Ask the Blog

When we can, we try to oblige readers who come seeking answers to questions:

Q: I somehow missed a couple of election results -- 1) the North Little Rock perv trying to get back in the state ledge and 2) the dead county judge down in South Arkansas, Chicot County as I recall.

A: Dwayne Dobbins, who resigned from the legislature after a plea bargain to sexually molesting a teen and who turned up as an 11th-hour filer this year for a House seat his wife held, was unopposed in the Democratic primary and faces no general election opposition. The Green Party may still be searching for a candidate.

Fred Zieman, who died in March after filing to run for re-election for Chicot County judge, didn't do so hot in the election either, though people opposing the remaining choice had run ads urging a vote for Zieman. Mack Ball Jr. beat the late Zieman about 1,350 to 730.

The deceased got nearly half the votes.....that seem odd to anyone else?

He ran a very effective campaign. In a time where everyone wants change, the people fell in love with a politician that couldn't possibly break a campaign promise! hahaha

No, seriously, his people ran ads urging people to vote for him in order to force a special election later on so that both parties could be represented fairly (he died 8 days after the filing deadline, so the Dems(?) couldn't replace him on the ballot).

11th hour filer? Max, you give Dwayne "The Perv" Dobbins too much credit. He didn't have the balls to file until the 59th minute of the 11th hour. My biggest concern for the Ledge this coming winter/spring: keeping the pages and interns away from "Doodling" Dwayne.

Here is an odd question for you-

In your sidebar advertisements, the boxed ad for the AEA shows a young boy and girl. On my screen, they both have odd white blotches on their faces like they are smiling but diseased.

Are these just low quality photos or are my monitors just lower quality than I was led to believe?

You're a fool if you think Dwayne is the biggest perv in the ledge...

Basil,
I think that was a derogatory comment directed at me, wasn't it? hahahaha.

But, then again, Basil would know the pervs up on the Hill (let's just put it this way: DBI wouldn't shut up for a month at first sight of her)...and I already know she can name names, so perhaps we should drop this conversation before some of our beloved legislators get in a little trouble at home with the wife? haha!

Been holding on to a gift certificate to Imagine Restaurant. Now I find they are closed. Does this guy (the owner) have any other restaurants that might honor this certificate?
