Tis the election season
There's not exactly a bumper crop of contested races on the primary election ballot in May, but that doesn't mean there's an absence of jousting.
For example, things are heating up in western Arkansas in the Republican primary race for state representative where Stephanie Malone and Brandon Woodrome are contestants for the open District 64 seat in the Fort Smith area. Here's an ethics complaint filed against Woodrome over an alleged excess campaign contribution.
(If you want an early-morning urp, check out the syrupy "true conservative" Woodrome website complete with invocations of Ronald Reagan, his baby and the strains of "America the Beautiful." Stick around for Mizriz Woodrome's statement that American family values are "under siege.")
ON ANOTHER TOPIC: A little noise is brewing in Conway, where Dr. Terry Fiddler and Linda Tyler are running for the Democratic nomination for state representatives. There's some thinking, reflected in comments on this Log Cabin Democrat article and from a Republican insider who wrote me last night, that Fiddler is a Republican in Democrat's clothing. Not that this would make him unique in the legislature should he win.
Perhaps this is a good thread for others to offer legislative election season tidbits from all over.

Comments
Just as interesting are those races where candidates have no opponents. The Iconoclast today reports on Northwest Arkansas legislative candidates who got a bye, and its not pretty. Nor unusual. We can hope that other bloggers will fill in the blanks elsewhere around the state.

Remember, if you are really concerned about the November free rides, there are only 63 days left to file to run as a Green.
Why gripe about the lack of choice when you could have done something about it?

Dwain Dobbins needs an opponent. Can't let a child molester just walk in to that seat. C'mon NLR residents, step up. The Ledge needs a fresh, courageous voice like Joyce Elliott. Her records shows she put the people's interest ahead of the powerful. Need more like her.

I am eagerly awaiting the day I can cast a ballot checked for both Joyce Elliot and Wendell Griffen. I have known Joyce for many years now and my day is always brightened by her presence. I don't personally know Judge Griffen, but anybody who can make Greenbert spew spittle will get my vote.

Alright, Terry Fiddler has got to go too. I don't know who his opponent is, but no more fake Democrats in our caucus. DON VOTE FOR TERRY FIDDLER ON MAY 20TH IF YOU WANT A REAL DEMOCRAT!!!

Terry Fiddler is most certainly a Republican. And yes, that fact is well-known by everyone who knows him even reasonably well. Even a brief review of his federal contributions shows a $1,000 contribution to the Republican Party of AR and $300 to Tim Hutchinson with no Democratic contributions going all the way back to 1978. I didn't go into state filings, but I bet one would quickly dig up donations to Gilbert Baker, the former Chairman of the RPA and former Minority (GOP) Leader in the Senate and others. Hardly the record of a real Democrat...
I would really like to hear his explanation for running on the ticket of a party whom he does not support...
