herself right about now.

First, I want to disclose that I am a personal friend of Micah's and am biased. I have known Micah for several years and have found her to be honest to a fault. We attend the same church and I have witnessed her compassion for people who are less fortunate than she. Micah is a good person and has a heart of gold.

Here is the problem, in this scenario, with the argument that businesses have the right to fire people for political campaigning. That argument would have merit except if the company had encouraged and allowed political campaigning prior. Central Flying Service in 2004 allowed employees to campaign for John Kerry on Central Flying Service property, according to Micah, and moreso at the companies REQUEST. Therefore, a precedent had been set by Central Flying Service that political campaigning was acceptable behavior within their company not to mention encouraged. Micah had no reason to believe she would be fired.

Further, to suggest that Micah wants to use this to further her singing career is incredulous. If you look to the past you will see that political scandals have NEVER helped anyone's career. Gennifer Flowers comes to mind. Where's her singing career? The bottom line is that Micah is more likely damaging her career by going public with this story because of cynical people who will think she is an opportunist. If you read her bio she is primarily a Christian singer. Do you think most Christians in the country will support her pro Hillary ideology? Doubtful.

Lastly, Micah has a true dedication to doing what is right. Even if it costs her. I admire her for that quality because she has more courage than just about anyone I know. She's going up against a former Governor and Presidential candidate who has more power than she will ever know, not to mention a major corporation, Central Flying Service. She's just a small town girl standing up for herself against formidable Goliath's. She's aware that Governor Huckabee can wield a mighty sword and cost her much more than losing her job at Central Flying Service (think about it for a minute, she's becoming a teacher in Arkansas, he could ruin her career if he chooses).

Therefore, I am calling on all my friends out there with like minds to email, write, and/or call Central Flying Service and Governor Huckabee to voice your opinions. Below you will find the information to do so.

I'm glad I don't own the Central Flying service food joint. I'm glad I don't have the worship of the almighty dollar on display by wiggleroom. I'm glad the days of news about Huckabee are coming to an end. Ms Micah will come out of this smelling like a rose and have a good lesson to pass on to her children and grandchildren. Lucky for her this is what's left of America and not some hot brown country like El Salvador or instead of getting fired, the wave of the would-be tin horn despot Huckabee's hand might have got her killed.

I propose the people of Arkansas raise up and demand that Mike Huckabee be excommunicated from our state. I've watched Fort Baptist police put homeless people on a bus to Florida, I've seen judges give youthful offenders the choice between jail and military service. Why not rid the state of the shame of Huckabee once and for all? Let Iowa have him. Let him take his handful of supporters and start his own People's Temple in Guyana, South America. If McCain's plane was a customer of CFS, then this gal clearly used poor judgement in her choice of venue for her demonstration. But I feel sorry for her because I have a soft spot for waitresses, God bless 'em. And it sounds like CFS has had some inconsistent policies on political activities at the workplace, so that is another factor.

I appreciate that Dick Holbert is just trying to run his business professionally, and avoid having his employees offending his customers. But at this stage, it is probably reasonable to rehire her (if she still wants the job), and to clarify the company's policies on workplace conduct.

Meanwhile, roll the video and we'll see if anything can be observed about Huckabee's role in the matter.

Thanks for the change. However, the connotation of "demonstrate" and "protest" are still rather similar. Both are typically used to decribe actions that are *against* something, in my opinion.

The simple act of silently holding a "Hillary Clinton" sign seems to be neither a protest, nor a demonstration. It is an act of support for a candidate, rather than an act against another candidate.

I suppose you could say it was a "demonstration of support" for Hillary, but that sounds different to my ear than a "demonstration."

Why not just say that Micah was campaigning for Hillary?

After all, we have reason to believe that Huckabee might vote for Hillary over McCain.

YALL READ THIS ONE!!! *****Micah and I have been extremely close friends since we were 14. She is like a sister to me. She has tought me many things in life I would never have been interested in, including: theatre, music, compassion for others, respect, and of course politics. We used to go to karaoke nights at establishments across town, she gave me the courage to get up and sing. I never realized I had a hidden talent until she SHOWED me. I remembered how she instilled a love for theatre in me by taking me to see the musical "Rent" in Dallas, TX., which she was so inspired by when she saw it on her class trip to New York City. A public apology from Huckabee is required and we are contacting all of the media in an effort to hold Mike Huckabee accountable. What happened was unexceptable and un American. Mr. Huckabee has lied to us all. What he did to Micah is wrong, even Mike Huckabee's close friend agreed with that fact and took him to task. Huckabee chose to lie and deny seeing the woman. Sounds like a typical politician when ever there's a woman involved!

A few years ago I worked for a big republican financeil firm. It was around election time and I had a bunch of democrat stuff in my office. Mainly just pictures of the elected officals I worked for in DC, a democrat presidental election button collection, a few others momento's. The election got pretty heated, I was called into the office and told my picture of Bill and I was campaign material and that I had to remove it from the office. A few weeks later, the company downsized, just one person, Me! With a masters and part of a Phd, I searched for months for a job in the delta that paid around the same amount. Yes it sucked, no I have not gotten back to that benefit level, but I didn't play he said she said nor did I have hotel beelhops tapeing phone calls for me. Yes I feel bad, for the person that was fired, but one has to know when to display irrational exsubrance and polotical hatered at work. When I got canned from the republican finanical job, I called an old boss in DC. He's a democrat like me, actually at one time arkansas voters sent him to DC, and he told me, "Get up, put your chin up, lace up yours boots, say screw the ones that fired you, and tell yourself that something better it out there".

A few years before that, I was working at a goverenment agceny in DC, friends put up campaign poseters in their office's and one had the balls to raise mopney in the office. A few months later that guy spent some time in jail and lost his job, as it is agaginist the law to campaign in goverenment buildings and especially in a goverenment job. So you can see why my heart doesn't bled. It's againist federal law for goverenment employees to do it at work, so why shouldn't it be againist private workers too.

Another thing is that, what Huckabee and cohorts spent in fee's at CFS in the last year and half is probably 5 times as much as the money paid to someone in the resturaunt. One of Huckabee's staff from the Presidental campaign stored his plane out at central and probably paid that young ladies salary. Now I assume that the owner of CFS is running it not to be a good smartian and provide jobs, but instead to make a living. Now lets see, does it make more sense to a business owner to lose maybe $65,000 in fee's for a $20,000 liability? Any accountant, drug dealer, trust fund baby, or eight grader can answer that one. I wouldn't want to keep a employee on that could take away my business.

However, I would pay DBI to blog. He has a natrual nack for blogging. He should probably have his own national blog. I am starting to think that he might be one of the founders of "The Onion".

Yes, I do beleive with most of the orginal ideas of the Democratic party. I beleive in a fair wage for a fair days work. I beleive in everyone should have a voice when they are not on someone elses time clock. I beleive that a person should be able to find a good job with the free education that the goverenment provides them. I beleive that Goverenment should regulate and watch out for the little man. However, I don't beleive in these fairly new social issues that east and west coasters of the party are trying to ram down people's throats. I beleive that people should have the right to everything that everyone else has, and that no one should try to enforce upon another something that does not affect that indvidual just for the sake of trying to put everyone in the same boat. I have my religion, I follow it to the best of my ability, I am not going to force it upon another, and I don't want others forcing their religion upon me. I belive that this country should help others, not by the way of missles and lend-lease guns, but through clean water, medical care and food. I don't think I owe anyone anything, for what my ancenstors did, it's america and you are free to make your own way in this country with the goverenment giving you a slight hand up sometimes. You shouldn't expect a free gift horse nor except one of the Duggar kids as a gift.

Ok, I am done, time to go back out and campaign. If you really want to change this country, get outside on this nice day and campaign. Just don't do it while on the job, on leased property, or inside the state capitol. Every politican has alot of people that think of themselves as a close friend of that elected offical . It's the one that is at the BBQ in the back yard on a sunday afternoon that is the true close friend. I have ran across alot of people that think they are a member of the family because they gave $100 bucks to the campaign back in 1988. If the guy ain't French Hill/ Rick Caldwell ( Huckabee's) or Morrial Hairman/ Lightle, Raney and Bell (Beebe) , I tend to question how good of a friend they are.

First your facts are off. Micah was a waitress and earned the majority of her pay from her customers for providing THEM with excellent service. Truth be told, restaurants pay servers much less than any other employee because of the tip factor. So, no, Huckabee didn't pay her salary, Micah's hard work and great personality payed her salary because her customers loved her.

I think telling anyone to just shut up is a cowards way out. Micah should stand up and speak out against a tyrannical politico like Huckabee. This isn't the first time he has abused his power. Lest we forget Wayne Dumond, strong arming the PPPTB for his release, nearly losing Medicaid for Arkansas, etc. I think it's a brave act on Micah's part to stand up against this poor excuse for a Presidential candidate and potential VP nominee.

wiggleroom - We all enjoy DBI's antics, and he does have a blog here, but unfortunately, he actually doesn't write much in it. Instead, he reposts articles from other publications that he finds interesting.

I am not a lawyer, but there might be a legal question about his blog.

My assumption is that DBI has permission to republish those articles, but if he doesn't, it could be a problem for this publication if the Digital Millenium Copyright Act is violated. I checked the list of registered agents on file at the U.S. Copyright Office, and I could not find one for Arkansas Times. So, if a copyright owner files a lawsuit alleging infringement at this site, Arkansas Times can be named as a defendant with no safe harbor. But if Arkansas Times would register an agent, they would be indemnified against a lawsuit if the comply with a DCMA take-down notice. No fee is charged for the registration. (Similarily, I do not see an agent registered for ardemgaz.com or Wehco Media, but their situation is a little less risky because they don't have much user-generated content.)

I agree with most of the dissenting opinions on the blog to a point, but "wiggle" I resent your condescension in every way. Suddenly, I'm just a waitress...and my story is not to be believed over the Governor?

If you would take the time to read all of my posts, and other miscellaneous items I have on the internet, instead of thinking of what you are going to write next, you will find that waitressing was my JOB, not my life's work. In fact, if the Democratic party doesn't want to get out ahead of the story, because YOU told them not to, you are probably going to be looking around Texas for another job.

That is a huge mistake. I say that, because I am fully aware of the political landscape, and of course there's the whole TRUTH thing going on.

You might also find that I have a much more brilliant mind than you would dare give me credit for, and I am fully capable of making my own decisions regarding work ethic and appropriateness. In fact, I'm pretty much respected by everyone that really knows me.

So according to Holbert, Micah was a) not on her break and b) in her work uniform and c) Huckabee never called.

Hmmm. Not sure what to make of anything at the point.

I guess Dick Holbert didn't mind Micah and his other employees being in their uniforms, on company property, on company time wearing John Kerry paraphernalia in 2004. Seems like he doesn't mind his employees supporting HIS candidates.

Dick Holbert got rid of a seven year employee without even talking to her and getting the entire facts (like her side of things). It is rather callous that he would just say "get rid of her" without batting an eye. Ruthless.

One thing I can say is that Dick Holbert was appropriately named, at least his first name.

(1) It looks like Taylor Holbert needs to be interviewed. Dick Holbert's statement indicates that all of his information came from son, Taylor. And the airport worker claims that he overheard Huckabee and Taylor Holbert talking about Micah.

The way the economy is these days, anyone who would fire an employee of seven years over something like this is a person of low moral character. If you did it because Huckabee told you to and have now lied about it, then you, Mr. Holbert, have no character.

I've had a lot of supervisory positions, with hiring and firing power, and I have had to fire people. It's always been difficult, no matter how richly that person might deserve it. Taking someone's livelihood should always be the absolute last resort. I could never casually terminate someone's employment, especially when they'd worked for me for seven years.

I don't dispute Mr. Holbert's right to fire Ms. Qualls, but this is a true showing of what kind of man Mr. Holbert is and what kind of business he runs.

If you don't care for your employees any better than this, Mr. Holbert, I sincerely doubt that you care much for your customers, except for how to make a buck off of them.

Dick Holbert and family own the giant company that is Central Flying Service. The Flight Deck is inside the company owned by Central. He has a manager for the restaurant, Flint Flenoy, who has nothing to do with the firing of me, except that Dick made him do it. Flint does everything from mopping floors, to ordering food, to taking care of the money, to hiring the staff.

Dick oversees the BOTTOM LINE of the restaurant, but would not know when we have breaks, go potty, make dressings, prep desserts, or what time we even work every day. I bet he couldn't tell you what days of the week I work, or what days I close the restaurant down, or anything regarding my day to day work routine. (unless he asks somebody after he reads this blog...urgh)

However, Dick holbert had lunch in the restaurant on Friday, right after this supposed aggregious offense of mine took place. He says that he wanted to "get rid of me." (His words) Yet, he sat at table 32 by himself, and left when he was done.

Why did he not fire me then, instead of enjoying his catfish plate? Why did the call to fire me occur at 2:00 PM, unless he was responding to some OUTSIDE influence?

Am I doing my own reporting? Wake up people! Common sense is so much more trust worthy than PLANNED statements by defensive parties playing damage control.

I'm going to stop blogging now, but the deeper it gets, the more determined this makes me. I never dreamed abuse of power could be so personal in my life.

But I don't need to shout this story from the rooftops; let the public decide! I'm totally more confident in them. Viva-la truth!

Is it confirmed that she was wearing the employer's uniform during her demonstration? That is a key issue. I hope that video surfaces soon.

It seems unlikely that she will be rehired there now, but I won't be boycotting the restaurant over this.

I still say as I did last nite that Micah is right on. If anyone sees Huckabee's phone call is anything other than Huck-deceit and Hucklie you're kidding your self. Keep pushing Micah. Get this story and Huck's deceit on Kieth Oberman! Aries people never back down from a good confrontation.

I don't care if Micah's former employer is a member of the LeftWing Party of Fayetteville, or The Communist Party of America, he succumbed to political pressure from side show con named Huckabee.

What if I'm on my way home, and stop off at the liquor store and buy a crap load of alcohol while wearing my uniform?

What if I get into a fist fight in my work uniform?

What if I beat my kid in uniform?

This logic is not sensible at all. Ultimately, we are a reflection of where we work at all times, and frankly I'm the same EVERYWHERE I am, so this does not sell me.

And for the record I have not called for any boycotts, or even said anything about the restaurant. I love the Flight Deck, it's the Little Rock equivalent of Cheers.

I'm not embarking on a smear campaign of any entity, I'm telling the truth.

The woman is telling the truth. It's ALL the truth! It's as simple as that... and Wiggle room which part of Huckabee is a liar don't you understand? I don't care if you think it was right or wrong at this point that she was fired... Huckabee is a LIAR and he can't even be honest about the role he played in her firing. Another prediction has come true. I said, " it would be interesting to see how her boss responded" and He Lied! Surprise, surprise!! Pretty much what I thought he would do...wonder if it was encouraged or he did it of his own volition.

Micah's boss took full responsibility and said Huckabee had nothing to do with her firing. Must be good weather for lying...there seems to be a lot of it going on around here.

So why then did you fire a 7 year employee with no diciplinary actions and a great customer base? And by the way ...what did you tell her immediate boss while you had him on the phone just before you told him to fire her? Why was everyone under the impression you were contacted by Huckabee again after the Tarmac conversation you had with him that by the way was OVERHEARD by an employee or two. Are the people who over heard that conversation lying too about the girl Huckabee recognized from the restaurant?

And Why did Huck's friend who called him at home to ask what had happened ( a 40 year old family friend JUST FYI) in front of Micah's friend then call Micah to recount what had been said in that conversation. Why did Huck admit on the phone that HE WAS RESPONSIBLE? , He said , "he had a bad day "and thought what she was doing ( holding a single sign quietly) was "tasteless" and that he got her fired? Why did he say he may have "over reacted" and why did he tell the 40 year family friend that he would contact Micah's boss on Monday and then call Max here and lie to him?

Does any of that concern you or raise red flags? Democrat or Republican ...either way...we have some serious liars in our midst..

Everyone who is involved in this knows the truth and your integrity will be tested and exposed. Those of us who know the key people involved have been respectful and have been choosing to not disclose the family friends name. But to be honest ... I'm this close to saying the name.... someone has 24 hours to do the right thing. Not a threat just an encouragement to do the right thing! You were in that hotel at that moment in time for a reason, do you think it was a coincidence that you were there and that Micah's close friend told you the story and then you end up calling Mike? I know you have been friends with Mike for years but your friend is no friend at all if he would sell a young woman

Well, Ms. Qualls, if not but a little tedious, I was gonna let this conversation ride until you mentioned smoking. I have to clarify that secondhand smoke is not merely offensive but a known health hazard. The Surgeon General has stated that there is no safe exposure to secondhand smoke. Ms. Qualls, secondhand smoke is dangerous carcinogen even on your uniform and can trigger asthma, and complicate cardio vascular disease. That's why parents, who have not yet quit, wear a smoking jacket outside while managing their addiction. They can remove it before holding infants or children.

In fact, Ms. Qualls you work in the most dangerous profession women can. More waitresses die from lung cancer than women in any other occupation. Your career as a vocalist also puts you at increased risk in many smoking venues.

Citing research showing a 68% increased risk of breast cancer, the California EPA has classified SHS as a Toxic Air Contaminant; as such due regulation even outside. The big Island of Hawaii just legislated protection from second hand smoke on any beach, park, or recreational area.

I bet there is a justifiable precedent in displaying the uniform for firing. We all know Hucklbee is an egomaniacal freak and restaurant owners will pander to the customer over someone they pay a little over two dollars an hour. The legitimacy of Ms. Qualls' firing is moot in a society that values a person's time in tips and asked to work in an environment that is proven unsafe. A death sentence should never be a condition of employment. Not to mention the boorish classist behavior of her former employers.

I have also been a friend of Micah's for several years so I too am very biased....
What people do not understand is, Micah is not like anyone else, she does not have anything to gain from being fired, she has always been in the limelight but that does not mean she wants to be there. Micah is a very open person, what you see with her IS what you get. What people don't understand is that she stands for what she believes in, this has cost her more than what the readers have ever considered, it has cost her privacy, people who know her know that Micah can be loud and voices her opinion on what she believes in, what people do not know is that Micah is a very guarded and private person. She stands up for the "underdog" when no one else will, she is the voice of the unvoiced. Micah is one of those friends who asks "What can I do for my friend?" not " What can my friend do for me?"
That people are focusing on that she is trying to further her musical career is proof that those people do not know her, they just see another pretty face and assume that she is trying to move up the career ladder without working for it. Maybe these people forgot to read the part that she herself worked at Central for 7 years while putting herself through school, maybe you skimmed over the part that she wants to be a teacher, she just happens to have musical talent.
I don't understand why so many people want to jump to support a politician, in the last several years everyone should have came to the conclusion that politicians are liars and ONLY look out for themselves. People have got to realize that Huck is looking for a possible VP spot, who would want such negative press? Look at what Huck has to lose and Micah has to gain, the stats just do not add up no matter who's side your on. As a politician learns early in his or her career, never recant they love to use the phrases " I had nothing to do with it", " I was advised of this situation only after it was reported", " I have never seen this person before" or " My people MAY have acted on my behalf without consulting me." Huck has so much more to lose than Micah could ever gain from this "incident".
What most of the readers see about Micah is that she has a hopeful singing career and she's very attractive, they don't realize that she would give the shirt off of her back to help a friend in need. They don't know about the times that she has opened her house to a friend in need, or the nights she stayed home to baby-sit her nephew so that her sister and brother in law could also go to school and further their education and help them so that they wouldn't have to pay someone to watch their son, they didn't know about the time she sang at my grandfathers funeral and drove 160 miles on her own dime to be there at the graveside so that she could support my family even though I was the only person she knew in my family at that time, she's the one who when I had no job before Christmas and my ex husband was not paying child support, she gave my teenagers a Christmas. She was a waitress who cared about someone in need, while Huck was governor and he did nothing to help me get the child support that a judge awarded me, where was Huck? She did little things like this not to "further" her career but because she is a TRUE Christian and not because she has an agenda.
I hope that everyone will remember that Huck has been in the press and politics for a long time and knows all of the right words and has writers to prepare his speeches and Micah is a everyday person who was doing one thing she believed in and because of this has been thrust into a situation she would rather not be in. Just remember that she has her opinion and it did not hurt anyone it just hurt someone's feelings. People could say that her actions caused the reaction but you can also say that Huck's reaction caused the situation, for if Huck hadn't of gotten his feelings hurt then no one would have ever questioned what she was doing. All I can say is if Huck gets his feelings hurt that easy maybe he should rethink his career in politics and as a minister and maybe the Republican party and McCain should consider him even being able to claim he is a Republican much less ever thinking he could be President or Vice President, what would happen if he got his feelings hurt again?

Seven years is a long time to work at a place, but my father worked at a place for 29.8 years, and right before retirement he was fired (laid off) with the term "right to work". Right to work sucks. There was a unoffical red phone between the AT and Gov Huck for awhile. My finely honed mind was following the posts on this thread like a heat-seeking missile tracking a Mig until I got to this part of Ms Micha's posting. Now the vision of topless smoking waitresses have scattered my thoughts all over the place.

First of all, I owned a public watering trough for many years and I never was lucky enough to have a good waitress last for 7 years. I had some great ones, but they always wandered off and got their nursing degrees or married some man who whisked them away. Just about every time you have to replace a great waitress, the next one winds up making you wish you'd never been born. So Mr. Central Flying Service just bought a new headache for his hard working manager and with such bad karma going around Micha's replacement will probably be an ax murderess.

Secondly, about my blog, that Max was kind enough to give me a year or so ago. It is dreadfully under-used. Like John Wayne once said, I am not an actor, I'm a re-actor. When I dial up the making sheet of the Billiken blog and see all those miles and miles of white.....I go blank. I have posted some articles I thought were of great importance for all to read, but hopefully I've pasted them in such a way that it clearly shows exactly where they came from and who the author was. Most of the time I hate getting credit for what I write, I'm sure not looking to do a Cindy McCain with someone else's words.

It is not my desire that all people follow me, I have a pretty spotty track record of success in life. But I do dislike unfairness with a passion. I use to hang out in the Fort some, the Rib Room always had great bands. There was a bar next to Roosters that use to stay open till sun up. Seems like every time the river would rise or fall the waterbugs would come up out the plumbing in downtown.

For the third time I'm posting this hoping someone will chime in on it.

In 2004 Central Flying Service encouraged their employees to support John Kerry as I understand. Micah has pictures of her wearing her uniform on company property, on company time, wearing John Kerry paraphernalia. As did her fellow co-workers. All sanctioned by CFS. My question is does this not set a precedent for employees to express their political beliefs? It would seem to me that in order to be consistent CFS should have had a policy in place clarifying this instead of employees assuming incorrectly. I think CFS bears a lot of responsibility in this that could have prevented this situation altogether. Isn't it reasonable to believe that Micah thought her employer wouldn't have a problem with it since they encouraged it in the past?

Further, isn't it reasonable to expect CFS to actually talk to Micah about the situation and hear her point of view before overreacting and costing her her livelihood? I would think 7 years of devotion would at least warrant a conversation.

I say that CFS has lot's of "splaining" to do. I won't even touch Huckabee (but then who would except Janet).

I don't like Mark Pryor. I don't support him. Won't ever support him. When I lived in DC, there was a U of A Basketball Game watch party at a bar. A bunch of us showed up before it started and got us a big ole table up by the big screen. We started in on the pitchers of beer. 20 minutes into the game in walks King Mark and that wife of his, and there young kids. Now the only table left was a Little four top over away from the TV's. So Mark walks up to our table and says that we need to move. My non political buddy, he was DC metro cops asks why. Well Marks wife says, " Don't you know this is Mark Pryor". I said, " Oh you are that Republican that took Asa's place". So finally a buddy of mine who works for Mark comes over and talks a few of my friend into moving after Pryor offers to buy them a pitcher. So we are all sitting there, and the game goes south, people start to cuss, his wife has a fit. I ask what is wrong and she is mad because of cussing. Well they brought their kids to a bar. He doesn't have enough since to keep his kids out of Bar.

I am not a republican as I can't see what they stand for except for alot of NO, NO, NO, NO. I mean, they won't even let two people that live together, buy together, and save together have a way to take care of a partner in time of death. However, I do like guns. I would rather be responsible for my own protection instead of that guy in my high school geography class that couldn't point out Missouri on a map. He's now a cop and that is scary.

However, I think we should all follow the rules, and no private organization allows true free speech. Private colleges don't, churches don't, the Elk's don't, and neither does a private company. In 29 years a person should figure that out. If you are going to protest at work, then don't wear your company clothes and be doing it on company time. Protesting on the clock in work clothes, sounds about a great an idea as jumping on a fire ant mound and throwing a rock at a hornets nest at the same time. As my football coach once said, " you screwed up, you're not getting a cookie, so buck up and play ball". Yes, but there is one flaw with that argument and that is the employer must COMMUNICATE what an employee can and cannot wear, when he or she can or cannot wear it and where. Therefore, if he set the precedent by allowing political paraphernalia in the past and hadn't set a guideline since then it could be reasonably implied that political support is acceptable. Micah could view this as harassment since her boss allowed political speech at work for the candidate he supported and then punished her for supporting one he didn't. That's federal law which trumps state law. Especially if Micah (the victim) perceives it as harassment. If Dick told her she couldn't hold that sign and express her views before she did it, then I would agree with you that she would be in the wrong. That never happened, she wasn't given a chance. If I recall, you stated you had been told to take your political pictures down and complied. She wasn't given that opportunity.

What irks me most about all this is not all the he said, she said, but the fact that an employer didn't even bother to give a 7 year employee a 5 minute meeting to explain herself. No he doesn't have to do that, but it doesn't make it right. What's stupid on Dick's part is that the P.R. mess he is finding himself in could have been avoided. I noticed a couple of comments about that after working 7 years, Micah deserved 5 minutes to explain her side of the story before being fired. I will admit that given the problem finding good employees there is a lot to be said for going the second mile.

But in any circumstances, what would she say? I had a McCain sign and I Clinton sign and picked up the wrong one? I wanted to make sure that if any of the staff of those war-mongers stopped to eat they know I didn't like them? That my employers ought to know it doesn't matter who flies in and out, I am going to flaunt my support or lack thereof.

Employers have been known to Google prospective employees and decide without ever meeting them that they won't fit in on the basis of what they find on the web. It doesn't matter if you're right or wrong, or that you're a good Christian who would never knowingly create problems in the workplace. From what I've seen here, whether you deserve it or not, many human resources people and school superintendents will label you "trouble" pretty quickly.
You may be able to patch things up enough with a long-time former employer (or his manager) to wheedle a letter of recommendation out of him. It doesn't work that way on the Internet. And I can assure you that a "that's just who I am explanation" won't cut it with someone who wants to hire the best employee he or she can find.

Could be. I wasn't saying he wasn't for Hillary, but that when his candidate needed support he sure did allow his employees to support him all they wanted. To me, this truly is the jist of the whole debacle. Micah had no reason to believe she was doing anything inappropriate or wrong since Holbert had allowed this behavior in the past. How holding a sign is so threatening is unbelievable to me. And, had he talked to her to hear her side of things she might have pointed this out to him so he could have more information to make a RATIONAL decision instead of a knee-jerk one.

Can we just get to some common sense? There is no doubt that any business in the state of Arkansas has "the right" to fire anyone for any reason, unless it violates federal law. However, it doesn't always make it right to exercise that right. Holbert has made one of the biggest P.R. gaffs in recent memory. Not only did he fire Micah for a benign and inconsequential act, he also gave quotes to Max Brantley, reported here, that he said to "get rid of her." Like he was some mafioso boss leveling a hit on family member. The fact that he would dismiss someone like they were trash and then admit it to a reporter means he is a complete buffoon. Many Arkansans are sympathetic with the underdog and in this situation it clearly is Micah. As a 7 year employee she deserved to be treated better than that. At the least he could have had a meeting with her to find out all the facts before getting "rid" of her.

I, for one, will no longer patronize CFS or the Flight Deck Restaurant. If they do their employees that way, think about how they will treat their customers. Or, the customers with no political clout or significant money. Again, Dick Holbert, you were named appropriately (the first name that is).

As a friend of Micah's and one that is concerned about justice I must comment on some things that have been said.

1. At this time, there is no incontrovertible proof that former Governor Huckabee or his staff was involved with the firing of Micah. Though it may have the appearance he did have involvement, I think it's appropriate to allow this information to come out honestly and not by secondary sources (i.e., someone told me they made a phone call...). Until that time, I think others should back off of this part of the story. At this point it's merely hearsay. Innocent until proven guilty (even for Huckabee).

2. Veiled threats of, or indirect revealing the identity of the source of a caller to Mr. Huckabee and quoting him without his permission is inappropriate. This man deserves to be respected as he did not ask to be in this position. Anyone who doesn't respect this man's right to privacy isn't seeking justice, but seeking self motivated goals.

3. Lastly, passion for justice is not the same as fervor for punishment. Let's keep in mind that those of us who are true friends of Micah want justice for her and not payback. Payback is for the desperate.

There is nothing when you search "Mike Huckabee" on google news. At least nothing about this thing except for it's relationship to the AT.

I have encouraged Huck's friend to come forward on his own. Our friends are being hurt by this and lied about. I got confirmation from Huck's friend that the "phone call took place". That is a FACT it's not hearsay.

We're not interested in payback, we are only interested in the truth. This is not hearsay it ALL Actually happened. My conversation was not hearsay. It took place. I spoke with the man several times in the last 24 hours. The last time I spoke with him and I told him it was not "my place" to reveal his name" and I hoped he "would do the right thing" on his own. I have kept my word. But I also said that I would reveal that I had spoken with him and our conversations will become public if he chooses to not help Micah and Will. Why don't you find out why the friend of Huckabee gave out his business card and personal phone number and told them to get in touch with him? He is unlisted so there's an important piece of evidence and there is more. What happened between the day he did the the favor of making the "phone call" to Huck and now? He is the person with the truth about what happened after Micah was fired. Micah and Will had no reason to lie about any of that information. Why would they?

Micah and Will are being called liars and no one wants to see their good names smeared for political reasons.

I have nothing but respect and love for Will and Micah.

I did not reveal the person and told him I would not. I encouraged him to do the right thing, like he did when he called Huckabee at Will's work place. What he will do will be determined by HIM not me.

The point is that HUCK lied to everyone. He did say" Isn't that the girl from the restaurant", and that was confirmed by an employee who over heard him. SO he did SEE her! His camp said, the phone call at Wills work never took place, the friend confirmed to me that it did. He also shared that Mike is a "powerful man" and that it would be Micah's word against his and he was banking on that fact to get him out of this pickle. Now it doesn't matter why she was fired any more . It's about why is Huckabee lying so much and why are others willing to lie for him? Does that matter to anyone?

You want them to roll over and play dead and they shouldn't have to do that when they have done nothing wrong.

My prayer is that Justice prevails. I believe it will.

Also go to the Raw story website...they have footage of Huckabee and Taylor on the Tarmac...watch while Huck says something and He and Taylor look over in Micahs direction then try to play it off... the audio is not clear in the video but rumor has it that an audio specialist is working on it now and is isolating the audio...apparently they will be able to hear exactly what was said...it doesn't get much more accurate than that...that ought to shut us all up. Micah has asked me to be her spokesperson because of the national interest in this story. She's a bit overwhelmed at the moment and has never tread these kinds of waters before. It must be remembered that Micah is a small town girl from Arkansas up against some mighty powerful forces.

Micah wants to thank all those who have supported her with their comments, as well as the over one hundred emails, the job offers, letters, etc. She is very touched by the outpouring from the public and wanted to express her gratitude.

I think it's important to note that anything anyone else says about Micah, her thoughts or feelings, this situation, it's facts or fiction, content or comment, should not be considered as coming from the source itself, Micah. No one speaks for Micah except Micah and her spokesperson. Anything else is speculation or hearsay.

There have been misquotes, misinterpretation and comments taken out of context and soon we will set the record straight. Micah stands behind the facts of this case and trusts that the public will continue to judge her based on those facts and not emotionally.

I worked with Micah at the Flight Deck for 5 years, and trust me she is not totally innocent. She was always getting into trouble for being loud and boisterous, and we would have to tell her so many times to just be quiet. Dick Holbert is a wonderful man and don't be fooled: Micah was fired because she made a fool of herself and her employees at work, not for her "political values".

Since when does expressing yourself, even if on the "company clock",
away from the business and on public property, constitute "making
a fool of herself and her employees at work". I guess Mandy does not
work there anymore, she's now gainfully employeed as a mushroom!

Some of the comments that people make on these blogs are a trip! Especially when the comments are totally idiotic i.e., "women shut up then people would take you seriously." What kind of sense does that make?

It seems to me that if Micah Qualls was such a bad employee, and she was so loud and boistrous at work, then there would have been a firing before last week. Maybe she was bringing in business to CFS that they needed because of her personality. I have many friends that eat there and I have never heard a comment from one stating that her work ethics were so bad that they wouldn't go back. Those customers continue to come because of Micah. To me, it seems that Mandy may be a little jealous because she may not have been receiving as many tips or getting enough comments from customers. Those of us who know Micah understand that it is hard to fill Micah's shoes and CFS will have a hard time filling them now. So Mandy, try not to be a "hater". And Mandy, if you still work for CFS, maybe you can get her old customers and see if you can keep them coming back for more. Work a little harder Mandy!

Americans are in deep crisis when it comes to accepting personal responsiblity. Few are willing to do that, and seek out others to blame when they exercise an error in judgement. That's quite obviously the case here. Micah wasn't fired merely for holding a Hilary sign. The sign could have been for McCain, Hilary, Obama, or Bugs Bunny. She was fired for holding the sign on company time and company grounds, and for trying to attract as much attention in her direction as she could with loud, consistent yelling in support of her candidate of choice. Any other place at any other time, I'd support Micah's right to hold signs and protest 100 percent. But in this case, an employer absolutely has the right to fire someone who's wearing the uniform of the company while disrespecting the customers of that company. And this is what Micah did. Bad judgement, and perhaps getting fired was a little harsh, but I back Holbert completely on this. It doesn't matter in the least whether Huckabee called somebody or never called somebody. Micah needs to accept personal responsibility for her actions, and stop blaming her mistake on anyone else.

With respect you are misinformed about the facts of this case. The facts you stated are not facts at all. So, for the record I will correct your statement of fact.

1. Micah had been allowed, indeed encouraged by CFS to wear political paraphernalia in the past. In fact, there are photos proving this point. Therefore, Mr. Holbert set a precedent that political speech was not only acceptable but encouraged. Then without notification apparently this acceptable policy was revoked. It would have been nice had Micah been informed. I can assure you she wouldn't have done it out of respect for a 7 year employer. Much more respect than was given her by tossing her out with not even a chance to defend herself and make this point.

2. You state that Micah was trying to attract attention by "loud, consistent yelling." How would you know if you weren't there? Because you are absolutely incorrect. Micah was very low key in her verbal speech and did not participate in any sort of negative communication towards Mr. McCain whatsoever.

3. You claim Micah was protesting. That, too, is not completely accurate. She did not have any anti-McCain sign, she had a pro-Hillary sign. There is a huge difference. She was supporting her candidate, not condemning another.

4. An employer does not have the right to create a hostile work environment. Micah had been allowed political speech in the past for Mr. Holbert's candidate, but now she cannot support her own candidate. That seems contradictory and is a mixed message. Shouldn't a 7 year employee receive a warning that Mr. Holbert didn't want that kind of speech any longer. Micah had no way of knowing that she was violating some unknown policy since the very same speech was allowed during her time at CFS Flight Deck.

5. You speak as an authority saying what Micah did or didn't do and yet you weren't there. Why would you think you know all the facts in this case and therefore provide a judgment? Don't you think that's a little premature?

6. It does matter if Huckabee called and got Micah fired. If proven, that's an abuse of power from a potential VP nominee. An abuse in a long line of abuses. Ask Roby Brock. It goes to your statement that you think Micah disrespected a customer. If Huckabee didn't complain then how was a customer disrespected? I doubt seriously that any political candidate would take what Micah did with much more than a grain of salt, except perhaps former Governor Huckabee. As stated he has a history (a proven history) of using his power in such a way.

Anyway, I just wanted to correct you. Now, perhaps you can make a better, more informed judgement.

In brief, regarding Mrs. Huckabee's comment describing the circumstances for Micah's firing as "petty," Micah says, "perhaps Mrs. Huckabee doesn't understand what it's like to be fired and have no financial income. Petty is not how I would describe what I'm going through." The statement is insensitive to say the least.

Micah wonders why the Huckabee's haven't expressed any compassion for her situation. If the Governor had no involvement in her firing, then why wouldn't they express compassion for her situation. A defensive attitude doesn't seem to be compatible with innocence.

"I don't know why anyone would lie about something like this. I would not put myself through this if I believed they were lying," Micah says about the "sources" Mrs. Huckabee references in her email. Micah stands behind the information she was given by all the sources associated with this situation and until proven otherwise accepts the validity of that information.

This blog is the most amusing that I have read in a while. Who are these bozo's and what do they expect to gain from this? Spokesperson? National attention? Really?

James, spokesperson for Micah, are you for real? Of course Micah was alllowed, even encouraged to participate in political paraphenalia i n the past because they were actually hosting an event for John Kerry. Mr. Holbert did not set a precedent for Micahs most recent actions.

What she did was wrong no matter which way you slice it. Your implication that "the facts" will vindicate her, etc. are bizarre. In addition, I certainly hope that "the facts" prove more than has been proved thus far. Because it isn't there.

Your claim that you can see Huck and Holbert talking about it and looking over Micah's way on the Fox16 clip is about the most ludicrous attempt for notariaty that I have ever seen. You also claim that Micah wasn't "protesting" which in fact on the clip her exact statement is "woo hoo, LONE PROTESTOR." Mr. Thweat, this is proof that she was protesting and she wasn't just quietly standing by the fence with her Hillary sign. That is the fact.

I agree that Micah had the right to free speech but what she did was disrepectful to her employer. Period. It has nothing else to do with whether or not Huck or McCain or any of their associates complained about it. She was at work, with her employers shirt on and made a conscious effort to draw attention away from what her employers were focused on and that was to welcome McCain.

I have shown support, attended fundraisers, and even contributed to candidates who I didn't necessarily support but I did so because MY EMPLOYER did. Grow up Micah, you chose to beat to your own drum and you paid the consequences. It's simple. I would have fired you too. My employer would have more than likely fired me.

Abuse of power? James, I highly doubt that the Holbert's would have felt threatened by Huck even if he did make comment about Micah's actions. Huck doesn't even hold a public office. What power has he abused?
