Wes
Over at The Huffington Post, regular columnist Lawrence O'Donnell thumps the tub for Wesley Clark as a vice-presidential nominee:
Yes, Clark was a bad campaigner in 2004. So was every other Democrat who lost the nomination to John Kerry. Clark has learned enough since then to survive a two-month, one-debate vice presidential campaign.
An Arkansas Democrat with a good smile, a great looking family, and career military experience -- that's what VP inevitability looks like.

The Democratic presidential nominee in 2008 could probably do no better than to have Wes Clark on the ticket as Veep.

I think he'd make a great choice. South + War credentials.
I was a huge supporter in 2004, but his endorsement of Clinton seemed a bit opportunistic considering the type of stuff he rails against on his website (i.e. war with Iran).
Meh, once Obama wraps this thing up, I think it would do him good to get someone from the south like Clark or Edwards.

I'm still steamed at Wes Clark for his "Karl Rove is trying to defeat Mark W. Pryor" letter. If anything Karl Rove keeps naked pictures of Mark W. Pryor under his mattress for when Mrs. Rove is out of town. I know 3/4 of politics is fund raising, but surely there are some folks on the Democratic side with enough integrity to refuse to lie for neo-cons in disguise. It really really disappointed me in Wesley Clark. Really!

Wes Clark was a bad campaigner in '04? Yes, he was. But, he was actually a better campaigner than John Edwards and gave a better speech at the convention.
I'd be okay with Clark as the running mate, but think if he wants to go that route he should pick Jim Web. Graduate of the Naval Academy and Marine infantry officer in Vietnam then Undersecretary of Defense and Sec of the Navy under Reagan who saw the light and switched to the Democratic party? I'll take him.

Clark was no more of a bad campaigner
than Edwards was this time. The media
picks which candidates to cover, and
that determines who makes it to the
end. Most people never even see the
candidates actually campaign. Their
only exposure to most before they are
forced to drop out is through the
media.
Clark would make an excellent VP for
Hillary but Obama wouldn't even win
Arkansas with Clark on the ticket.
JD if support for the Iraq war is so
important to you then why are you
supporting Obama? He hasn't voted
against funding for the war which
means he has supported it.

Forget it Bold. First of all, I said Iran. 2nd of all, "once you're in the ditch (the Iraq War), there's only so many ways you can get out." If you think a strict vote for funding = unflagging support of the war, then you should study up on a thing called nuance. That's a distinction that only grade-schoolers should get confused with.

Well I agree with Deeb.. that fund raising ploy bothered me..and when i replied with a simple, please tell me general, why are you doing this? And got no reply to that and a few other letters of direct inquiry.. I could no longer trust Wes.
And Obama and Hillary have not supported Occupation funding all along the way... I applaud them for that..and seriously dislike it when they vote for MIC bills in general.. MIC must be reduced at least 75 percent if we are going to stop genocide for big oil robber barons and take care of each other with basic health care for all.
