Fun with numbers
Here's a site with poll-based noodling on electoral outcomes. Be sure to look at the map showing states won by popular vote in the Democratic primary.

Am I looking at it wrong? In some states they're comparing Repubs to Dems and in others they're comparing Dems to Dems. Shouldn't they be comparing both Dems to McCain in each state?

Oh why oh why won't the Dems give us a Dream Ticket?? I HATE saying it...but I'm beginning to believe the Democratic leadership (which is most of the so-called super delegates) is as incompetent/stupid as the Republicans are corrupt. Clearly they haven't learned one thing from the last two presidential elections, much less the last 30 years worth of elections. And, we all know what happens to people who don't study history, who don't learn from history...right, Saint Cato? Only the Dems can snatch defeat from the jaws of victory. I could cry...I CANNOT stomach a third round of Dubya's policies; and our country can't afford more senseless warmongering and a man who is completely clueless about anything outside his ego and war...much less one who publicly called his wife a cunt. He is a nasty, lying, incompetent old man who, like Monkeyboy, rode his family to fame.

Hmmmm, lets see now. Any poll is simply a snapshot of how voters think now. If I remember correctly almost every major polling service had HRC winning the Democratic nomination HANDS DOWN last year at this time. No contest at all. But look where we are now. So a poll taken last year does not accurately reflect what a voter thinks and votes today. Do you really think it will be any different come November? One the real race begins in earnest we will see all kinds of poll numbers changing for both sides.

I call BS.
Clinton would DESTROY McCain in Arkansas.

According to that site, the current Electoral College breakdown would be this:
In a McCain v. Obama contest, McCain wins the Electoral College with a 290-237 tally. Indiana is not counted as it is currently too close for that evaluator to call.
In a McCain v. Clinton contest, Clinton wins the Electoral College with a 280-241 tally. Michigan is not counted as it is currently too close for that evaluator to call.
Looks like it's going to be a McCain-Obama contest. Congratulations, President McCain!
Sometimes I think us Democrats intentionally choose the weaker candidate so we can beat ourselves up for four (or eight) years. I'm probably not helping, but I WILL NOT VOTE FOR OBAMA.
Loud Sigh!

It's amazing the level of denial.. It's amazing how many Democrats want another war-monger. And it's amazing how many women want a woman to blow up shit like a female Cheney and sell out their right to choose with HillaMark Pryor.. just so they can have seat at the big oval room. Even though she has earned the highest negatives this side of Bush and Cheney themselves.
Hillary bots need to quit their moaning and pick a candidate who will actually be on the November ballot and get to work.
If you want a woman, vote McKinney

Oh hell, eureka, I just want a Democrat in the White House...period. And, right or wrong (it's ALL educated guessing), I think Hillary stands a better chance. Would I like someone who didn't have her war/corporate baggage, you bet. But I also know that her so-called war baggage will help, rather than hinder, her in the general election. Don't worry, I've accepted the inevitable...as witnessed by my tears.

Survey USA did this sort of thing and shows Obama defeating McCain 280-258 (click on name). Looks highly reasonable except for NJ which they give to McCain and that ain't happening.
Certain supporters of each candidate, deeply in love with their own man/woman, will claim the other is doomed in a general election matchup but a clear eyed look at the situation shows both with good chances against McCain.

June...E-V is using surveyUSA's data, and others. As new polls come in, Dr. Tanenbaum updates the projection on a daily basis. Here's another good one: http://www.fivethirtyeight.com/. This person (unidentified) nearly hit the North Carolina and Indiana Dem primaries on the nose; he or she uses demographic factors to predict electoral outcomes.

Did I miss it? But seems many states had Demo primary total votes that set records. Total D voter turnout outpaced R primary votes by large margins. I'm thinking swing states.
I'm also wondering if large segments, mostly younger voters, who are not listed in telephone directories,
are being ignored.

Eureka - we don't want a war monger - that's why it is so important to beat McCain. I want the person with the best chance to do that - we can get perfection later. Right now stopping McCain is the only thing that is important, not our preference among the other candidates.
