Bermuda: small world

The governor of Bermuda has responded to members of Arkansas's congressional delegation who've written him on behalf of Gary Barket, the Little Rock lawyer arrested as he left Bermuda for taking a gun (he'd forgotten it, he said) through Bermuda security.

As you can see, it's a small world. The governor didn't have much to offer by way of help, but he did say that he'd run into Barket at the theater. Barket is not in jail, but may not leave Bermuda pending his trial.

I like their idea of Island Justice, don't lock the well-heeled miscreants up, just let them cool their heels until their hotel & AMEX charges hit about a hundred thousand, then let them leave with an apology about the 'misunderstanding'. Saves expenses of the legal system while stimulating the local economy. By the way, you don't want to drink & drive in Costa Rica.

I have a hard time believing Gary's story.

Oh lord...think of what that humidity must be doing to his hair after all this time! Between that and the warm beer and the lousy food and all those crazy traffic circles.......let the poor guy go....he's suffered enough! Free Gary!
